The War On Democracy

Set both in Latin America and the United States, the film explores the historic and current relationship of Washington with countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia and Chile. Pilger claims that the film “…tells a universal story… analysing and revealing, through vivid testimony, the story of great power behind its venerable myths. It allows us to understand the true nature of the so-called “war on terror“. According to Pilger, the film’s message is that the greed and power of empire is not invincible and that people power is always the “seed beneath the snow”.

Pilger interviews several ex-CIA agents who purportedly took part in secret campaigns against democratic countries and who he claims are profiting from the war in Iraq. He investigates the School of the Americas in the U.S. state of Georgia, where General Pinochet’s torture squads were reportedly trained along with tyrants and death-squad leaders in Haiti, El Salvador, Brazil and Argentina.

The film uses archive footage to support its claim that democracy has been wiped out in country after country in Latin America since the 1950s. Testimonies from those who fought for democracy in Chile and Bolivia are also used.

Segments filmed in Bolivia show that for the last five years huge popular movements have demanded that multinational companies be refused to access the country’s natural reserves of gas, or to buy up the water supply. In Bolivia, Pilger interviews people who say that their country’s resources, including their water and rainwater, were asset stripped by multinational interests. He describes how they threw out a foreign water consortium and reclaimed their water supply. The narrative leads to the landslide election of the country’s first indigenous President.

In Chile, Pilger talks to women who survived the pogroms of General Augusto Pinochet, in remembrance of colleagues who perished at the hands of the dictator. He walks with Sara de Witt through the grounds of the torture house in which she was tortured and survived. Pilger also investigates the “model democracy” that Chile has become and claims that there is a façade of prosperity and that Pinochet’s legacy is still alive.

The film also tells the story of an American nun, Dianna Ortiz, who tells how she was tortured and gang raped in the late 1980s by a gang reportedly led by a fellow American clearly in league with the U.S.-backed regime, at a time when the Reagan administration was supplying the military regime with planes and guns. Ortiz asks whether the American people are aware of the role their country plays in subverting innocent nations under the guise of a “war on terror”. Former CIA agent and Watergate scandal conspirator Howard Hunt, who describes how he and others overthrew the previously democratically elected government. Hunt describes how he organised “a little harmless bombing”. Duane Clarridge, former head of CIA operations in South America is also interviewed.

Pilger traveled through Venezuela with its president, Hugo Chavez, who he regards as the only leader of an oil-producing nation who has used its resources democratically for the education and health of its people. The Venezuelan segment of the film features the coup of 2002, captured in archival footage. The film holds that the 2002 coup against Chavez was backed by rich and powerful interests under U.S. support and that Chavez was brought back to power by the Venezuelan people. Pilger describes the advances in Venezuela’s new social democracy, but he also questions Chavez on why there are still poor people in such an oil-rich country.

Hoping For Eideh Shoma Mobrak

Mr Obama lies so much and with a smile and straight face that I am unsure what to make of this. As Kelso’s Nuts pointed out in these comments, “Was there one thing Obama said during the campaign that wasn’t a lie?” Which can be extended to post election, as well.

I know you defenders of the Savior don’t think he “lied” per se, but said things that we “strategic” or had to “change” his philosophy because things on the ground changed, or that he had to say certain things to get elected, but he would be better than McCain and that it is all part of a “special plan”.

But an untruth is still a lie, intentional or not, purposeful or not, reactionary or not.

So, when I hear the words like in that video, yes, I have hope. But I also know that the man has lied a multitude of times about other issues (including foreign relations related issues) so, frankly, I don’t trust him to be telling me the truth totally in this video. There are a variety of reasons why he would make this video, but I must admit that I am intrigued by it and have to wonder if this will give “hope”, REAL hope to Iranians, Americans and all the rest of the world.

I don’t hold a lot of faith in him and this could simply be something that is a sleight of hand move to appease the likes of me (and other war on terror dissenters). But I “hope” it is a real outreaching to Iran and its leaders. A good indication would be for President Obama to admit that the Iranian president never threatened to wipe Israel off the map… that he has been made a monster because that is what the American leadership needs to keep their fear-mongering going. Did you pick up on that?

If Mr Obama is truly pursuing other avenues to this decades long assault, then he must admit the lies and deceit previously used. IF he were to do that, I believe that “hope” might be real. The fact is that we have been instigating shit like a school yard bully, but favoring one of the kids much more than the other. Even stepping in to train them and arm them.

