False “Uncle Tom” Anger

Posted by BuelahMan on November 10, 2008

I will be dropping this subject after this post, but I felt like I had to address the madness of Nader hate over this subject. Anyone who knows anything about the man knows he never intended a racist thing towards the president elect. He said well of him and then said that Mr Obama had to make the choice of being an Uncle Sam (a patriot) or a toadie to the white man corporate run machine (Uncle Tom). He used a term a bit more harsh, but perfectly apt and descriptive of the thought (except to a few thin-skinned folk or those looking for a fight).

It is sad how he has taken a wrap over his usage of words simply because most people seemingly do not understand English and its nuances (especially when it is a mind like Nader’s speaking). They seemed more focused on trying to find the evil intent to make him some sort of Boogie Man.

Many of you know that I supported Nader for a variety of reasons. Mainly because he is correct and has been correct over all the important issues; notwithstanding his work in establishing and running several consumer protectionist agencies and companies. Working hard for YOU and ME his entire life. I can also say that during this entire campaign, I can not find a single individual that wanted to debate the issues that each candidate stood for and how Barack failed between the two. Not once and I asked many. Most voted for McCain. Oh well.

So my estimation is that the best man for the job (right now in history) was not elected. So be it. Now let’s move on. But don’t do so by trying to discredit the man for something he never meant as harm. By saying he is “irrelevant” when it was the system that kept him out of most of America’s sight.

John at jperryam recorded a video that mimics my feelings very closely and if you want to bitch about a couple of words that are “hurtful” someway, maybe you should also be outraged over a few other issues that Barack Obama FAILED on and Nader SUCCEEDED on.

On a side note, read the words the man said and tell me in a straight face that he “called” Barack Obama an Uncle Tom. Or even meant the man harm in any way. He offered a challenge that each and every one of you should also challenge the man with.

But no. It is more important to find some false assault on sensitivities than hold the damn man’s feet to the fire (the man YOU just elected).

Get some priorities, Please?

What Love Is…

Posted by BuelahMan on November 10, 2008

Easiest thing to do is let All-Mi-T explain “Love” in one of the best ways known to man:

Little momma woke me up. She scatted out of her room on the other side of the house I can imagine and crawled in my bed. I asked if she was ready to eat and she shook her head in the negative and said, “I just wanna lay on you daddy.” I said ok. She arranged the covers and adjusted the pillows and assumed her spot under my arms laying her head on my shoulder, and as she always does, grabbed my arm and placed it around her. With my arm around her waist and my hand on her stomach, she gently rubbed her hands up and down my arms and whispered “love you so much poppa.” I smiled.

As we returned to slumber again, I received a phone call. It was from my son. “Hey man, where you at Jones?” I asked. He responded, “I’m at the shop pops, you stay at home to day, I’m gonna run the shop for us today. You don’t have to come down, Ill catch the train and ride the bike back home…

… I tell ya folk, especially you men who may read this, gotta get you a number one son and a number one daughter, and even more so, start a family business. I mean, dang, best day I done had in a while, just hearing them two phrases: “I wanna lay on you daddy” and “Pop’s, I’m running the shop today.”

“Hope” Springs Eternal

Posted by BuelahMan on November 10, 2008

If there is nothing else that I can be happy about regarding a Barack Obama presidency (and I suspect there will be other reasons, as well) this is one thing that makes my heart sing out with joy (h/t to my Stumbling friend O0jocelyn0o:

To My New Jersey Readers (yes, there are some): Piss On ‘Em

Posted by BuelahMan on November 10, 2008

Very few people know this, but I do have a few readers from New Jersey. Even less know that I was actually born in Montclair, NJ.

You Yankees are something else (you know I love you, especially the Limey). From Jonathon Turley’s most excellent blog:

Saturation Politics: New Jersey Politician Accused on Urinating on Citizens

Voters often complain that politicians do little but piddle on them. Well, New Jersey Councilman Steven Lipski is accused of taking this metaphor to a more literal extent by urinating on people at a concert. There was a time when simply a warm handshake would do.

Lipski was ejected fro the 9:30 Club after being witnessed by club staff urinating onto patrons from a second-floor balcony during a band performance. The club said that he was well-known to them as someone who “gets really belligerent and drunk.”

Lipski has now been charged with simple assault. He could also face battery claims in tort actions.

Jersey City has had its share of lively politicians. Recently, Councilman Jerramiah Healy was found naked and passed on his front steps just before he was elected mayor.

Need A Job? Iraq’s Open For Business

Posted by BuelahMan on November 10, 2008

I understand that jobs are disappearing faster than any time in our history. But our government has a secret plan for us all. Thank goodness for Washington. I am sure many of you rednecks will be packing your shit to move to Iraq, right?

From McClatchy:

Need a job? Kentuckian suggests you consider Iraq

By Jim Jordan | Lexington Herald-Leader

“Iraq is open for business,” says Maurey Bond.

He should know. He’s been there since February.

The 31-year-old Lexington native and University of Kentucky graduate is general manager of the Iraqi Airways International Business Center near the Baghdad International Airport.

The center is in an economic zone that also has a convention center, a 100-room hotel, an eight-story office building and other facilities.

Bond says in an e-mail that Iraq is undergoing an “extraordinary transformation.” Baghdad, a city of 7 million, is growing economically and rebuilding its infrastructure. The projects are creating work for American companies that might need it in the current soft economy.

Bond wants Kentuckians to know he is there and can help them get their feet on the ground in a country that might seem strange to them. He went to Iraq in February as business development director for the Iraqi-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and moved to his current position in September.
