It’s not exactly what you think, but to me this is very, very cool.

(There are several Mariachi band cover songs found here. Queen’s Another One Bites The Dust, The Cranberry’s “Zombie”, Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall”, and Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” (and more). But you know I’m a redneck and Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of my favs. What can I say?

I’m an urban punk-rocker and rap fanatic and I love Lynyrd Skynyrd, too. I don’t know too many people who don’t!
I was kind of curious what the Mariachi take on this — very, very complicated song politically — would be like. I like Neil Young, also, but there was a time in the 80s when Neil Young flirted with Reaganism and became kind of a (Canadian) White Pride-ist and anti-Mexican. I understand Neil Young has re-acquired his good sense! I have no idea if the Mariachi version’s fidelity to the Van Zandt lyrics were intentionally referring to this or not. I doubt it. But the ironies are cool. And you know I’m always looking for weird ironies in things.
Cool stuff here.
