This video clip is one that I found myself leaning back, relaxing– and allowing to absorb into my mind and being. It is calming, refreshing and inspirational. The only down side was me asking myself– when it was over, where are the leaders of today?
I had almost forgotten the last part of Kennedy’s speech about human freedom. My, my

There have been and continue to be human rights violations on a massive scale in Sudan, northern Uganda and eastern Congo.
In Sudan, up to 300,000 have died and 2.5 million fled to refugee camps since 2003 in the country’s internal fighting.
In northern Uganda, thousands of children (some as young as 8-years old) were systemically captured by the rebel Lord’s Resistance Army, forced to become soldiers and kill.
In eastern Congo, there’s a war raging that’s killed approximately 5.4 million people since 1998, and one of its tools is the deliberate and systematic rape of women and girls.
While there is no magic formula to end these crimes, there is a strategic one. We can stop genocide and crimes against humanity now and in the future, through the “Three P’s”: Promoting Peace, Providing Protection, and Punishing the Perpetrators. Please act today to help end the human rights abuses and bring peace to three of Africa’s most troubled states. I sent the following email to the following people– and signed it with my name and address etc. Be a voice too– many voices are loud!!
———————————————————————–
Letter to President Bush & Vice President Cheney:
President: president@whitehouse.gov
Vice President: vice_president@whitehouse.gov
As a concerned American, I urge you to take immediate action to end the genocide in Darfur, Sudan and the crimes against humanity in eastern Congo and northern Uganda. While there is no magic formula to end these crimes, I believe there is a strategic one.
We can stop genocide and crimes against humanity now and in the future, through the “Three P’s”: Promoting Peace, Providing Protection, and Punishing the Perpetrators.
The 3 P’s for Sudan:
* Promote a comprehensive peace process with high-level diplomacy
* Protect innocent civilians through the UN/AU peacekeeping force
* Provide information to the International Criminal Court and support multilateral targeted sanctions to punish the perpetrators
The 3 P’s for eastern Congo:
* Establish a permanent office in eastern Congo to ensure U.S. leadership in the peace process
* Support MONUC – the UN’s peacekeeping force in Congo – in protecting the innocent civilians caught in the conflict.
* Call for the International Criminal Court to open an investigation into rape as a war crime in eastern Congo to begin punishing those most responsible.
The 3 P’s for northern Uganda:
* Support a post-peace agreement process and work to create a direct negotiating channel with the Lord’s Resistance Army
* Monitor efforts to protect civilians
* Work through the U.N. Security Council to punish the perpetrators by cutting off their support lines.
These specific actions will put pressure on the perpetrators, protect the people, support a robust investment in peace processes and promote the sustained commitment of diplomatic and financial resources. These steps are a small price to pay for justice, peace and dignity for people who have seen their lives destroyed. We must act swiftly and responsibly to end the continual violence and suffering in these nations. I strongly urge you to take these actions.
Sincerely,

h/t to southernvoice who has an excellent idea for those of us who want to illuminate the misgivings of the MSM when it comes to issues of this country (and in this case, the presidential election). First the KUTV article pointed out(Doug Ware author) by southernvoice:
SALT LAKE CITY – The man who some say undermined Al Gore’s run for the U.S. presidency in 2000 will hold a rally in Utah on Thursday night, with former mayor Rocky Anderson at his side.
Ralph Nader, a member of the so-called Green Party and 2008 presidential candidate, will be in Salt Lake City to rally potential voters on Thursday night at the University of Utah.
Nader and Anderson plan to discuss a multitude of issues, like the environment, U.S. health care, labor laws, and the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq.
The rally will be held at the University of Utah’s Libby Gardner Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. The event is free to attend, but people are encouraged to donate $10. Students are asked to donate $5.
2008 will be Nader’s sixth attempt at the U.S. presidency. He ran previously in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004.
Nader’s candidacy in 2000 was, and continues to be, the subject of much controversy since the race between Vice President Al Gore and Gov. George W. Bush was so close.
Many believe that Nader’s appearance on the ballot cost Gore the necessary votes to win Florida and the presidency, because Nader’s supporters tend to be more Democratic than Republican.
During the 2000 contest, Nader received 2,883,105 votes — which was roughly 2.7 percent of the popular vote. Exit polls showed, at the time, that Nader’s supporters preferred Gore over Bush by a large margin — meaning that had he not appeared on the ballot, Gore likely would have received enough votes to win Florida’s electoral votes, and therefore the presidency.
Instead, Bush eventually took Florida’s electoral votes which put him over the top and awarded him the presidency.
Nader’s votes additionally made a difference in New Hampshire, which Gore also lost. Either state would have given Gore the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency in 2000.
southernvoice’s suggestion (I have already done this):
The “reporter” doesn’t even know that Ralph is running as an Independent or that Cynthia McKinney is the Green Party candidate.
He doesn’t mention the actions of the partisan Supreme Court or the fact that George Bush took a lot of votes from Gore in that other election. Which I don’t know why he is talking about it in the first place.
I wrote to him and I suggest everyone else do the same. We should flood his inbox and demand that he report facts and truth if he can find them.

