Although I do realize that basically all the politics in MS is corrupt.

Stanford Financial Group CEO Robert Allen Stanford, a Texas billionaire who has a home in the Virgin Islands, Chief Financial Officer James Davis and Chief Investment Officer Laura Pendergest-Holt, both of Baldwyn, were charged Tuesday by the Securities and Exchange Commission of bilking investors out of about $8 billion in high-yield certificates of deposit. Wealthy fraudsters like to hang their hats in 2 kinds of places: big cities and small communities. In big cities, they essentially blend in (e.g. Madoff in NYC), and in small communities they are often treated with deference (e.g. Stanford in Antigua). The common element is that in both types of places, people don’t ask too many questions about where the wealth came from.
