B’Man’s Patriot Watch: David Simon

I am certainly glad that Chycho decided to post this and enlighten folks (Chycho has recently been on an important hiatus).

Part One

Part Two

I think my buddy Jay Midnyte would be interested in Mr Simon’s thoughts on free market capitalism.

  1. I didn’t need to watch the Wire to know how bad PG COUNTY Maryland and DC schools are! I’m from there lol. And i know exactly how the people there think. And I know exactly how far behind they are because i’m in douglas County Colorado now (because of the collapse of WORLDCOM) and I failed basically everything when I first moved here when I was 14! Alot of kids in the high school here that came from the east coast ended up dropping out because they were too far behind. Including me. I got in college because I got a good score on the ACT. So yea we didnt learn shit in Maryland. It’s sad. My teachers there used to say we’re being pushed through the system and setup to fail. I didn’t get it then but I get it now! Everything I know now is mostly self taught.

Everything he said I agree with. Especially when he said capitalism has to be managed in a way that gives a sense of national purpose and benefits everybody. And I agree with Einstein when he said it’s a deterioration the people that causes these problems. Nobody gets mad even though they know the top 1% control about 60% of the wealth. We embrace our overlords and defend them and their bailouts because “we need them” and the world ends without them.

The drug trade is Kissinger and the big boyz once again. Prohibition of alcohol resulted in the same thing heroin and coca and weed produces; CRIME, VIOLENCE, & DEATH. But MONEY for the corporations who benefit from privatizing prisons and labor. Like 2pac said, “instead of war on poverty, they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me.”

At the end of the day I don’t think ANY system will work until the general populace changes its priorities to the things that matter. Not VH1 and MTV. Until then, all systems will end in oligarchy. The only hope for any real change is hyperinflation.

  2. When the economy affects our ability to travel, be entertained, and buy food, then change will happen.

Wow. I had no idea you KNEW about the very place they are discussing. That is weird.

I don’t know anything about The Wire (never even heard of it before these clips), but it sounds like Simon nailed it. I don’t watch much TV, if at all. Sometimes when I’m sick and down for the count on the couch…

      The last two sentences struck.

“The only real hope is hyperinflation”

I’m old enough to remember inflation (not sure it ever hit “hyper”) back in the 70’s and 80’s. I grew up during that time and remember how hard it was (but it was nothing in comparison to the Big D).

As for the economy affecting travel, entertainment and food, I have been there for quite some time.

I have not been on a vacation of any sort since 2002 (and that was a Sales meeting paid for by my company for 3 days in Vegas). I long ago became affected by the economy. Where the fuck is everyone else?

  3. Well this is gold’s performance (adjusted for inflation) during that period and it looks like we’re going to blow through the 70-80’s inflation! Gold’s current rise has already completed 50% of the spike of 1979-1982. http://jsmineset.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Gold-chart-11-16-2009.pdf

And our economy is in a boom compared to what it will be in 2011 and 2012!
