I still have a right to “write-in” my choice [opinion]

Posted by Lynda on July 18, 2008

Having a two party system is literally insane and not democratic. It’s leaves me no choice but to exercise my ‘write-in’ right. So far– Dennis gets my piece of paper! These are a few reasons why>

Regarding The HydroCarbon Act … Dennis speaking it like it is!!

Dennis Kucinich talks about his Universal Healthcare Plan at AFSCME FORUM and how the other Democratic Candidate’s Healthcare Plan’s All Include a roll for the Large “for Profit”…

Summing up the mess we are all in!

    Hey,

Commented below, too, but I have to ask:

Of course you know I love Dennis and he was my first choice before pulling out (my wife and I voted for him during the Primary which occurred just after he announced and he was still on the ballot… and for the same reason as you).

But I gotta ask since your post seems to indicate it: do you consider voting for Nader a waste of self-respect?

If so, please explain why. Nader and Dennis basically stand for the same things, in most instances, so I am not sure I understand your logic.

The one BIG difference– You KNOW I disagree with the above one thing strongly.

    … and I would like a ‘plan’

    Vs.

    Dennis>

    He has a real ‘plan’!

It’s not a right or wrong thing– it’s a personal preference thing regarding certain personal branched out key issues.

Dennis has experience dealing with the big boys ‘on the floor’… Nader has opinions, actions and knowledge of what is morally plain right, enviornment, consumer issues.. and had a Nader Movement in the 60’s that was [for the times] radicaland spoke out about human rights and business.. . And has experience re: people and the powers that try to make him out to be a nut case, to black eye the guy through generations. Currently Dennis is squarely addressing the issues in the fore-front; AND is in the political position to act on many of them NOW… such as the articles of impeachment, votes in the House etc. AND he has openly layed out a plan. NOT JUST REMARKS AND POLITICAL PANDERING.
They would make a dynamic duo thought– but a shaky one. I think Nader has a huge igo that has cultivated itself throughout his entire life. I also have a slight psychcological struggle with the fact that he has never had a relationship with anyone. [oyjer than his self]

Lynda, on the first video, what is incorrect or wrong about his statement? You know that I feel exactly the same way (and so does Dennis, by and large). Even if one is supportive of Israel, I cannot understand how one could disagree with Ralph’s (or mine) statements about the puppet mentality the Zionist Jewish lobbies have over American politics. Do you truly not see it? This baffles me because it is as evident as the hair missing from my head. Are you actually saying it is untrue? Really?

I watched the second video of Dennis talking about peace and I come back to the same thing. The leadership in Israel’s last desire is peace. You couldn’t be more different in ideologies. So what’s the deal. Dennis is no supporter of AIPAC or any Jewish Lobby. What is the point in your comparison?

What are the ‘certain branched out key issues’ you are talking about?

Nader has as much or more experience dealing with Congress than Dennis does, albeit in a slightly different way. Are you suggesting that one be required to be a Congressman (or Senator) to become president?

Do you think that the powers that be did NOT make Dennis to be a nutcase? And, so what? That is what ‘they’ do. ‘We’ don’t have to believe them, just like you choose not to believe them when you write Dennis in.

Which ‘NOT JUST REMARKS AND POLITICAL PANDERING’ are you suggesting that Nader has done. I would prefer specifics so I can understand your point better. So far, it seems like you just don’t like him and his stance on Israel, when Dennis’ stance is very similar.

And not to defend Nader, but Dennis is very well known to have a huge ego, as well. It just isn’t publicized because they determined he was no threat. It is only the threats to the ’system’ that get the treatment and become what you see Ralph as (right or wrong or indifferent).

Lynda, on the first video, what is incorrect or wrong about his statement?

**Nothing– and it is a ‘sound bite’. But when speaking about AIPAC, MOST [average Americans] don’t have a clue what it is– they literally take a statement like that and just remark about ‘Jews’ ignorantly. Ie: like many overseas relate what Bush does to ’all’ Americans. This is true– I live it daily and hear it.

Really?

**Of course not—Most informed Americans, and there are far too few, know that AIPAC is perhaps the most powerful lobby in Washington, D.C. Its efforts are mighty and largely successful, with major financial assistance from Jewish sources who have for far too many years demonstrated their allegiance to Israel before America. Until the American government confronts the imbalance that exists in its policies toward Israel and the Palestinians there can be no viable peace in the Middle East. Israel deserves to exist and so does an independent Palestine.

The point was personal.. And now that I re-read what I posted, I see I wasn’t clear– nor can be because of it being a personal issue.

What are the ‘certain branched out key issues’ you are talking about?

** Again, back to something that can’t be explained– it’s personal and I shouldn’t of used that term because of that fact.

Nader has as much or more experience dealing with Congress than Dennis does, albeit in a slightly different way. Are you suggesting that one be required to be a Congressman (or Senator) to become president?

** Nope– that’s not what I said. I just was making the point that Dennis being in the Congress makes his direct voice and vote count currently. And the things he does– he does as a U.S. Congressman.

** I am not saying Nader did anything– I was remarking that Dennis is a man if action.
[ and again-- not saying Nader isn’t.. because his middle name has been ‘action’ for years!]

I would prefer specifics so I can understand your point better. So far, it seems like you just don’t like him and his stance on Israel, when Dennis’ stance is very similar.

** I am confident their stands on AIPAC are similar. See, I don’t get AIPAC confused with Israel or Israelis. Opposition to AIPAC is not anti-semitic. As an American it is a wise and patriotic position to take.
I fully understand that AIPAC is interested only in advancing the interests of another country, often at the expense of the USA. AIPAC has been known to harbor and encourage spying against the USA. AIPAC encouraged USA politicians to support the Iraq War. AIPAC is dangerous as it operates as an agent for foreign country but is given immunity from Foreign Agent Registration Act. AIPAC may be at the heart of the “taking impeachment off the table” because an impeachment of Bush could lead to very embarrassing and dangerous testimony against Israel regarding 9-11 and Iraq War. I get it– all of it!

And not to defend Nader, but Dennis is very well known to have a huge ego, as well. It just isn’t publicized because they determined he was no threat. It is only the threats to the ’system’ that get the treatment and become what you see Ralph as (right or wrong or indifferent).

**Hell B’man’… it’s my vote. I am choosing Dennis from out of all those I could write in. That’s all. Juxiposing the two– the differing factors for me are:

Dennis IS in the Congress… and has a voice on the floor.
Dennis is taking a correct and non-stopping movement towards accountability via impeachment–.
AND I believe he supports all that Nader does!

  6. Lynda Says:

I was talking to my best friend over this past weekend while taking a mini-road trip, about ‘the write-in-vote’. She stated… ” I don’t think your going to be able to do that… there is a write-in list of approved ‘write-ins’ and if anyone writes in someone other than names on the approved list, they are not counted”. I sat in the passenger seat numb brained. So– opinions anyone about this?? I mean, I need to look into this— or is this something I should have already known…

  7. Lynda Says:

This was a bit hard to grid for pasting.. but the rules per State are checked etc under 1, 2 or 3–

    2008 Presidential Election Write-In Rules
Rule 1 - Write-in votes will not be counted if the candidate does not file as a write-in candidate.
Rule 2 - Write-in candidates are not allowed in presidential elections.
Rule 3 - A candidate losing the primary cannot file as a write-in candidate in the general election.
    State Rule 1 Rule 2 Rule 3
    Alabama
    Alaska X
    Arizona X
    Arkansas X
    California
    Colorado ?
