Hello Fellow Debt Slaves

Posted by BuelahMan on March 15, 2012

The plan was conceived and implemented a long time ago. I have tried with every step to counterpunch by reinvention of myself and vocation, but apparently to no avail. I recently interviewed for a position at a local company (this was my first interview in about 4 months). I spent 2.5 hours interviewing with every swinging Richard Noggin there, including the owner of the company. It all felt right, until each interviewer asked me about how much money I use to make. This was quite telling, since every aspect of what they needed, I fit to a T.

Its been three weeks and I have heard nothing. I left a voice mail message for the direct manager of my position and I was never called back.

Dr Doug did recently get a job, where he is far more qualified and educated than anyone at his job. And he is making 1/2 of what he did a couple of years ago.

That’s a 50% cut.

On top of that, you can expect another 50% cut when the rest of the world (especially the BRIC nations) pull the plug on the petro dollar’s world currency status. It will happen via massive inflation (just as Bernanke said he would, as I covered here).

Watch this.

Another fact is that decent job growth is over. Even tho the pretty picture painted for us (AKA “lies”) by our government tells us that there is job growth, the only “growth” is shitty jobs.

Paul Craig Roberts lays it out by using Shadow Stats numbers and a description of the bogus birth/death model. What few jobs that are “created are suck jobs:

Let’s look now at the kind of jobs that were created. Of the new jobs reported by BLS,
92% are in services. Of this 92%, only 7% could possibly relate to exportable services–architectural, engineering, and computer systems services.

Of the reported new service jobs, 29% are in health care and social services. The categories that account for the health services jobs are ambulatory health care services and hospitals. Waitresses and bartenders account for 20% of the reported new jobs.

Employment services account for 29% of the new reported jobs. Transportation and warehousing accounted for 5% of the reported new jobs, despite a loss of 60,000 jobs in general merchandise and department stores.

In other words, the vast majority of the new jobs are low paying jobs, except for a few truck drivers.

So lets all drive trucks for a living.

More and more low wage folks are allowed to enter this country and they are taking the once more lucrative positions (look at how many doctors are Pakistani, or whatever). Its basically the same across the board, like in engineering. In many cases, as wakjob points out in the comments of the above PCR post, the imported wage degraders and other folks who “took our jobs” has ruined many a company:

Companies ruined or almost ruined by imported Indian labor

Adaptec – Indian CEO Subramanian Sundaresh fired.
AIG (signed outsourcing deal in 2007 in Europe with Accenture Indian frauds, collapsed in 2009)
AirBus (Qantas plane plunged 650 feet injuring passengers when its computer system written by India disengaged the auto-pilot).
Apple – R&D CLOSED in India in 2006.
Australia’s National Australia Bank (Outsourced jobs to India in 2007, nationwide ATM and account failure in late 2010).
Bell Labs (Arun Netravalli took over, closed, turned into a shopping mall)
Boeing Dreamliner ES software (written by HCL, banned by FAA)
Bristol-Myers-Squibb (Trade Secrets and documents stolen in U.S. by Indian national guest worker)
Caymas – Startup run by Indian CEO, French director of dev, Chinese tech lead. Closed after 5 years of sucking VC out of America.
Caterpillar misses earnings a mere 4 months after outsourcing to India, Inc.
Circuit City – Outsourced all IT to Indian-run IBM and went bankrupt shortly thereafter.
ComAir crew system run by 100% Indian IT workers caused the 12/25/05 U.S. airport shutdown when they used a short int instead of a long int
Computer Associates – Former CEO Sanjay Kumar, an Indian national, sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for accounting fraud.
Deloitte – 2010 – this Indian-packed consulting company is being sued under RICO fraud charges by Marin Country, California for a failed solution.
Dell – call center (closed in India)
Delta call centers (closed in India)
Duke University – Massive scientific fraud by Indian national Dr. Anil Potti discovered in 2012.
Fannie Mae – Hired large numbers of Indians, had to be bailed out. Indian logic bomb creator found guilty and sent to prison.
Goldman Sachs – Kunil Shah, VP & Managing Director – GS had to be bailed out by US taxpayers for $550 BILLION.
GM – Was booming in 2006, signed $300 million outsourcing deal with Wipro that same year, went bankrupt 3 years later
HP – Got out of the PC hardware business in 2011 and can’t compete with Apple’s tablets. HP was taken over by Indians and Chinese in 2001. So much for ‘Asian’ talent!
HSBC ATMs (software taken over by Indians, failed in 2006)
IBM bill collecting system for Austin, TX failed in 2012 written by Indians at IBM
Intel Whitefield processor project (cancelled, Indian staff canned)
JetStar Airways computer failure brings down Christchurch airport on 9/17/11. JetStar is owned by Quantas – which is know to have outsourced to India, Inc.
Kodak: Outsourced to India in 2006, filed for bankruptcy in Jan, 2012.
Lehman (Jasjit Bhattal ruined the company. Spectramind software bought by Wipro, ruined, trashed by Indian programmers)
Medicare – Defrauded by Indian national doctor Arun Sharma & wife in the U.S.
Microsoft – Employs over 35,000 H-1Bs. Stock used to be $100. Today it’s lucky to be over $25. Not to mention that Vista thing.
MIT Media Lab Asia (canceled)
MyNines – A startup founded and run by Indian national Apar Kothari went belly up after throwing millions of America’s VC $ down the drain.
Nomura Securities – (In 2011 “struggling to compete on the world stage”). No wonder because Jasjit Bhattal formerly of failed Lehman ran it. See Lehman above.
PeopleSoft (Taken over by Indians in 2000, collapsed).
PepsiCo – Slides from #1 to #3 during Indian CEO Indra Nooyi’ watch.
Polycom – Former senior executive Sunil Bhalla charged with insider trading.
Qantas – See AirBus above
Quark (Alukah Kamar CEO, fired, lost 60% of its customers to Adobe because Indian-written QuarkExpress 6 was a failure)
Rolls Royce (Sent aircraft engine work to India in 2006, engines delayed for Boeing 787, and failed on at least 2 Quantas planes in 2010, cost Rolls $500m).
SAP – Same as Deloitte above in 2010.
Singapore airlines (IT functions taken over in 2009 by TCS, website trashed in August, 2011)
Skype (Madhu Yarlagadda fired)
State of Indiana $867 million FAILED IBM project, IBM being sued
State of Texas failed IBM project.
Sun Micro (Taken over by Indian and Chinese workers in 2001, collapsed, had to be sold off to Oracle).
UK’s NHS outsourced numerous jobs including health records to India in mid-2000 resulting in $26 billion over budget.
Union Bank of California – Cancelled Finacle project run by India’s InfoSys in 2011.
United – call center (closed in India)
Victorian Order of Nurses, Canada (Payroll system screwed up by SAP/IBM in mid-2011)
Virgin Atlantic (software written in India caused cloud IT failure)
World Bank (Indian fraudsters BANNED for 3 years because they stole data).

I could post the whole list here but I don’t want to crash any servers.