So, there is a hypocritical ring to his description of Iran, since he basically described us and our actions when describing them. Maybe he could give America a history lesson on our meddling in their affairs for many decades and how, if the shoe were on the other foot, we would be pissed and yes, might revolt against the Empire’s aggression.

But other than that, this was an amazing change in procedure and had a ring of truth to it (but that is what makes Mr Obama so good: his ability to lie and smile you into believing it). It offers some hope, I just “hope” it is sincere. The next step is to take Israel and their neocon crazy war mongering fools who use our weapons and spy on us relentlessly (and may have been instrumental in the 9/11 attacks) to task and to stop the preferential treatment.

THEN we would have real hope. But are there any suckers out there willing to bet that is going to happen?a

It’s easy to dismiss and mock if that’s what one really wants to do.  And the caveats and causes for skepticism are obvious (it’s just a video; there was nothing done about the war in Gaza; he just signed this last week, etc. etc.).  But it’s inconceivable that anything like this video would have been possible at any point during the last eight years or even the couple of decades prior to that.  The protests that the video will inevitably provoke by itself demonstrates that it is a political risk.  Genuine expressions of respect, symbolic though they might be, can transform relations between previously hostile people and countries.  Politically-motivated demonization (of the U.S. by Iranian hard-liners and of Iran by American and Israeli hard-liners) becomes more difficult when this is the tone that prevails and this is the face that is shown.  And rapprochement, if it’s to happen, can only begin with steps like this.

It may be that the Obama administration wants a diplomatic solution with Iran out of necessity and it may be that this is just a fig leaf designed to placate various factions.  Only time — and subsequent actions — will tell.  But whatever else is true, it is a weak, decaying and insecure nation that beats its chest and relies on ugly threats to establish its “toughness” and “credibility” with the world, while the mark of a strong and confident nation is the willingness to take a first step like this one towards its adversaries:

SHAWNEE — A man who thought he was going to die confessed last week to a decades-old slaying.

James Brewer, 58, didn’t die. Instead, he found himself Monday in a Tennessee courtroom facing a murder charge. Authorities say he killed a man he thought was involved with his wife in 1977.

Brewer, a Shawnee resident, was in an Oklahoma City hospital early last week when his wife called the Shawnee Police Department, saying her husband wanted to confess to a murder.

“He wanted to cleanse his soul, because he thought he was going to the great beyond,” Shawnee police detective Tony Grasso said.

Grasso interviewed Brewer at the hospital, but Brewer had trouble communicating because of the stroke he suffered. In the beginning, his wife agreed to translate for him but decided partway through the interview that they needed an attorney, Grasso said.

Grasso photographed and fingerprinted Brewer and contacted authorities in Tennessee.

Brewer surrendered to Tennessee authorities on Thursday. He appeared in court Monday with the same lawyer he had almost 32 years ago. He is being held in lieu of bail. A bail hearing is set for March 30.

For almost three decades, James and Dorothy Brewer had been living in Shawnee under the name of Michael and Dorothy Anderson, authorities said. Dorothy was sometimes referred to as “Dolly” or “Dot.”

The couple lived in a modest home on the south side of Shawnee. Brewer had worked at Central Plastics, a manufacturing plant, until a previous stroke about three years ago.

Brewer was arrested after the April 27, 1977, shooting death of Jimmy Carroll and charged with first-degree murder. His $50,000 bail was reduced to $10,000. When he was released on bail, Brewer legally changed his name, and the couple left for Nashville, Tenn. They later moved to Texas and then to Shawnee, where Brewer worked as a machinist for 17 years and where they raised their daughter.

“It was easy to legally change your name in 1977,” Lewis County, Tenn., Sheriff Dwayne Kilpatrick said.

Brenda Buie, Carroll’s younger sister, said she hopes this is the beginning of the end.

“I never thought this day would come,” she said.

Buie was at the hearing Monday and said James Brewer and his wife didn’t show any remorse or speak to the Carroll family.

Buie said Dorothy Brewer was at the center of the dispute between the two men.

There were rumors that James wanted to kill Jimmy, rumors that Jimmy never took seriously, she said.

Buie said the Carroll family will meet with the district attorney’s office this week about charges against Dorothy Brewer.

Carroll was a divorced father of twin 5-year-old boys at the time of his death.

“They don’t hardly remember their daddy,” Buie said, referring to her nephews. “I was 20 at the time — it’s imprinted in my mind.”

