Free Michael Moore Documentary

Posted by Lynda on September 4, 2008

Dear Supporter:
No one can make a documentary with as much political savvy, humor, and creativity as Michael Moore. And no one is as willing to tackle our elected officials with the same tenacity. After unleashing Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, and SiCKO in recent years, Moore has set his sights on the Bush administration and our nation’s voter turnout in his latest film, Slacker Uprising, which chronicles his 62-city swing state tour of college campuses just prior to the 2004 election.
Here’s the best part. To maximize the reach of his message and as a thank you gift to his fans, Moore is adopting a novel approach to distributing this film. He’s teaming up with Brave New Films to distribute the movie online, completely free of charge. Sign up now on http://slackeruprising.com and you will be notified when the film is available for free download on September 23.
You can also buy the DVD for $9.95, which will start shipping on September 23 and features extras like: Special Guest Joan Baez – America the Beautiful, Why People Like George Bush?, My Pet Goat, The O’Reilly Factor for Kids, Just Add Water and Heat – More Ramen and Clean Underwear, and more. Or should I say, Moore!
We share Moore’s hope that this film will get people to vote in this election, just as Moore’s 2004 tour sparked greater turnout. So go to http://slackeruprising.com now, spread the trailer around to your friends, and get inspired.
Yours,
Robert Greenwald
and the Brave New team

B’Man’s Scar Watch: Bush’s Gustav Update… Oil, Oil, Oil

Posted by BuelahMan on September 4, 2008

I can take the time to give The Scar a kudo’s when deserved (while, at the same time, suggest that bashing Bush is the easiest thing for any pundit to do at this time). Keith O is making a mint at it, while sidling up to the Dem party candidate.

Scar brow beats Bush for this idiotic ploy to brainwash Americans with the drill, drill, drill, meme. And, yes, it is nothing but political bullshit that proves Bush’s last thought is on the well-being of the people in the area affected.

So, kudos, Scar baby. Now, why don’t you call them all on their bullshit. Be a real redneck, Scar.

Black Republican Lunatic Illustrates The Right’s Mania

Posted by BuelahMan on September 4, 2008

This is amazing to me. I have never seen a black Bill O’Reilley wannabe before, but here he is.

It is pointless to argue facts with people like this. But the thing that surprises me is that a view like this can be had by black people, unless they have been coddled their whole lives and know nothing about the black realities in America (I do not know first hand, but believe me, my friends and I discuss it regularly). So, I am coming from the viewpoint of where do they find people like this, especially when they are black.

I just don’t get it.

You see, it isn’t just the white rednecks.

I believe that I would have felt threatened enough to have to stand and be prepared to defend myself. He was getting too close and the intimidation truly proves, as Cenk said, that he is losing an argument (and that apparently chaps this man’s ass). But this is the Bill O’Reilly way. Big man trying to intimidate with force or shouting. He has no other choice because his argument is simply WRONG.

When Bogus-Made Plans FAIL

Posted by BuelahMan on September 4, 2008

I believe that any thinking American (from appearances, there aren’t very many of us left) understands that we were lied to about every rationale for the illegal invasion of Iraq. Each and every claim has been refuted and shown for lies.

The only speculation at this point is the real “why” we did it. I believe it is multi-faceted, with imperialism being the forefront and us taking their energy resources second. However, the Big Money assholes who did this have miscalculated that by lying and killing so many people in Iraq to accomplish whatever the goal truly is has backfired.

For, as surely as I am a fat redneck, we have shit in our nest of rationale and have basically caused these very people we were “liberating” to easily see thru the lies and understand what we are doing… taking their shit.

But, do you think they are going to ‘let’ us take their shit without a fight? Would you?

From Gorilla’s Guides:

Iraq said not to favor U.S. firms to develop oil fields

Iran is pressuring Iraqi authorities to exclude U.S. oil majors from contracts to develop the country’s massive oil fields, sources at the Oil Ministry said.

The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the authorities currently favor Chinese and Russian companies to those of the United States.