The plan, in globalization, is to bring us down to the pay levels of third world countries and then, after most of us American Rednecks are starved to death, we will accept ANYTHING… ANY JOB at ANY Wage. They did it via off-shoring and now the import of this cheap-ass, non-productive labor.

The question is, do we just sit here and take it or do we DO SOMETHING before its too far gone (as if it isn’t already)? Just look at what is being done to Greece as a primer for what is next here.

And to you ignorant rednecks that still haven’t figured this out, like the friend of my wife on Facebook who bitches about her tax money going to the worthless dregs who WON’T work, that new job you got, working for the state, is a drain on MY tax dollar, you scumbag hypocrite fool. Or maybe that stupid ex sister-in-law who bitches about the same thing, but she has never owned up to a responsibility (like raising her child) and the only job she ever had was minimum wage, how many times and how much money should I spend re-educating myself just to make the same amount of money your convenience store ass makes?

In my personal life, I have been explaining this phenomena to my family and they are beginning to understand that this is planned and that we must find some other source to provide for our needs, including gardening and livestock. I recommend that you do the same, as soon as possible, for like the video (and the source, Video rebel’s Blog) says, we don’t have but until after the 2012 elections that the final plug is pulled.

BROKEST CITY IN AMERICA – My Hometown is #1

Posted by ConspiracyDude on November 1, 2011

I’ve watched over the last 4 years, and sometimes wrote and commented about how ‘bad’ things are in my neck of the woods. Some understood what I was talking about as they’ve watched many in their own areas struggle to make ends meet during this most recent depression. However, I dont think many understood completely what I was seeing in my area.

The city I grew up in, Columbus Georgia, which I now live 15 miles to the north of has been hit hard. While the local news along with the mainstream news continues to paint a rosy picture, many know the rose is dead.

Columbus Georgia in it’s heyday was a bustling textile / mill town. It was also called a military town due to the adjacent Fort Benning Georgia. In all respects it is now only a military town. The mills shout down and moved off shore. What local business that remained through the years, many have closed their doors, unable to compete with the big box stores, or off shored the labor as well.

There are a few big name companies in Columbus Georgia. Few of them hire folk that worked in the mills due to lack of formal education, or who recently left the military and stuck around. We have AFLAC which insures more than 60 million people worldwide. We have TSYS the largest processor of merchant acquirers and bank credit card issuers. We have Synovus which is a a financial services company. Synovus laid off 850 employees and closed multiple bank branches in early 2011. We have what is left of the W. C. Bradley Co. the maker of ‘Char-Broil grill’. I say what is left because W. C. Bradley moved Char-Broil grill production from Georgia to China in 2006. The Char-Broil division is still headquartered in Columbus but the jobs are in China. Columbus is also the birth place of Coca Cola and RC Cola. My how times have changed.

To be honest with you, there isn’t much left around here other than civilian employment at the Army base, Ft. Benning. This was one of the main reasons I am so pissed off about the illegal immigration situation in this country, let alone my neck of the woods. No jobs, yet they let the illegals stay and take them. I mentioned this countless times on my old blog. If it weren’t for Ft. Benning, as much as I hate the military industrial complex [MIC], Columbus in my eyes would have been another Detroit. Detroit is number 18 on the list, which I might add, most of us have heard how bad it is/was in Detroit the past year or so. Ghost town

Over on The Daily Beast, they have just released a list of 30, what they call ‘America’s Brokest Cities’. Four of Americas brokest cities reside in Georgia and many more are throughout the southeast.

VIA The Daily Beast

To find the most struggling cities in the country, we used three data points weighted equally: the most recently available unemployment rate (August 2011), median household income, and average debt. Data is from a recent report by Experian and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average credit score for each city is included in the gallery, though not taken into account to determine the final ranking. If this data is any indication, the cities struggling the most right now—the ones that may take the longest to recover—are clustered in the South and along the Pacific Coast.

#1, Columbus, Ga.

Unemployment: 9.8%

Median household income: $36,553

Average personal debt: $27,928

Average credit score: 721

#10, Augusta, Ga.

Unemployment: 9.6%

Median household income: $44,477

Average personal debt: $26,204

Average credit score: 709

#14, Macon, Ga.

Unemployment: 10.4%

Median household income: $37,507

Average personal debt: $23,775

Average credit score: 715

#25, Savannah, Ga.

Unemployment: 9.5%

Median household income: $46,755

Average personal debt: $25,561

Average credit score: 716

Of course the 1% in Columbus dont see it that way. Of course they have no idea what the other 99% are going through. Here is what the current Mayor has to say.

Via wtvm.com [local Columbus GA news station]

Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson called the article "patently absurd" and "irresponsible".

"We know for certain that their data is wrong. The median income figure and the employment rate are not correct. Accordingly, we have no reason to believe their so-called ‘personal debt' level is current. Probably the most telling error is that even using their own incorrect data, their math is wrong. So, by the article's own alleged three-pronged criteria, Columbus is not the ‘brokest' on the list, much less America," Mayor Tomlinson explains.

"The numbers presented show there is no rational basis for the approach used. The slightest change, such as using the more accepted debt-to-income ratio instead of the personal debt amount dramatically adjusts the ranking. Including the referenced, but mysteriously excluded, ‘credit score' in the computation also dramatically adjusts the ranking. If there was any legitimate statistical point to be made here, the rankings would not fluctuate so when similar or related data is used", continued Mayor Tomlinson.

Yep, just like the rest of the 1%, 'those numbers are wrong'.

Double-Dip Recession Is Guaranteed

Posted by ConspiracyDude on October 11, 2011

We all knew this was coming. I was waiting for one of the talking heads to come out and say it. I know others have mentioned the coming double dip recession / depression, but in my eyes only in passing. In passing, because they, just like here have been sounding the alarm for years now. This however is different to me, we have a time frame to work with; "the next quarter or two" Based on this, early or late spring seems to be the due date.

A lot can happen between now and then. The biggest thing as I see it will be the coming WAR with IRAN. War will once again be used to take the sheoples minds off of their on demise. In case you missed it: The United States on Tuesday accused , "Iranian officials of plotting to murder Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, bomb the Israeli Embassy in Washington and the Saudi and Israeli Embassies in Argentina [link above to New York Times article]." Should anything explode in the near future it will be blamed on Iran, regardless of WHO actually did it, and there ya go.

So just as before, let the distractions begin. There will be many coming our way in the months leading up to the due date of the double dip recession. I expect things to really heat up in the new year 2012 in January, as millions loose their unemployment benefits. If you haven’t prepared as suggested many many times here at ‘BuelahMan’s Revolt’, time is running out. I think I’ll invest in some more silver myself before the end of the year.

ROUBINI: The Recession Is Guaranteed, The Only Question Now Is How Bad It Will Be

BREAKING: Nouriel Roubini sees bad times ahead for the economy.

The only question is: How bad?

CNBC: Double-Dip Recession a Foregone Conclusion: Roubini

“The world’s advanced economies are headed for a second recession, regardless of whether there is further chaos in Europe, noted economist Nouriel Roubini told CNBC on Tuesday.”

