Jen’s Update: Whatever Your Religion (or not)… Please Think of Jen Today

Posted by BuelahMan on January 16, 2009

I read this last night (after spending 12 hours fighting a blue screen on my new pc and having lost 9 months worth of some data) and all I can say is that I love Jennifer very much. I have never met a soul like her before… someone so undeserving of her sickness (not that anyone “deserves” cancer). Someone who ALWAYS put others before herself (even when so very sick). I wish those of you that read here could get to know here, for she is truly one of the finest human beings I ever met in my life.

There will be no Freaky Sex Friday post today. There will be just this one post from me today, in honor of Jen.

Jennifer, I love you!

Down to Days

Entry by Todd A. & TRH from TN

GREETINGS JEN NATION – HOPE YOU’RE STAYING WARM!

My Dad sent the following update to his immediate family today. Sorry if my entries get shorter and less poetic from here on out – I’ll do my best J

I stopped after lunch to see Jennifer for a few minutes. Her Hospice nurse advised Kathy today that Jennifer is “down to days.”

Kathy had heard difficulty with breathing yesterday. I did not hear that yesterday even with being there about 45 minutes. I did, however, hear it plainly today. She is almost gasping for breath. I know that is not a good sign.

Kathy was trying to feed her small pieces of cut-up watermelon. Jennifer could not fully chew and swallow same, although she tried.

She also opened up her left eye on several occasions while I was there today, which she did not do yesterday. Her eyes are darker and seemingly more inset. Hospice advised they will be back tomorrow.

Love,

Todd Allen

UPDATE FROM TRH:

I visited my sister mid-afternoon. Father Jim Bretl, who officiated Sis’s wedding at St. Catherine’s, was there by her side.

We prayed over her and he anointed her with holy oils. As reported above, her left eye was open most of the time, although fairly vacant and glassy. Father left us with his holy book of prayers that are appropriate for someone God is calling home. He asked us to call his cell phone any time of day if the end is imminent.

We kept noticing her right arm shifting under the blanket, thinking she may have just been restless. Father got up to leave, giving my sister a gentle caress. Her arm emerged from the blanket and she reached out her hand to hold Father’s! It was such a beautiful moment. They shared a firmed grasp and Father assured Sis how much she is loved. – Love, TRH