About 4 p.m. on April 27, 1977, James and Dorothy Brewer pulled up in front of a service station in Hohenwald, Tenn. Carroll was inside the store waiting for his mother to pick him up, Buie said.Carroll learned Brewer wanted to talk to him, but friends warned the man as he approached Brewer’s vehicle, she said.

Carroll was shot twice — once in the abdomen and once below the left shoulder — with a handgun. After the shooting, Carroll walked back into store, fell down and died at the scene, Buie said.

“He left him (Carroll) lying in a pool of blood,” said Kilpatrick, the Lewis County, Tenn., sheriff.

WTF Thursday: Obama’s Budget- The Ravaging of America

No, I don’t blame him solely. I put more blame on the sheople who elected him due to their ignorance of his true identity and purpose. But that is yet another ass-chewing by me and I already gave you one today. So, let’s get down to some brass tacks regarding what is happening with the budget that has been approved.

You see, I took basic math in elementary school, algebra and geometry in high school  (and actually paid my own way through college to tap into various higher forms of math, as well). But, for the sake of the uneducated redneck out there, let’s stick with basic addition/subtraction.

The first thing you need to know is that when these lying assholes tell you something like the Tarp is for $700Billion, they lie (or hold back the entire truth) because the actual Cash injection into these bailouts is more on the order of $8.5Trillion (and remember that your Savior voted FOR that bailout). I wonder where that money comes from? (Think about your mother’s retirement as one source)

Basically, all the revenue of the US tax dollars are basically going to two major portions: Military and Bank Bailouts. Somewhere to the order of $2.3Trillion. Now, for the math part, Individual Household federal taxes are in the neighborhood of $1T.

Do the math, please and tell me HOW the hell we are going to pay for this as tax payers? There is but one way and the fact is that something MUST be cut. So, let me ask you, where do you think the cuts will take place? Do you think that Mr Obama loves you so much that he will protect your money and slash the military budget?

Yeah, sheople, for sure.

They will do exactly like your previous Democratic Savior did (Bill “Blowjob” Clinton) and cut social services even more. Less healthcare. Less education. Less public services.

But thank God we have our military, right? So, you can all fall in line and join the complex?

Sheople are quite ignorant to history. Even recent history.

So, back to the problem: How would we normally make up these differences? By selling Treasury bonds, etc. But when interest rates are near 0%, who (in their right mind) would invest with no gains on their investment? Think it will be China to save the day by buying even more of our junk dollars.

Think again. China is already so heavily invested in us, they are already saying they are pulling out of the dollar investment plans.

But even more of a blood boiler for me is that they money that we have already given to the banks in hopes of instigating an influx of credit to continue the faux economy and the citizen’s brainwashing, is actually being used by these banks to buy other banks or to pay debts to foreign banks with possible return of our money. You, Mr and Mrs Redneck are funding the richest assholes in America as they pay themselves for their thievery and to pay off their debts (this is on YOUR nickel). They will use YOUR money to make themselves even richer and more difficult for you.

These bank bailouts will make the economy worse because it is a farce to begin with. It is a lie, people (excuse me, “Sheople”). The bank bailouts are not providing any new jobs, nor credit for small business. You are simply giving away your hard earned money for the rich fuckers who couldn’t give a shit about you.

They are using YOUR money to invest in affiliated hedge funds that cannot be traced. In other words, they made the problem happen and they are using YOUR money to pay off their own creditors (which in many cases is someone affiliated with them… their own creditors are themselves). As they bail themselves out with YOUR money and buy up these other banks, the stock market is plummeting. This means that if you are invested in the markets (thank God I am too poor to have made that stupid assed mistake), you are losing your ass (and we are no where near the bottom). These fat cats who caused this will end up buying the most viable companies up at a fraction of their worth or cost.

The only “Stimulus” in this plan is to continue the stimuli for the rich assholes who have created the entire fiasco.

And may the Sheople say, “Amen”?

AIG’s Congressional Bonus Plan

The thievery is even bigger than I wrote about yesterday. Sure, The Obama Man is part of it, but it reaches deep, across both aisles (heavily Dem last election… imagine them picking the winner for us). Max Baucus and Chris Dodd (the two heaviest hitters chairing the two committees that oversee AIG) got the most. How convenient is that? Just a coincidence?

Massie Ritsch at Opensecrets has an article that addresses and breaks down the moneys sent to Congress from AIG. And the redneck Sheople said in unison, “Its just a coincidence.”