“Roubini — who correctly predicted the 2008 financial crisis, but has got some other bearish calls wrong — said his reading of recent data suggested the U.S., euro zone, and the U.K. are already on the verge of falling into a recession in the next quarter or two.”

“The question is not whether or if there is going to be a double dip, but whether it’s going to be mild or severe with another financial crisis,” Roubini told CNBC on the sidelines of the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul. “The answer on that depends on the euro zone.”

Regardless of what camp you’re in (double dip, weak growth, muddle through, etc.) it seems that the question of whether the eurozone will produce some kind of event shock is a huge one. Even the muddle-through, no recession folks can’t discount the possibility of something disorderly happening, causing a crisis.

And so the world waits quietly on tiny Slovakia to save it.

Was It Worth The Bony Fingers?

Posted by BuelahMan on August 22, 2011

I spent a lifetime improving myself, pursuing something a little better, reaching it, then going for more. A little better education… a little better jobs… a little better quality of life…

…only to have criminals take over our country and rip apart each and every level of “betterment” I had achieved.

I have worked my fingers to the bare bone and it hasn’t been worth it. How about you?

Bony Fingers
by Hoyt Axton

Rain coming down and the roof won’t hold her
Well I lost my job and I feel a little older
Car won’t run and our love’s grown colder
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better

The clothes need washing and the fire won’t start
Kids all crying and you’re breaking my heart
Whole damned place is falling apart but
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better

Chorus:
Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers

I’ve been broke just as long as I remember
Well I get a little money; I gotta run and spend her
When I try to save it pretty woman come and take it
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better

Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers

Grass won’t grow and the sun’s too hot
The whole darned world is going to pot
You might as well like it cause I’m all that you’ve got
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better

Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers

Rain coming down and the roof won’t hold her
Well I lost my job and I feel a little older
Car won’t run and our love’s grown colder
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better

Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers

Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers

Here’s another funny way to look at it:

Think I’ll fire one up, like in the cartoon, and enjoy the last little part before the thud.

U.S. Credit Rating Downgrade / Default

Posted by ConspiracyDude on July 27, 2011

WHile rulers and runners of America’s economy continue to use scare tactics on the American sheople fearing default, no one really gives a rats ass. Why should we ? There is nothing an average Joe can do about it; is there. Whether the U.S defaults or not, average people are still hurting and will continue hurting. Sure a default would make the pain worse for average Joes but that would also hurt Big Government, which is why it will not occur. Besides, they will raise the debt limit whether you are against it or not. This campaign for recovery and spending is like many of the other campaigns, even elections. It is to make you think you have a choice, a say in the matter, which in reality we know we don’t.

But what of a ‘credit rating downgrade’. The pain is going to get worse and it isn’t going to hurt ‘big government’. Why ? Because they will continue spending and getting loans although at a higher interest rate, passing the higher cost on to the sheople. In other words, The shit is going to hit the fan again for average Joes, and there is nothing you can do about it other than tighten your belt around your already thinning waist. Again!

Nothing is going to change for ‘big government’. They’ll still have and keep their jobs. They’ll still be getting fat off the hard work of average Americans. They’ll still be funding wars and bullshit programs that benefit only the rich. They’ll still live in the big houses and drive the fancy cars, and take those extravagant vacations to tropical destinations and snow capped mountains. All the while, the average Joe will once again be required to decide whether to pay the power bill, or splurge on some beans and rice like third would sheople.

It’s coming again folks, make no mistake about it. Jobs will be cut. Unemployment will rise. Prices will rise. Families will loose their homes. This is what a downgrade will do. If there were ever a default of payment, which if it happened once would continue down a slippery slope, we would be shit out of what little luck some of is have.

The thing here is, even if the debt ceiling is raised, they will still cut the programs that average Joes depend on. Funding for the military industrial complex, the police state, the black ops, the salaries of the assholes running the show will not be affected. Matter of fact, they’ll probably pat each other on the back, smile, and give each other a raise and a hand-job.

Mississippi Moon Wontcha Keep On Shining On Me

Posted by BuelahMan on May 13, 2011

Delta blues are named for the Mississippi Delt...

Image via Wikipedia

This old country boy loves Mississippi. Until the last 5 years, the majority of my life was spent there. Of course I know about all the stereotypes (and many times, “truths”) that are used against us MS Folk. But generally, I used this as a way to keep the very wonderful things about the place my little hidden secret. I have taken pride in being from the “50th State”, because I never really believed that it was last.

Sure, we are the poorest state… have the highest obesity rates… one of the highest number teen pregnancy rates… one of the least educated… one of the highest unemployment rates… one of the highest rates of gonorrhea… and many other negative stats which make us “winners”. But I also know that most of these people are the nicest, most inviting and loving people in this country. That is a fact that I believe and have witnessed in my world travels.

There is also beauty in the country-side, especially in NE MS (where I grew up). There is ample wildlife and open spaces, not to mention the river therapy that Dr Doug talks about.

But, we are experiencing some devastation right now that includes the recent tornado event and perhaps worse, the Mississippi River is over-flowing, endangering the lives of many thousands of people on the west side.

DublinMick (a Georgia country boy), informed me of the SF Gate article which discusses the flood event and there is one paragraph that catches my attention in a very scary way:

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour urged people to get out if they think there is even a chance their homes will flood. He said there is no reason to believe a levee on the Yazoo River would fail, but if it did, 107 feet of water would flow over small towns.

One Hundred and Seven Feet???

You need to understand that the very highest point in Mississippi is near my hometown and that is 806 feet (Woodall “Mountain”). But to the far west, in the Delta, it is far lower, especially near the river. 106 feet would totally cover virtually the entire area, likely killing many of the 465,000 or so people who live there in their squalor. To think that the Gov is saying that “IF” the citizens “think” there is a problem for flooding to move out. Well, tell me, you sanctimonious clown, where will these poverty-stricken people go?

A Natural News article explains even more detail about what is going on and that many places have already seen the high water mark record broken:

Flood waters continue to rise all along the Mississippi, including in Natchez, Miss., which today saw its portion of the river rise to 58.3 feet, breaking the all-time 1937 record of 53.04 feet. Vicksburg, Miss., Baton Rouge, La., and New Orleans, La. are all expected to see record-breaking crests late next week, some far exceeding previous record flood levels.

Tunica is under water. Massive crop failures already have occurred.

According to the above article, the “Black Water” is also tainted and I wonder what this might mean for the future of the region (not to mention America).

The HuffPo tells us that Ayn Rand (really, her name is Alisa Zinovievna Rosenbaum) lied to all of those idiotic sycophantic followers of hers:

Say it ain’t so Alisa Zinovievna Rosenbaum.

A heavy smoker who refused to believe that smoking causes cancer brings to mind those today who are equally certain there is no such thing as global warming. Unfortunately, Miss Rand was a fatal victim of lung cancer.