Good morning. Here’s something you can do right now. Why? Because we’re celebrating. For two reasons. Number one reason to celebrate: CNN poll from two days ago—Ralph Nader at six percent. After being totally blocked out from the mainstream media for months. (This is the fourth major poll putting us at five percent and above. Remember, John Anderson and Ross Perot both got into Presidential debates because they met the then League of Women Voters’ threshold of five percent in a number of polls.) And that’s quite remarkable. Six percent. With little to no national news coverage. Number two reason to celebrate: In 2004, we were on only 34 state ballots. Now, in 2008, thanks to your help, we’re heading toward 45 states. For example, in 2004, we were not on in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Arizona, Maryland, and Massachusetts. But we will be on these states in 2008. Today, for example, we will turn in more than 53,000 signatures in Pennsylvania. (25,000 valid required.) So, yes, we are moving on up. We’ll take the six percent in the polls. And we’d gladly take six percent national coverage from the mainstream media — to match our most recent poll number. But no. To the mainstream corporate media, we’re untouchable. Why? Because we represent what the majority of Americans want? Because we favor single payer health insurance? And Obama and McCain oppose it? Because we would quickly end the corporate and military occupation of Iraq? And Obama and McCain wouldn’t? Because we stand for a shift of the power away from the corporations and back into the hands of the American people? Because we would cut the bloated, wasteful military budget? Yes, that’s why. Because the corporate media is just doing its job. Protecting corporate power. And we are doing ours. Representing the majority of the American people. So, they are doing what they must do. And we are doing what we must do. And support the campaign that represents the American people. Against the corporate masters. And help us reach our new fundraising goal — $100,000 by August 10. Thanks to your generous contributions so far, we’re a third of the way home. Let’s keep moving on up. Both to our goal of $100,000 by August 10. And let’s drive our numbers in the polls to seven, eight, nine and ten points and beyond. So that even the corporate media will have to sit up and take notice. Together, we are making a difference. Onward The Nader Team P.S. Remember, for a donation of $200 or more to Nader/Gonzalez by Sunday August 3 at midnight, we’ll ship to you three anti-war books by former New York Times reporter and current Nader supporter Chris Hedges—Collateral Damage, What Every Person Should Know About War, and War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning. |

For those who never heard of Trashman, my first viewing was at RawDawgBuffalo’s site, where Dawg discussed this idiot’s claims of giving AIDS to hundreds of women on purpose.
But ole Trashman had even more devious shit going on and now faces prison time (at least until the prison population kills his ass). Jonathon Turley has the story:
New York has an interesting hoax case involving another YouTube-related crime video. In this case, Anton Dunn has been arrested for videos of himself proclaiming that he had poisoned millions of bottles of baby food –causing a panic. He said that he wanted to kill hispanic and black children. There was no evidence of poisoning, but they did have Dunn on videotape and he has now been charged with sending threats in interstate commerce and falsely claiming to have tampered with a consumer product.
Three videos were posted of Dunn, 42, who now faces ten years in prison. His biggest problem is not the ten years but the fact that his threats against black and hispanic children could give him an expected life expectancy of around a week in the cellblocks. Dunn himself is black.
Dunn shot the 10-minute video in what appeared a shower stall and identified himself as Trashman.
He sometimes wore a mask.
Insanity would seem a promising defense here, to say the least. The charge itself raises the question of when a YouTube video constitutes a threat. The threat was clear in this case. Dunn clearly wanted to start a panic. However, given the videos of people engaged in fantasy talk and acting, there could be some interesting challenges in future cases.