Before the Fall, AIG Payouts Went to Washington

As long as everyone’s talking today about AIG’s payouts to its executives and foreign banks, let’s remember the payouts AIG has made over the years to politicians. In the last 20 years American International Group (AIG) has contributed more than $9 million to federal candidates and parties through PAC and individual contributions. That’s enough to rank AIG on OpenSecrets.org’s Heavy Hitters list, which profiles the top 100 contributors of all time.

Over time, AIG hasn’t shown an especially partisan streak, splitting evenly the $9.3 million it has contributed since 1989. In the last election cycle, though, 68 percent of contributions associated with the company went to Democrats. Two senators who chair committees charged with overseeing AIG and the insurance industry, Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), are among the top recipients of AIG contributions. Baucus chairs the Senate Finance Committee and has collected more money from AIG in his congressional career than from any other company–$91,000. And with more than $280,000, AIG has been the fourth largest contributor to Dodd, who chairs the Senate’s banking committee. President Obama and his rival in last year’s election, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), are also high on the list of top recipients.

AIG has been a personal investment for lawmakers, too. Twenty-eight current members of Congress reported owning stock in AIG in 2007, worth between $2.5 million and $3.3 million. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), one of the richest members of Congress, was by far the biggest investor in AIG, with stock valued around $2 million.

Last year AIG and its subsidiaries spent about $9.7 million on federal lobbying, or about $53,000 for every day Congress was in session in 2008. The company’s spending on advocacy last year was down from an all-time high of $11.4 million spent on lobbying in 2007.

AIG’s bonus plan is only a minuscule part of the screwing we are getting. Its one of those shiny little objects to focus attention on, while the real thivery is going on in the vault. I know, I know. You can’t bear the fact that your Savior might be an active participant in the fucking of America. But as the age old saying goes, “Follow The Money”, honey. But I noticed that Opensecrets.org (the source for the numbers) is shut down this morning and the links lead to nowhere.

Coincidence, maybe, even likely. But it is amazing how many coincidences have happened over the past decade or so. Know what I mean? We have endured a decade or more of bad info, coincidences (like the incredible one that PNAC wrote about and then occurred magically when they were in power of our government. Isn’t it amazing how that shit happens right when the most evil and vile humans take control and their long sought agenda finally happens? Yeah, just a coincidence.

Obama Received a $101,332 Bonus from AIG

Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are – Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama.

The A.I.G. Financial Products affiliate of A.I.G. gave out $136,928, the most of any AIG affiliate, in the 2008 cycle.  I would note that A.I.G.’s financial products division is the unit that wrote trillions of dollars’ worth of credit-default swaps and “misjudged” the risk.

Is it just me that gets suspicious when a man gets that much campaign money and suddenly they are Too Big to fail and get what is obviously preferential treatment? Are all you rednecks so gullible to believe that money isn’t greasing the wheels of opinion and action?

Great Shefflera Pruning Experiment Update

Josh asked about the Great Shefflera Pruning Experiment, so I thought I’d give an update with pictures. Notice the new growth and the nodules that form at the cut-off points. Its getting close to time to take them back outside where they will really flourish. But considering we may not have even watered these plants in three or four months and they still look healthy is amazing to me.

AIG: America’s Insurance Gluttony

The first thing is to educate your self to the truth of what is being done to us.

If there has ever been a case for understanding how the rich rule the poor, the entire fiasco with AIG is one of the very best indicators of all. It simply proves beyond any shadow of doubt that no matter which of the two parties elected into office to run things, they are all corrupt and will favor the rich.

Traveling yesterday, I listened to Terry Gross interview Grechen Morgenson and she lays out the thievery and obvious hypocrisy of the rich’s wrongdoing and making poor people pay for their misdeeds.

Fresh Air looks In To AIG (especially the second half)

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gretchen Morgenson discusses the latest news in bailouts and banking — including the recent revelation that insurance giant AIG plans to pay $450 million in executive bonuses to the employees who work in the unit that crippled the company and contributed to its $40.5 billion loss.

AIG’s spending habits and the identity the other companies it transacts with — also known as its counterparties — have been are under particular scrutiny since the company received $175 billion in taxpayer guarantees as part of the federal bailout.

In her Mar. 14 New York Times article, “At A.I.G., Good Luck Following the Money,” Morgenson hypothesized why AIG’s actions have angered so many, writing: “Even as investors, employees, communities and taxpayers have been battered by the crippled financial system, A.I.G.’s counterparties were saved from losses on deals they struck with the insurer.”