However, it was revealed in the recent “Oral History of Ayn Rand” by Scott McConnell (founder of the media department at the Ayn Rand Institute) that in the end Ayn was a vip-dipper as well. An interview with Evva Pryror, a social worker and consultant to Miss Rand’s law firm of Ernst, Cane, Gitlin and Winick verified that on Miss Rand’s behalf she secured Rand’s Social Security and Medicare payments which Ayn received under the name of Ann O’Connor (husband Frank O’Connor).

As Pryor said, “Doctors cost a lot more money than books earn and she could be totally wiped out” without the aid of these two government programs. Ayn took the bail out even though Ayn “despised government interference and felt that people should and could live independently… She didn’t feel that an individual should take help.”

But alas she did and said it was wrong for everyone else to do so. Apart from the strong implication that those who take the help are morally weak, it is also a philosophic point that such help dulls the will to work, to save and government assistance is said to dull the entrepreneurial spirit.

In the end, Miss Rand was a hypocrite but she could never be faulted for failing to act in her own self-interest.

Yes, she was a hypocrite. They all are. It is all theater with most knowing they are actors and quite a few just stupid assholes that aren’t smart enough to see the act. Brain dead sycophants that regurgitate her brand of bullshit. And when it came right down to the nut-cuttin’, we see that her goal was really self-preservation thru lies and deceit.

This should be an indication of where those fools that tout her bullshit daily measure up on the intelligence scale.

I am hoping (but not betting) that my southern redneck friends will understand the significance of this and the entire Kabuki Theater they act out for your benefit. To keep you calling for the heads of poor people and protecting the wealthiest of the wealthy. It makes me wonder if these very same people would call for Rand’s family to piss test or pay back that money she stole thru lies. No, just like my latest dialogue on FB with an old band mate from college, it appears that it is impossible for them to understand any of this. It is the poor “crack heads” that are the problem and laws like the latest Ky law are the solution.

Well, that is until B’Man takes them to task to show what an idiotic argument it is to begin with:

Stinky: Kentucky just passed the best law ever. To be on Foodstamps, Medicaid, or Cash Assistance for your Children or yourself, you HAVE TO pass a Drug Test. Now every other state should do the same. If you agree re-post. We have to work and take a drug test so should they

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
B’Man: Yes, so now when someone is found to have partaken in any substance (whether or not it was purchased or given) their children can starve. BRILLIANT!
When you applaud having the bankers who were given the TRILLIONS in welfare piss tested, I’ll agree.
Until then, you sound like a person who has a good job and wants others to suffer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Stinky: Been tested for drugs my self and passed so i don’t have to live off your taxes, as long as you have a prescription for what your taking it’s OK by me, got better things to do besides take a toke these days.

Job is a job at least i do have o…ne and will want one, even if it means working three in a day to stay off welfare and keep my kids fed beside trade my food stamps for some crack or weed.

I am upstanding citizen and signed my name on the dotted line to defend your freedom and my comments.

