TVA poised for ‘major’ rate increase

Tennessee Valley Authority CEO Tom Kilgore announced on Wednesday morning that customers should expect a major rate increase – 15-25 percent or higher, beginning with Oct. 1 billing cycles.

Kilgore, in a regionwide teleconference, said 30 percent increases put in force by some investor-owned utilities in the South reflect the same fuel-cost pressures experienced by TVA.

TVA is the largest public utility nationwide, serving more than 8 million customers in northern and east-central Mississippi, Tennessee and five other states.

Backing Up, to go forward– WMD’s

I was surfing through BBC this morning, and came across an interview with Lawrence Wilkerson. He was the chief Advisor to Powell. I found it facinating– epecially as he spoke about who knew what when. Anyway– here is the interview, as well as him speaking at a committee hearing in 06′. I guess when your out-of-the-loop for awhile, ya’ get chatty. lol lol

Here’s a small round up from the The Democratic Policy Committee that held a hearing on June 26, 2006 in the afternoon on the manipulation of pre-war Iraq intelligence.

“The main issue every member had was with the OSP (Office of Special Plans) that was run by Douglas Feith and the like. This was the secret intel group that prepared and delivered the more important Iraq briefings directly to Bush, and more importantly, in Larry Wilkerson’s words, “the Vice-President.”

Wilkerson: “As a Republican, I’m somewhat embarrassed by the fact that you’re the only member of my party here”