Their remarks come following a contract the ministry signed last month with China’s state-owned oil firm CNPC.

The $3bn oil services contract is a renegotiated deal of the Ahdad oilfield which CNPC had agreed to develop in 1977.

China is the first country to win such a contract since the 2003 U.S. invasion of the country.

Russia had also signed a deal in 1977 to develop West of Qurna, one of Iraq’s largest fields with reserves estimated at billions of barrels.

It is not clear how much influence Iran had in persuading the government to renegotiate CNPC’s 1997 contract.

The Ministry of Oil and other key portfolios such the Ministry of Interior and Finance are in the hands of pro-Iran Shiite factions.

Analysts say it is difficult today for any major development, whether economic or political, to take place in Iraq without Iranian consent.

Iran has emerged as the country’s top trading partner. Its firms are present in the Kurdish north and southern Iraq carrying out projects worth billions of dollars.

Iranian goods are the most conspicuous merchandise in Iraqi shops.

Iraq, though occupied and administered by America, has grown to be so pendent on Iran that some analysts see it as a satellite state of Tehran.

WTF Thursday: When The People Stop The Policia State

Posted by BuelahMan on September 4, 2008

OK, there have been people that do this kind of crazy shit for years. Usually, you run them down (remember the streakers of the 70’s?), arrest them and take them to jail for processing. However, it is apparent that even Spain (or wherever this Spanish video was made) has a problem with their policia militar, very similar to the Police State problem we have in America.

The difference is that Americans are pussies and would have likely given the rental cops a standing ovation for the beating (with sticks, btw) very simialr to the “Don’t Taze me, bro’” scene where all those people just sat there and watched as they zapped him over and over.

I have come to the conclusion that Americans have lost their balls and I wish they would grow back before it is too late.

As for those rental cops in that video, I hope they learned a lesson about how far to go with their abuse. And if not, I hope the next time a mob jumps on them, they have to be toted out on a stretcher, bleeding and crying for mama.

Pieces of shit!

h/t Jonathon Turley

An extraordinary video has surfaced of a fan running on the field of a soccer game, only to be chased down by security officers. The crowd watches as the guards appear to beat the man and then rush the field and beat the security guards.

It is not clear where this video originates beyond a spanish speaking country.

For the video, click here.

Well of course our Government will be looking into this…

Posted by Lynda on September 4, 2008

Seems to me that whenever something goes amuck… and the Gov decides to have a Senate Investigate via committee, that things are going to roll down hill, be covered over and more money is going to be spent on deciding ‘not to blame the government’ for their pork barrel funds that went into this thing to begin with!

Where is Brockovich when ya need her?? lol.

HAZLETON, Pa. (AP) – Nearly a year after federal epidemiologists first sounded the alarm over a cluster of rare blood cancers in northeastern Pennsylvania, their research has zeroed in on a hardscrabble region 80 miles northwest of Philadelphia that is home to several Superfund sites and a power plant fired by waste coal. The U.S. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry said Monday that it confirmed an elevated number of cases of polycythemia vera, or PV, in a 20-mile stretch between Hazleton and Tamaqua.
It remains the first and only cluster of PV ever recorded in the United States, though the condition became reportable to state cancer registries only in 2001, and officials said it’s statistically likely there are others.

Residents in the affected area were four times as likely to suffer from PV as residents living in outlying areas, according to the government. Researchers cautioned, though, that their investigation was not designed to uncover an environmental link to PV, a cancer that results in the overproduction of red blood cells and can lead to heart attack or stroke. PV’s cause is unknown. “We don’t want to give the message that there are no connections,” said researcher Vince Seaman. “We just don’t have the data.”

Some residents blame their illnesses on a recycler that accepted hundreds of thousands of gallons of paint sludge, waste oils, used solvents, PCBs, cyanide, pesticides and many other known or suspected carcinogens. Environmental officials shut down the site in 1979, and it was later placed on the federal Superfund list and cleaned up. Other Superfund sites dot the area, too, along with a power plant that burns waste coal that some residents also suspect has caused health problems.