All government employees have to take drug test, why shouldn’t the one who live off the government do the same.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
B’Man: So, to understand you, Stinky, you are willing to give up your freedoms even tho you signed the line to defend my freedoms (sounds like you are looking forward to it)? When I signed the line (I served in the Navy), I meant that I would defend the constitution from enemies, foreign and domestic. These enemies are the ones taking away the very freedoms I swore to defend (and “supposedly” you did, too). Not the poor people.
Do I have to explain how extraordinarily contrary such a stance is?
Just which of those freedoms did you sign for? All of them or just the ones you don’t mind giving up?
Do you honestly believe that everyone getting assistance is a crack or weed head? Are you that cynical or ignorant? Do you keep up with the news of the day and understand that this economic depression was NEVER caused by a single poor person?
So, Stinky, let me hear you jump on the bandwagon to have every banker and corporation dependent on the welfare of the TARP and other Stimulus pissed tested, too. Hell, for that matter, let us simply delete the parts about freedoms that you don’t mind throwing away and have EVERYONE tested.
I mean, shoot, you never know who might be a crack head (even tho prescription drugs cause far more problems than any illicit drug on the market).
And let me ask you this, Stinky: do you think it is proper and the American Way for you to have to work THREE jobs to feed your family? Don’t you think that something is wrong with that picture?
Next, since you BELIEVE that all government workers get piss tested, have your congressman show you his latest test results.
(Crickets will chirp as I wait)
Wake up, Stinky.
To believe that everyone on assistance is a crack head is foolish and shows the height of ignorance (this doesn’t mean you are stupid, but are getting bogus information, likely from the TV).
I can barely count on my two hands the number of ppl on my block who receive some sort of assistance. My wife (you know her) worked for decades and paid in, but her scoliosis has made it impossible and she is on Medicare. My next door neighbor is in her 70′s or 80′s and doesn’t have use of her legs after paying in for 4 or 5 decades, but according to you SHE needs a drug test. As a matter of fact, I know many people getting assistance and I don’t know a single crack head. Go figure. But YOU think they all need to be drug tested.
Duh?
You are complaining about money, but do you realize that such a testing policy would be quite expensive to implement? So, what really is your motive?
Starving the children of the very few crack heads that are on assistance?
Are you a Christian?
If so, ask Jesus if He would balk and force piss tests to give bread and fishes.
An afront to the eyes of God?
Posted by Lynda on December 8, 2010
“Mary, give me one of your Kleenexes,” my mother told my aunt one morning long ago when we were entering Holy Cross Church. She held a bobby pin in her lips, reached up to part her hair, and fixed the Kleenex on top of her head. My Aunt Mary already had her handkerchief in place.
“Why do you have to do that?” I asked.
“Because we are going into the house of the Lord,” my mother explained, “and we have to spare him from the sight of us.”
“But why?”
“It’s because we’re women, honey,” Aunt Mary said.
It must have been a Holy Day of Obligation. That would explain why we’d gone across town to attend Holy Cross with Mary instead of going to our own church, St. Patrick’s. I can speculate that it was a day off, and after Mass they were going to a sale at Robeson’s.
The world of a small child is closely confined in church. I could barely see over the back of the pew without standing on a kneeler. There was nothing for me to do. My mother and aunt were standing and kneeling and sitting down according to no rhythm I could comprehend. I owned a ball point pen that had three points you could slide down–red, green, and blue–and sitting down backwards on the kneeler I used our pew as a desk and began to color the cross on the cover of the church bulletin.
After Mass was over and we were in the car and my mother and Mary lit up their cigarettes, I asked, “Why doesn’t God want to look at you?”
“Because he wants to keep an eye on you,” my mother said. I hated answers like that. My Uncle Bob had an infuriating response for every question: “It’s to make little boys like you ask questions.”
One might gather God has never wanted to look at women. They are an offense to his eyes. He doesn’t want to see them on the altars of his churches. He doesn’t want them fooling with his sacraments. His son never married one. For the mother of his son, he provided a virgin who had never employed her womanly organs for the purpose of procreation. We know Mary grew large with child and presumably gave birth in the usual way, although whether giving birth to the son of God was easy or difficult for her is not recorded by the Evangelists, who were all men, as were all twelve of the Apostles.
One woman Jesus seems to have been close to, apart from his mother, was Mary Magdalene. As we all know, she was a prostitute, and Jesus cleansed her of her sin. She washed and dried his feet with her hair before or after the cleansing. She accompanied Jesus on his travels, and was accorded the honor of being the first to see him after his Resurrection. As a follower she was therefore a disciple, but not one of the Twelve Apostles.
The fact is, there’s not one word in Scripture to support the notion that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. We are told that Jesus cleansed her of seven demons. One of the demons was possibly assumed to be prostitution by men who later interpreted the gospels, because her sexuality itself stirred unease in them. Patriarchal logic at work: If Magdalene was possessed by demons, one of them must have been sexual, and since she was not married she must have been a prostitute.
Yet after the other Disciples fled in fear from the foot of the cross, only Magdalene, Mary and John the Beloved loyally remained. In a disputed translation of the apocryphal Gospel of Philip, found on a Nag Hammadi scroll in 1945, we may read: And the companion of the Saviour was Mary Magdalene. Christ loved Mary more than all the disciples, and used to kiss her often on her mouth. The rest of the disciples were offended by it and expressed disapproval. They said to him, “Why do you love her more than all of us?” The Saviour answered and said to them, “Why do I not love you like her?”
The Catholic Church expresses grave reservations about the Dead Sea Scrolls and other early manuscripts, perhaps because they may not entirely corresponded to the patriarchal party line. Some tweaking of the Gospels has been going on since the beginning. For example, most of us know that John was “the most beloved disciple,” but a great many modern Biblical scholars believe that his name was substituted somewhere along the line for Magdalene’s.
I am not concerned so much with Church teachings, but with the way men’s minds work. To put it bluntly, I believe the world is patriarchal because men are bigger and stronger than women, and can beat them up. The earliest archeological evidence we have for human family development indicates patriarchies preceded written language. Indeed, if we study other primates we see that their cultures are also male-dominant, and presumably they’ve not arrived at this state after careful discussion.
Once primates got started on this track, it seems to have been fixed in our nature. I know evolutionary and biological theories have been advanced to explain it. I can think of a theological reason: Eve was required to tempt Adam so that Man would be stained with Original Sin, and then Jesus could die to redeem us. Two sexes were required. Parthenogenesis provided few opportunities for sin.
Today such reasons are less compelling. A lot of it comes down to: Men like it this way, it suits their nature, and they have the power to enforce it. There must be something abhorrent to some men in the ideas of female rights and equality. Does it threaten them? Does it diminish them?
In doing some research for my review of “Made in Deganham,” the movie about the women strikers against Ford UK, I wanted to find out when equal pay for equal work first became the law in the United States. I didn’t discover what I expected. Only two weeks ago, a Republican filibuster in the U. S. Senate prevented passage of the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would have added teeth to measures for equal pay. The Republicans presumably feel they have some support from women on this subject, especially those following religions which preach that a woman must submit to the will of her husband: Either her actual husband, or her legislatorial surrogate.
Some religions are more outspoken about female subservience than others, some less, and a few preach against it. The Catholic Church, in the midst of trying to clarify its teachings on women, dropped a spanner into the works last summer by describing the ordination of women as a “grave crime” like pedophilia. The Vatican had also described pedophilia as a “grave crime,” and many news reports quickly made an equation.The Pope might have been prudent to give as an example a grave crime like genocide that didn’t make you think of priests.
There was a moment in the 2008 Presidential debates when candidates were asked if they agreed with Creationism. Many did. Catholics are encouraged to accept the Theory of Evolution. What if you asked Catholic candidates if they agreed that ordaining women and pedophilia are comparable crimes?
You could ask questions along parallel lines of Muslims and Orthodox Jews. Their women in some branches are not even allowed to attend worship services in the same spaces as men. Members of some kinds of Islam require women to shield themselves from everybody’s eyes. To be an uncovered woman is to be an affront to a man–a possible temptation. (That reminds me of grade school, when we were warned that entertaining thoughts about a woman’s body was a possible Occasion of Sin.) One of a husband’s duties is to breed with his wife to produce sons who will follow this tradition, and daughters who will submit to it. Another duty is to prevent any other men from getting ideas into their heads.