Morgenson is an assistant business and financial editor and columnist for The New York Times, the author of Forbes Great Minds Of Business and the co-author of The Woman’s Guide To The Stock Market.

So, when Larry Summers, (Obama’s Chief Economics Adviser says: “We are a country of law. There are contracts. The government cannot just abrogate contracts,”

Are you willing and sheople-like enough to agree with him? They are willing to abrogate against the public, so do you smell any hypocrisy?

Let’s nutshell this bad boy: the assholes at AIG know it is going down. They are ravaging the American public’s money and will pay these bonuses with the government’s ok, yet they will hold you accountable for missing a few dollars on a tax return.

I wonder what would happen if every thinking American would refuse to pay their income tax?

Why Would Obama Deceive Us?

I posted Alex Jones new film, The Obama Deception over the weekend. This film illuminates all the lies and rhetoric the man used to get elected and delves into why that would be. As I have said countless times, he is beholden and owned by Big Money, especially Big Military and Banking. Down in the comments section of that post unspy wrote (and is part of the script of the associated YouTube video presented below) about a historian quoted several times in the film who wrote a book called “Surviving the Cataclysm” in 1999 and the critical part is that Webster Tarpley was right in his predictions. I have read a good bit from him and watched several videos of him giving speeches, etc. He knows what he is talking about but gets little media attention. Which appears to be their mode of operation… hide the ones who were correct and illuminate the ones that were wrong (and even make them a part of the “solution”… like making Tim Geithner Treasury Sec.)

They take us for chumps when it is YOU that is chumplike. Not me.

So, what has happened here is that these shady derivative trading schemes the Big Money asswipes developed have actually been the downfall of our country. It is the sub-prime lending and all us worthless rednecks who can’t pay our bills any more. That’s less than $1 Trillion.

The estimates of the derivatives is in the $Quadrillions. It is more than the entire global economy combined.

What you are seeing here is a deception, that sleight of hand, that shiny little object that gathers your ignorant attention while the real culprit is stabbing you, this country and the world in the back with the other, unnoticed hand.

And I know rednecks who are STILL blaming the poor. I rode with one all day yesterday who is one fine person, but who is obviously blinded by the likes of Neal Bortz and Fox News. Seriously, how does someone even stomach the idiocy of Neal Bortz, and then insist he isn’t “partisan” but “Libertarian”. Bwahahaha

This isn’t about Party Politics and you fools who keep defending the Democratic party need to understand that they, too, are the problem.

You must understand that our government is lying to us with virtually every breath. ALL of them, with so few exceptions to make them all untrustworthy. They have media shills who whether or not they believe their stupidity they blabber or not, is part of America’s dumbing down. They have stolen your soul and everything you will ever work for. You just don’t know it yet.

If you study history, as I have, this was all very predictable. In the movie you see Webster Griffin Tarpley speaking over and over… back in 1999 he wrote a book called ‘Surviving the Cataclysm’ in which warns of the worst financial crisis in human history. His second chapter bares the title: “Derivative Madness.” In short, this man not only predicted the coming collapse 10 years in advance, but he also understood the true cause. If that is not enough evidence to bring you to a firm belief what this film says is true, then NOTHING will convince you.

You people need to wake up to what is happening. This is not about saving the economy. It is not about holding those accountable who did this. It is about bringing down this country and starting afresh with a new currency and a new poor social class who are dominated by the rich.

Am I crazy? Or are you for not paying enough attention… hoping that things will get better when you know in your heart it is a lie.

HINT: When Ben Bernanke speaks, do the opposite. He said that the recession will be over this year. Maybe, but only because by then it will be a full-fledged Depression. Why? Because the bankers will not (nor will the American tax payer, as they are attempting to make us do) be able to pay for what they have done.

We are crashing, people. Mark my words, this ship is sinking and the guy at the helm is complicit and a liar. No, you right-wing fruitcakes, Obama didn’t START the fire, but he is not interested, at all, in putting it out. His bosses want this fire to burn, unquenchable, until there is no more fuel. Then the fire goes out by itself.

I know my chastisement will really hurt the feelings of you who have so much invested in Obama (I have already lost supposed “friends” over it). But let me explain how I feel about this. You and your lackadaisical stupidity are a part of the problem. Even if you are only standing by watching as the big hairy prison thug is raping my ass, you are complicit because you won’t help stop the assault. And therein lies the problem: my real friends would do anything they could to protect me from that ass-raping idiot. It is the mealy mouthed, Obama idiot asskissers who are even more of a problem than the right-wing neocon types. We know they are more concerned of their personal investment into Obamamania than truth. It is evident.