Researchers said they confirmed 33 cases of PV in Luzerne, Carbon and Schuylkill counties. That was a slightly lower number than they reported last October at the conclusion of their preliminary investigation into the cluster. The agency revealed its latest findings at a community meeting in Hazleton on Monday night. Researchers said they found that Pennsylvania does not accurately report the number of PV cases statewide. That’s because the criteria for diagnosing the illness have changed and because PV is reported only by hospitals.

Seaman said inaccurate PV reporting is also likely a problem in other states. U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter announced Monday that the Senate Appropriations Committee approved $262,000 for a planned Drexel University investigation into the cluster. The funding has yet to clear the full Senate. “It is clear that more research is necessary to pinpoint the reasons for this cluster, including whether environmental contaminants are a factor,” Specter said in a statement.

… and that insane amount of funds was spent for?????????????

Posted by Lynda on September 4, 2008

What exactly does this accomplish? … and for what cause was it done…? and really, what are they really thinking this will be used for???… and if they have no idea how it will effect the globe, i.e.: weather, water, quakes etc… or the ultimate fear some scientists have– what are they doing?? Just because ‘mankind’ CAN do something doesn’t mean ‘mankind’ should do it.

Landmark experiment to unlock secrets of Big Bang could cause end of the world, say scientists in court bid to halt it. It has cost 4.4billion+ and is designed to unlock the secrets of the Big Bang.
But rather than providing vital information about the beginning of life, the world’s biggest experiment could cause the end of the world, say scientists. They fear that the Large Hadron Collider – due to be switched on in nine days’ time – will create a black hole that could swallow the planet. By smashing sub-atomic particles together at close to the speed of light, the LHC aims to recreate the conditions that existed a fraction of a second after the birth of the universe or Big Bang, shedding light on the building blocks of life.

But critics claim that the ‘time machine’, which has been built 300ft beneath the French-Swiss border near Geneva, could instead spawn a shower of mini-black holes.  Within four years, one of these ‘celestial vacuums’ could have swollen to such a size that it is capable of sucking the Earth inside-out, said Otto Rossler, one of a group of scientists mounting a last-minute court challenge to the project.

They claim the experiment violates the right to life under the European Convention of Human Rights. However, the case at the European Court of Human Rights is not expected to delay the switch on, scheduled for Wednesday of next week. Professor Rossler, a German chemist, said the European Organization for Nuclear Research, or CERN, has admitted its project will create black holes but doesn’t consider them to be a risk.
He warned: ‘My own calculations have shown it is quite plausible that these little black holes survive and will grow exponentially and eat the planet from the inside. I have been calling for CERN to hold a safety conference to prove my conclusions wrong but they have not been willing.’

Those involved in the project have dismissed the claims as ‘absurd’ and insist that extensive safety assessments have found the experiment, which is funded by 20 countries, including the UK, to be safe.  A report written earlier this year stated: ‘Over the past billions of years, nature has already generated on Earth as many collisions as about a million LHC experiments – and the planet still exists.’  The lifespan of any mini-black holes would be ‘very short’, it added.

CERN spokesman James Gillies said the arguments before the European Court of Human Rights had been answered in ‘extensive safety assessments’.
He told the Sunday Telegraph: ‘The Large Hadron Collider will not be producing anything that does not happen routinely in nature due to cosmic rays. If they were dangerous we would know about it already.’

Scientists have used large particle colliders to smash atoms and pieces of atoms together for 30 years, but this machine has attracted so much attention because it is the most powerful ever built.  In the LHC beams of protons will be propelled through an 18-mile-long circular tunnel. More than 5,000 magnets lining the tunnel will accelerate the hundreds of billions of tiny particles to almost the speed of light, allowing them to complete one circuit in one-11,000th of a second.

There will be two beams going in opposite directions, each packing as much energy as a car traveling at 100mph.  When they reach almost the speed of light, they will be smashed head on into each other, breaking them into their constituent parts, including, perhaps, the building blocks of the universe