I watched the debate last week between Christopher Hitchens and Tony Blair. Their subject was: “Be it resolved, that religion is a force for good in the world.” The most stimulating thing about the debate was that it was held at all. How often do we ever hear fundamental questions debated in a civil manner between intelligent speakers? Would there be an audience on cable for weekly debates between college teams? In America, debating was the leading intercollegiate sport before the introduction of football.
Blair and Hitchens made points one might agree with, and points one might not. At one point, Hitchens asked Blair a question that hung in the air for a second and went unanswered, because Blair must have had no answer. This was the question:
“Is it good for the world to consider women as an inferior form, as all religions do?”
Food Nazis
Posted by BuelahMan on November 19, 2010
Did you know that food pricing is skyrocketing at a clip we have never experienced before in history (expecting a 20% hike next year):
Prices of wheat, maize and many other foods traded internationally have risen by up to 40% in just a few months. Sugar, butter and cassava prices are at 30-year highs, and meat and fish are both significantly more expensive than last year.
We are also being hit with this food safety “help” by our government officials like Chuck Schumer (who, from New York, has probably never even walked on the fresh dirt of a farm, much less ever raised any of his own food) and other multi-millionaire Senators whose food arrives via the silver spoon hanging from their lips. I suppose it is just the conspiracy nut in me, but when I read that our “trusting” government is trying to “help” me, I get the willies.
Besides being called “the most dangerous bill in the history of the United States of America”, the Senate Bill S 510 would outlaw gardening and saving seeds. Per NaturalNews:
It would grant the U.S. government new authority over the public’s right to grow, trade and transport any foods. This would give Big brother the power to regulate the tomato plants in your backyard. It would grant them the power to arrest and imprison people selling cucumbers at farmer’s markets. It would criminalize the transporting of organic produce if you don’t comply with the authoritarian rules of the federal government.
“It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural products of one’s choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to natural law or, if you like, the will of God.” – Dr. Shiv Chopra, Canada Health whistleblower (http://shivchopra.com/?page_id=2)
This tyrannical law puts all food production (yes, even food produced in your own garden) under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security. Yep — the very same people running the TSA and its naked body scanner / passenger groping programs.
This law would also give the U.S. government the power to arrest any backyard food producer as a felon (a “smuggler”) for merely growing lettuce and selling it at a local farmer’s market.
It also sells out U.S. sovereignty over our own food supply by ceding to the authority of both the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Codex Alimentarius.
It would criminalize seed saving (http://foodfreedom.wordpress.com/20…), turning backyard gardeners who save heirloom seeds into common criminals. This is obviously designed to give corporations like Monsanto a monopoly over seeds.
It would create an unreasonable paperwork burden that would put small food producers out of business, resulting in more power over the food supply shifting to large multinational corporations.
All you have to do is figure out who is supporting the bill and who is against the bill. Big Business likes it and small farmers hate it. It appears to be far more than any protection and is just more of a corporate takeover. But now, it is affecting MY food sources and they seemingly are trying to force me into eating the large corporate foods, force me into buying their GMO seeds, and making myself and my family more dependent oon them and sicker due to the bogus shit they put in the food. No one will ever be able to convince me that food from any other source than my garden is better for me, especially if it comes from some gigantic factory farm.
As said in the video below, this is fascism, plain and simple:
There is no better way to control a people than by controlling their food. This SHOULD be a wakeup call for each and every southern family I know. Especially the old timers that still plant their own gardens and supplement their food source by growing their own (and perhaps share or sell at a Farmer’s Market). Can you imagine the outrage of your grandfather if he were told he couldn’t grow food in his own garden?
Look, there is already Hunger in America:
Some 15 percent of US households, 17.4 million families or about 50 million people, were too poor to buy adequate food last year, according to a new report from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). More than a third of these households, with as many as one million children, were missing meals on a regular basis, the study found.
The number of families classified as “food insecure” according to the USDA, which administers the food stamp program, has more than tripled since 2006, before the current economic slump which has brought near double-digit unemployment. Because most people are reluctant to admit they have a problem putting food on the table, particularly when they have children, “food insecurity” was calculated from survey questions about skipping meals or running out of food stamps, combined with comparisons of income and food prices.
Virtually the sole cause of food insecurity in America—the largest producer of agricultural and food products on the planet—is lack of money. The poverty rate has risen sharply over the past three years, with an estimated 50 million people living below the official poverty line, which grossly underestimates the income needed for basic necessities.
Highlighting the significant inequalities in food resource availability across US households, the USDA report noted that the typical food-secure household spent a whopping 33 percent more on food than the typical food-insecure household of the same size and household composition.
Do the numbers mean anything to you? Let’s say there is 350MILLION people in America. 50MILLION are BELOW the poverty line (I am one of them). Is 1/7 of your Greatest Nation on Earth below the poverty line any indication that something is awry or do you STILL think that the 1/7 of us are simply lazy no-goods who want the government teat? Are you still so ignorant to believe such a lie given to you by a corrupt media? Do you still think that because your job is still somewhat secure that you will never be a dreg to society, like I am? You poor, ignorant lemming. I suppose you will get what you deserve someday. Sadly, when you realize that you were simply not a victim YET and you belittled your fellow Dregs of Society, we will likely embrace you into the poor, helpless fold of lemmings we are. We will want you to join our community and be a part of restructuring and fixing this mess when it falls apart.
Yes, even you, that dude who works for the big military provider that keeps you thinking that I am the problem and IF I were to just take a job making shit that kills so many innocents. Yes, even you who has that cushy job in insurance, where you are covered, but your job is to find some way (ANY way) to limit my coverage just so your Big Money Vampiric Middle Man can suck even more profits out of the system, making us poor Dregs of Society even more sickly and DEAD (I can see many of you smile at the thought that us Cadillac Queens are going to die and get off your tax dollar safety rung). Won’t you be so much better off when us poor, socially inept, bottom feeders are all dead and gone?
I have featured Max Igan’s work here several times. His basic message is that the best way to fight the fascism/corporatism is to build local community and STOP playing by their rules. Grow your own food and establish community farmer’s markets. But, I suspect that the players such as Monsanto know this and are trying to fight it at every moment they can muster. Path To Freedom is one such online community (and there need to be many more).
There appears to be one guy, a farmer, himself, that wants to do right. John Tester has an amendment to this atrocious bill, if he can get it past Big Agriculture. From Food Safety News:
Tester, a farmer himself, told reporters yesterday that he will fight tooth and nail for the provision, believing that small-scale local producers are not presenting large-scale food risks.
“What this amendment is simply there to do–it isn’t to give anybody a loophole they can drive a truck through, it’s to give them a loophole they can walk through with a wheelbarrow full of locally grown farm-processed food,” he said.
For Tester, the measure is as much about food safety as it is about the direction of American agriculture.
“If we were to pass this bill without this amendment you’re going to see more concentration in agriculture,” he told reporters.  ”You’re going to see less choices for the consumer and bigger industrialized agriculture in the country.  I don’t think that’s positive, I don’t think it creates jobs, I don’t think its good for the economy and I don’t think it’s good for our food system.”
No, it’s not good for our economy or food system. It IS good for Big Ag and their headlock on Americans.
These are the figures for U.S. Trade per Country….
Call me crazy– but first : I don’t believe ‘all’ the figures
and secondly I just keep thinking ‘ what exactly did we trade for that couldn’t of been produced here?”
And why the hell do we trade with our enemies???? To win their hearts and minds…?  How about winning your own citizens hearts and minds so they can get back to work, make a liveable wage, stay healthy… and pay into their own systems .
