Freaky Sex Friday: Dickie Gonna Get Prison Dickie?
Posted by BuelahMan on June 27, 2008
B’Man: It seems that power corrupts. By all indications, he seemed like a decent guy (unless someone can correct me). His imprisonment is somewhat connected to Trent Lott (they are brother-in-laws and this was related to Katrina settlements that he represented Lott on). Coincidence?
From McClatchy Washington Bureau:
Famed anti-tobacco attorney Scruggs sentenced to prison
By Anita Lee | Biloxi Sun Herald
OXFORD, Miss. — Attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs, who earned his reputation in the 1990s by winning a $206 billion settlement from tobacco companies, was sentenced to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines for trying to bribe a Mississippi district court judge in an insurance case stemming from Hurricane Katrina.
In sentencing Scruggs, Judge Neal D. Biggers Jr. called the crime “reprehensible.” Before sentencing, Scruggs told the judge, “I could not be more ashamed to be where I am today. I realized I was getting mixed up in it and I will go to my grave wondering why. I have disappointed everyone in my life – my wife, family and friends here to support me today. I deeply regret my conduct. It is a scar and a stain on my soul.”
Biggers ordered Scruggs to report to prison at noon Aug. 4, saying he should be housed in a facility that offers mental health and drug treatment.
He pleaded guilty in March to conspiring in 2007 to bribe Circuit Court Judge Henry L. Lackey, who cooperated with federal investigators.
Biggers entered the courtroom at 10 a.m. sharp and it was soon obvious from what he said about the findings in the pre-sentencing report, that the judge would hand down a stiff sentence.
Biggers said Scruggs had entered into the scheme so easily that it made him wonder whether Scruggs had done such a thing before, and indeed evidence indicates that he may have.

A Fitting Ending To The Piece of Shit We Call “W”
Posted by BuelahMan on June 27, 2008
From PRWatch.org:
The Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco is engaged in an effort to rename the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant the “George W. Bush Sewage Plant.” The group has been gathering signatures at local festivals, events and city parks and has already collected 8,500 signatures, about 1,300 more than is needed to put the question on the city’s ballot in November. If the measure passes, the new name will become effective starting next January, when the new president is sworn in. Supporters plan to engage in a “synchronized flush” during the inauguration as a way to send a “gift” to the newly-renamed plant, saying they believe this will be a “fitting monument to this president’s work.” The chair of the San Francisco Republican Party called the group’s effort “loony bin direct democracy,” and vowed to defeat it. A spokesman for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, which owns the plant, says that while his agency understands the humorous intent of the endeavor, the award-winning facility has been efficient at keeping the streets and ocean clean, thus the plant should be “the last place” the group should use to make a negative statement about George Bush.
B’Man: Personally, I keep hoping America will get “the cramp” and expel this sickening diarrhea before Jan 09.

Bushco’s Warrantless Wiretap Scam Rolls On
Posted by BuelahMan on June 27, 2008
Please contact your senators and demand that they vote NO on the new wiretapping legislation that not only grants immunity to telecoms who helped the Bush administration illegally spy on innocent American citizens, but also allows the illegal spying to continue with no accountability whatsoever.
And please share this info with all your friends and family.
Thanks – JP