But you ignorant, TV fed rednecks are no better.

Complacency is America’s Achilles tendon. Their brainwashing has worked to make that happen.

B’Man’s Sabbath Watch: To Hell With Hell… The Root Of All Evil In The Christian Church

One thing that I hardly ever share (I am not sure if I ever wrote about it here or not) is that, at one time, I was very much involved in church and specifically that I was once labeled an “Assistant Pastor” in 2 different churches (one Methodist, one a non-denominational). I always hated that particular title because I am obviously not the type to “shepherd” or “care for” others spiritually, or otherwise (I know my place in life). Back then, if asked, I always answered by saying “I am a teacher of what I have learned”.

My point was to tell people how I came to my bit of understanding and show them how I came to that understanding. I then always asked that they check on their own. Research. Not just read their Bible (usually the King James version down here), but to truly study the word meanings and context (using a concordance and other study aides). To try to learn about the idiomatic language used then… how flowery and full of imagery it was. Things I learned, I could teach, but then insisted that they prove it to themselves with their own study.

Lord, Please Let Me Swindle These Poor Schmucks Just One More Time...

Most importantly, I learned (subsequently teaching others) the etymology of the words used in the early Greek and other languages of the day and even further back into the Hebrew of the Old Testament. I found many interesting things that changed my entire perspective of The Bible, Christianity and spiritual enlightenment. I hope that I can write more specifically about certain topics and let you do your own study to compare and debate perhaps. I will likely devote a new page for it and add this post to that page to start it.

During the second year of “pastoring” a small Methodist church three Sunday evenings a month (the real Pastor was travelling to 3 other churches one Sunday a month) I was asked to study and “preach” about heaven and hell. At the outset I figured it would be the standard “hell-fire and damnation” blurb you can pick up on almost any southern AM radio station (no matter how much that never really jived with me for some reason, but what did I know and who was I to question those that do). However, being true to my promise of “teaching what I learned”, I had to learn.

It took me three years before I could feel like I understood what I was able to teach and it caused me to be kicked out of the Methodist Church (I actually quit before the church rebelled from the system, asking me to take over the pastor position… I could not allow that to be because of me). What I learned I could not justify by anything I had ever heard before in my life… from any other preacher. It was only through some intense study did I begin to make pieces come together. Then the Internet came and I was suddenly able to reference materials that confirmed and proved what I was trying to disprove (that my intuition was dispelling hell and eternal torment and “surely Preacher man knows what he is talking about”).

You see, what I found was the truth about how translations manipulated early Greek words to change their everyday meanings from when they were originally used (this done hundreds of years later). I found that the very earliest “Church Fathers” like Clement of Alexandria and his protege  Origen had a totally different idea about the afterlife (and spirituality, in general). I learned that the Roman Catholic Church became the official religion of Rome (and subsequently the world as was known back then) they used mythic religion afterlife threats to help control the masses (Augustine came from the pagan religion Mancheanism which at its core was the belief in Good vs Evil and held the concept of eternal torment: Augustine is also instrumental in forming the religious opinion of “just war“, which in and of itself is anathema to Christ’s message).

I learned that the current day church STILL uses this by and large to control people and their money. To instill fear and control over minds that cannot even fathom the depths of the claim. Forming minds of children into fear controllable mindless robots who, at every chance, beg to be able to live free and experience truth and real life.

You see, in my opinion (and right down to the nut-cuttin’), Christianity forces its believers into an irreconcilable battle in their mind. Logic and the fear factor do not equate, so one must become stupified to “believe”. Brainwashed to be able to allow contrary thought to reside without question.

It boils down to one very simple question that their fear control cannot answer: How can a “good father” punish His child for all eternity in torture and neverending torment?

Answer: A “good father” can not. Especially THE Good Father.

The very basic premise of today’s Christianity is wrong and this is why it is falling apart. This is why our Founding Fathers, by and large did not believe the way most Americans do now. Nowhere near the same.

Anyway, I have read some of Bishop Spong’s writings before and have agreed with many things. In this case, I thought that instead of bashing the idiocy of Christianity, I would give you a viewpoint sort of like mine.

John Shelby Spong, retired Episcopal bishop from Newark, N.J., talks about why Christianity must change its view of hell. Spong is one of the leading spokepersons for liberal Christianity.