Mississippi: The Military Wants Your 3 and 4 Year Olds, But HealthCare May Kill Them First
Report: Pre-K needed to increase military recruits
By MARIA BURNHAM – Associated Press Writer
JACKSON, Miss. — National security is threatened by soaring obesity rates among young people, a lack of early education and by high juvenile crime rates, a group of retired officers says in a report. About 75 percent of Mississippians aged 17 to 24 are ineligible to serve in the military mainly because of these three factors, according to the report issued by Mission: Readiness, a nationwide nonprofit group of retired military leaders. That number matches the national percentage. If that trend continues, in 20 years the military will be significantly understaffed, said retired Army Brig. Gen. Augustus Collins of Madison. “We need to support long-term strategies to help our young people maintain healthy lifestyles and keep them on the right side of the law,” Collins said at a news conference at the state Capitol. The best way to do that in Mississippi is through increased early education, in particular state funded pre-kindergarten programs for 3- and 4-year-olds, the report says.
Lazy, fat asses better shape up so you can ship out. They NEED your kids to fill the ranks and you are letting them down. They have a long-range plan to coincide with their new hundred years wars and they need their next 15 year “crop” in decent shape for the grinder.
But let me ask you something. Wonder why your kid is so fat to begin with? Think it may have anything to do with the fact that it is cheaper to feed them a fast food hamburger than to buy, cook and serve a decent meal of fresh vegetables? That chips are cheaper than carrots?
MUST WATCH: Food Inc.- Hungry For Change?
From Information Clearinghouse: In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government’s regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, herbicide-resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won’t go bad, but we also have new strains of E. coli—the harmful bacteria that causes illness for an estimated 73,000 Americans annually. We are riddled with widespread obesity, particularly among children, and an epidemic level of diabetes among adults. Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto) along with forward thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield’s Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms’ Joel Salatin, Food, Inc. reveals surprising—and often shocking truths—about what we eat, how it’s produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here. http://www.foodincmovie.com/about-the-issues.php Posted February 09, 2010
That movie tells it all about Big Farming and how corporations rule everything in the process, especially the very food (plant or animal) that you put in your mouth. If you watch that film you will come away with the same disgust for fast food as I have developed in the last few months. Especially in regards to the change in my diet the last couple of weeks to this paleolithic diet. Food tastes so different. So much better. Just the elimination of added sugars (I haven’t eaten any processed foods… only stuff we meticulously prepare here) has made a major difference (not to mention the elimination of salt, which has actually enhanced my sense of taste). I feel so much better and now look forward to eating.
I prove it to myself and you can prove it to yourself, as well. But you will PAY for it. It costs us MUCH more to eat this way than to go to a fast food restaurant at every meal. By far. That movie will explain why that is.
I want to point out a couple of things that I didn’t know until recently. 1st, We are killing ourselves with cancer by the way Big Food adulterated their products (milk and meat). Did you know that US milk is banned from all of Europe? And most don’t want our meat either?
… About 20 percent of our milk is genetically engineered. Technically this is known as rBGH, the small r stands for recombinant, BGH, is bovine growth hormone… This [milk] contains very high levels of a natural growth factor known as IGF-1… IGF-1 stands for Insulin-like Growth Factor 1. So growth factor 1 is a natural growth factor and is responsible for normal growth but when you drink rBGH milk, you have very, very high levels of this natural growth factor. When you drink it, the IGF-1 survives digestion and is readily absorbed from your small intestine, into your blood. Increased levels of IGF-1 have been shown to increase risks of breast cancer and we have about 20 publications showing this; risk of colon cancer [shown] by about 10 publications; prostate cancer by about another 10 publications. And a further concern: increased levels of IGF-1 block natural defense mechanisms against early cancers, [mechanisms] known as ‘apoptosis.’” The scientific evidence of the dangers of rBGH milk is explained in great detail in Dr. Epstein’s book What’s in Your Milk?, published in 2006. “Based on the concerns which I have just briefly summarized, in 1999, the United Nations Food and Safety Agency, which represents a hundred nations worldwide, ruled unanimously not to set safety standards for rBGH milk, and effectively this has resulted in an international ban on U.S. milk. – Dr. Joseph Mercola
h/t World Prout Assembly
Secondly, Health Insurance Companies invest BIG BUCKS in fast food companies. Yep! They know where to put all that dough they take from you. They put it right back into some of the main reasons you are getting so fat, sick, diabetic and dead.
Health insurance companies invest billions in fast food chains – Mike Adams
(NaturalNews) – Did you ever wonder how health insurance companies drum up future business? It’s easy: Just invest in companies whose products cause chronic degenerative disease, driving people towards more health care needs and therefore more health insurance. And that’s exactly what the health insurance industry is doing.
A new article published in the American Journal of Public Health reveals that U.S. and Canadian health insurance giants own nearly $2 billion worth of stock in fast food giants like McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell and others. So profits made by health insurance companies are reinvested in industries that make people sick and diseased, bringing them back to buy more health insurance down the road.
It’s a pretty clever business model for an industry that seems focused on the almighty dollar and obviously has no concern whatsoever for the actual health status of its customers. If anything, these health insurance companies hope you get sicker!
The simple fact is that our entire health “care” system is totally built around treating illnesses… NOT preventing sickness. It is all PROFIT motive. Why do other countries that have far better health stats fare so much better than the USA (which spends more per capita than any other developed country for health care)? Because they provide and insist on preventative care. They know that if you eat healthy, you don’t need all the meds and procedures. It costs less.
We are a bunch of lazy fat asses (me included) on the most part. 1/2 of young people in Mississippi are obese and this is why the military is worried. One of their poorest, most dependent portions of society is getting too fat for their slaughter mill and they want to remedy that.
Personally I am torn. Altho I don’t want those kids to die for a very long time, it may be better to get fat as hell and have a heart attack than join them and die from a bullet to the head over their Empire.
Maybe that’s just me.
But the other side of the evil coin (pharmaceutical companies) has the answer for our fat assed woes… EVEN MORE MEDICINE:
If Main Stream medicine really works, Why Are Americans So Unhealthy?
Now, to hear mainstream medicine pushers say it, the only reason Americans are so sick and diseased right now is because — get this — not enough people are taking enough medications! Yes… if they could only convince more parents to drug more babies and toddlers; or if they could get more teens on four, five or six drugs at once; or if they could convince nursing homes to pop a dozen different meds into the mouths of senior citizens then we’d all be healthier!
America, you see, suffers from a medication deficiency. That’s the line of mainstream medicine: More meds = less disease. And now, they’re trying to convince everyone that even healthy people now need meds (statin drugs) even if they show no symptoms of disease.
So now — get this — being healthy is no longer enough to avoid medications! We’re ALL supposed to be medicated, whether we’re healthy or not. Mainstream medicine, you see, isn’t satisfied to just treat sick people with its medications, radiation machines and surgical procedures: It wants to put all the healthy people on pills, too.
And what will be the result of all this? Imagine in your own mind, for a moment: What will be the result if, say, Americans start taking twice as much medication as they do right now. Will Americans be healthier? Of course not. They will be more diseased. More medicated and chemically contaminated.
The fish downstream will be even more polluted with pharmaceutical runoff and the bio sludge human waste “compost” products now being put on farms will be even more heavily saturated with medication chemicals. Will that create health for America? Of course not.
Mainstream medicine does not work. And pushing mainstream medicine onto more people will only cause more sickness, more suffering and more bankruptcies across American households. It will, however, accomplish one very important thing: The obscene financial enrichment of a few powerful corporations like Pfizer, Merck, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca.
And that, my friends, is the entire point of mainstream medicine: To mainline the profits for Big Pharma, sideline the legitimate health problems of the American people, and streamline the criminal soaking of the rich, the poor and the recently-insured in order to turn sickness into profit.
That’s mainstream medicine for you. I’m sure glad I don’t use it.
Put Down The Shit Spoon, Ron Paul
Posted by BuelahMan on November 1, 2009
wtf-pics-spoon-toilet
You are way too full of it when it comes to health care:
Ron Paul is full of shit on this particular subject. Sure, anyone can go to the ER, but what about those who cannot afford to go to their general practitioner for that ache in their side. Put it off until that ache makes them go to the ER in writhing pain, only to find out that it is colon cancer (that COULD have been taken care of had the person been insured or more wealthy). Oops, now you’re dead.
Paul, again, is allowing his “free market” ideology trump his Hippocratic oath or is really uninformed or stupid regarding the truth of why and how so many people lose their lives due to the lack of health insurance/health care. For those two are intertwined. To say that people don’t die because they cannot afford health insurance is a pitiful moral failure on Paul’s part.
His point about Corporatism versus Capitalism is valid (to an extent). But it will not be the “free market” system that fixes what is a moral quandary. And hence lies the basis of his bogus rationale. It is all about competitive “services” rendered with this immoral mindset, not about ensuring that everyone is well and healthy and doesn’t have to worry about dying or losing everything they own if they get sick). In my opinion, one must be able to balance their conservative, free marketism and a moral, social attitude to embrace and help care for the lesser of Thee. His first example, at the 2:20 mark, is skewered right off the bat (regarding the person who went to Singapore to get the $100K surgery for $25K). Where I am from, most people don’t make $25K/year, much less $100K.
He went on to say just seconds later “all the mischiefs of government”, as if the Corporatism doesn’t involve corporations, but just the government officials. Is the point to privatize and “free market”-ize everything (just like the way our security is handled in Iraq and Afghanistan)? As if this doesn’t create even MORE abuse for profit. How about admitting that health insurance companies provide ZERO added value. What the hell does protecting those that say of themselves to be “free marketeers”, whom provide no benefit or value, yet suck off a cool 25-30% off the top.
Is being anti-government the answer? Or could there be a moral imperative that creates a system where anyone and everyone is covered via taxes after cutting off the value deducting parasite called health insurance. Maybe then, we can have a system that mimics all the other industrialized “progressive” countries in the world that have longer, healthier lives at a fraction of the cost we do. OR, we can take the route that Paul wants to take which is exactly what got us where we are today (it morphed and grew into what we have now from the original “free market” foolology Paul is discussing).
You see, what Paul would prefer is that we turn back the hands of time for all medical security (like Medicare and Medicaid). Not improve what the lackeys he leads with have torn asunder. He would rather blame “government” (which he is a key part of). Funny how he starts with Corptocracy and ends up with how government is bad. Look in the mirror old man to see why. Then grab any number of your fellow thieves and sing us a song about how it will be you (members of the government) who will fix this moral imperative by making the poorest of the poor pay what cannot be afforded to begin with.
With so many good points to his credit, it is this lack of moral understanding and dedication that makes me believe he is NOT POTUS material. He could be in some cabinet level post (maybe even Sec of State), but POTUS, he is not.
This reminds me of someone close to me that told me they didn’t agree with my views on healthcare, yet he has been in the hospital countless times with no insurance or money and simply just “writes it off”. There is a disconnect that these people don’t seem to be able to reconnect.
Friends
Posted by BuelahMan on June 26, 2009
Many of you have shared your thoughts with me about my situation (here and in emails). I cannot tell you how much it means to me (especially my buddy, Lynda).
I wanted to speak about friends for a sec. I have old classmates that I say are “friends”. I have people that I see at least weekly that I call “friends”. I have Principals (those I sell for) that are “friends” and visit here, in a few cases… don’t tell Rob I said hello. I have thousands of acquaintances and even customers that I call “friends”. But, that little word is like the word “love”. It carries all sorts of shades of differences and depth of meaning.
My 30th class reunion is this Saturday. I was initially instrumental in helping get the thing rolling and even came up with a blog for the class reunion. (PS: I am the gorgeous redhead with the freaky striped shirt on front… I know all you old women love red heads)
The class president and I have the same first name (which is Raymond, for those that don’t know). (Hi, nice to meet cha)
Anyway, “the other Raymond” has been calling and writing, trying to prod me into coming because A) I couldn’t afford it and B) I am an embarrassed mess. He, as a wonderful friend, offered to pay for everything for Susan and I ($40) and has been relentless in prodding me along.
Last reunion, I was pretty darn successful in my business and everything was exciting and happy. BuelahLady was the only prego woman there and we would have won the prize for youngest child, except for the fact that BuelahBaby was in the belly at the time. As far as I know, we have the youngest child in the group.
Just in the span of 9 months, I have basically had my business fall apart. Not from inactivity or less work hell, I have been working harder than ever), but due to this entire financial debacle that is attributable to our government and the banking class that robbed us blind. I am pissed about that and it shows in my writing and comments at other blogs.
Then, yesterday, another friend called (this guy and I were extremely close in high school… and I have plenty of stories to tell about that crazy fucker some day) and he wanted to do what we did last time, he and his wife come to my house to stay and us go to the reunion together. It occured to me in his words that it had been at least 3 years since I had spoken to him. One of my very best friends and it has been 3 freaking years?
He didn’t know anything… that we had to sell our house, that Susan and I both had back surgeries and/or that we were devastated financially.
He said, “Why didn’t you call me?”
For what? Hell, I am a 47 year old white male who was fairly affluent (at least for a redneck) and better off than most people I know personally.
He said, “Do you remember several years ago, you met me at Hardee’s, gave me a $100 bill, and never said a word about it afterwards?”
I admitted that I did not remember that. It was then that he said, “Raymond, you have friends that love and care for you very much. We know what you have done to open your house to people (I housed a family of 4 from Germany for over a year because they couldn’t afford to make it on their own… I have housed family members for months on end… I have given thousands of dollars to needy folks here or there.” Etc, etc, etc
He went through a list of things he remembered me doing for others that honestly I forgot. Or, more aptly, I never register those things to be remembered. What I mean is, I never give with expectations of anything. I have only lent money a couple of times and I don’t like that. If I have it, I’ll GIVE it. At least, that is the way it was when I had it to give.
Look, I am no Saint. I can be the meanest fucking Dickhead you ever came into contact with. There is no doubt. But, true to myself, I can be the lovingest and most supporting clod ever, too. You cannot find a better friend or meaner enemy. Yeah, I am a screwed up mess, for sure.
I never think to ask for help, because I have always been the “go-to” man. I have always been the helper, not the helpee. I am the guy that fixes everything… that can think his way through ANYTHING. But when it comes to asking for help, I don’t know how to do this, to be honest.
What I told Bubba (yeah, I am friends with a “Bubba”, imagine that) was that the help I really need is getting to know more contacts that I can sell to. I don’t want handouts. I don’t want freebies or the government to take care of me and my family. I want what is honest, right and noble.
But I also have some sage friends, like my Girlfriend, Lynda (and no, not THAT kind of girlfriend) who have actually experienced some of this (even Bubba has been through the Big B… bankruptcy). My buddy Lisa has shared advice with me that is so wonderfully sound. Kelso and Diane have been warm and receptive and most importantly, supportive (even though I can give Diane hell). My sister, who doesn’t have a pot to piss in, has offered to do anything she can to help (she waits tables for $2/hr + tips). Even my Mom offered to watch BuelahGirl and would have given me the $40 for the reunion.
I cannot begin to tell you all how much I appreciate you all. It brings tears to my eyes to know that I have emotional support from “friends”. Real friends.
But we must acknowledge something in all of this: I have come to the realization that what is happening to me is intentional (not me, solely,  as a target, but we are ALL the target). I am no right-wing fool like Limbaugh and Beck and O’Liely, but I do believe that our government is doing whatever it can to bring our economy down and kill the dollar. Why they are doing it, I have yet to ascertain, but I have my suspicions of world currency and the only way they will be able to get rid of all this toxic debt is through the failure of our dollar or all out war (maybe a combination).
I thought I could out think them, but medical issues screwed me. I thought I could bob and weave through the changes in the manufacturing base and still come out on top (yet they have been able to send the manufacturing to slave labor countries.
By God, this is ME we are talking about. I ALWAYS succeed (at least that WAS my mindset).
If I am correct about the intention of this fiasco, then it is high time all us “friends” get real and shut this mutherfucker down. It can be done and I have a plan. But we must do this together.
It will take “friends’ to make this happen.
