Granny Get Your Gun! Its A New Year

grannyclampett-729655Three days ago, my 93 year old Granny (she lives alone) awoke at her normal time to go fix the coffee and breakfast. As she was pouring the water, she looked over at her TV and noticed that two envelopes with thank you notes that she had signed, sealed and was to put in the post, were torn open. She thought, “Now, I know I sealed those things…”

So, she decided to look around. She went into her laundry room, where the back door is located (the old type with multiple panes of glass 6″ x 14″). Two of the panes had been removed to offer a very small opening. She knew something was up, so she went back through the house to see if someone was there or if anything else was missing.

She found that about $100 in cash was missing from her purse and another little stash she had. She saw that several pieces of jewelry was missing, including the high school graduation ring she had bought for herself (she came up in the Depression and few people even graduated high school, so this was very sentimental to her).

She noticed that whomever this was rifled through her paperwork/filing cabinet.

She also found that a safe that she kept underneath her dresser was missing (there was nothing inside of it, however).

This means that this old lady, who can’t hear, had some asshole hovering over her as she slept and actually took stuff from the room she was sleeping in. beverlyhillbillies-grannyCan you imagine????

Sure, there are a few crooks around that make a living from theft, but generally in this area, one doesn’t have to worry too much about these things (at least under normal conditions). Not to mention the fact that most people around here have some sort of weapon for protection, so they think twice about going in on someone, if they know they are there.

It sounds like an inside job, but I’m not sure. The lady is fairly well known around here (and loved). So, it is conceivable that they knew she is deaf and thought they might get by with it. Of course, as small as the opening was for them to climb through, it could have been a 100# crack head. Who knows.

The next day she heard about Obama/Feinstein’s gun grab proposal (she voted for Obama) and pitched a fit. She has two pistols, but isn’t strong enough to pull the trigger, so she wants me to take her to buy some sort of weapon that she would be able to use.

Here’s the rub… in a conversation with Dr Doug this morning, he informed me that WalMart in MS is basically out of stock in ammo. They place two orders per year and with the ammo manufacturers filling DHS orders, they are not manufacturing the other ammo.

Now, what good is whatever weapon Granny wants, if she can’t get ammo?

The REAL Homeland Security

The REAL Homeland Security

And, as I have said here several times over the past few years, the easiest way to control guns in America is to actually control who gets the ammo. For what good is a gun with no bullet? Especially in the hands of an 80# 93 yo.

We are buying all new security doors and calling ADT (or another security firm).

Maybe this was just a run-of-the-mill break in by crack heads. But according to the local paper, thefts are skyrocketing around here, so I am not convinced this is just another dope head.

People who are hungry are not near as likely to go in with the intent to harm someone. But what happens when people are STARVING?

Here’s the deal. The government is pushing to take our guns, even from the most vulnerable… like Granny. Think about what happens if the STARVING get so desperate that they see nothing to lose by going in and knocking out (or killing) the homeowner. Do you think you will be able to count on your local police to help you.

Take this into consideration when you do: there is only about 7 of 88 counties in MS that even have finger printing equipment and/or personnel trained on granit. You think they could help you or even find the culprit later?

America: If you allow this to happen to those like me who hardly ever even touch my guns since I don’t hunt much any more, you are going to see massive death and destruction. And this has nothing to do with being concerned of the government. This is all a bad deal and you morons who think taking away the guns are in the best interest for this country are what will turn this place into the death and carnage I am talking about.

When the bad people are the only ones with guns, the rest of us are screwed.

Watch this video to see how one man dissects the issue by comparing real numbers of deaths and hard crime in America to the UK. It looks to me like the media, as usual, is filling us full of lies about the numbers, especially relating to the meme about guns being America’s problem.

The fact is that as weapons are taken away from the citizenry, these crimes go UP, not down. History shows this many times over.

Here is a very good example:

Black Water Extremes

Remember this post from last year? Well, the opposite is happening this year:

Seems like Old Man River is showing us, in his most extreme communications, that he is hurting and will pass that hurt along to the rest of the country.

Last year, he found himself at 107′ and flooding all along his route.

This year, due to the drought, he is at 13-20′ below normal, making it very difficult for commerce. Needed coal, food, and important other commodities are being lightened, so that the barges don’t drag bottom and clog up what’s left of the river.

What would happen if if dried up enough, that these things did stop?

What if the ocean started making its way up river? Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana is experiencing this and are making plans to counter the contamination of their drinking water.

Oh, Black Water, Keep On Rollin’

Tennessee’s Bought Representatives and Lame’r Alexander

Have my fellow Tennesseans paid much attention lately to your representatives and how they vote? How about your beloved Senators?

Video Rebel lists all the representatives that voted to keep you from “protesting” around them. I wanted to share the locals, for your education and possible discussion. I am also including the Mississippi chickenshits, since that is my home state and friends still endure their sorry asses. They are deathly afraid of facing any assembly of folks that might be finally getting fed up with their shenanigans and have signed the latest bill that strips you of even MORE of your rights (I’m sure most will just yawn). The Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011 is a bit more than simply providing Mexican lawn care workers to take care of the grass around Federal Buildings. It is meant for you (well, “you”, meaning those who are awake and want answers).

There are a few that didn’t bow to their Masters in Israel, but they are a minority. Notice that none of them mind spending as much as you make in a year traveling around on junkets, while most are to afraid to spend much time in their district. Remember last summer’s break, when a mass of sycophantic Zionist Jew worshipers took their allegiance trip to Israel? At least Marsha didn’t make that trip. Cohen (a Zionist Jew), however, made his (imagine that).

Tennessee

Yea TN-1 Roe, Phil [R] 3 trips taken between 2009 – 2012 costing $19,250 1 trip to Israel $15,917.

Yea TN-2 Duncan, John [R] 25 trips taken between 2000 – 2011 costing $114,365 No trips to Israel. 1 trip to Aspen Institute.

Yea TN-3 Fleischmann, Chuck [R]
1 trip to Israel taken in 2011 costing $19,763.

Yea TN-4 DesJarlais, Scott [R] 1 trip to Israel taken in 2011 costing $19,636

Yea TN-5 Cooper, Jim [D] 31 trips taken between 2003 – 2012 costing $136,553 No trips to Israel. 1 trip to Aspen Institute.

Yea TN-6 Black, Diane [R] 2 trips taken in 2011 costing $24,990 1 trip to Israel $22,314.

Yea TN-7 Blackburn, Marsha [R] 35 trips taken between 2003 – 2012 costing $68,139 No trips to Israel. 1 trip to Aspen Institute.

Yea TN-8 Fincher, Stephen [R] 2 trips taken in 2011 costing $23,233 1 trip to Israel $20,227.

Yea TN-9 Cohen, Steve [D] 10 trips taken between 2007 – 2011 costing $61,451 2 trips to Israel $19,520. This is the guy who got Jesse Ventura’s episode on Camp FEMA pulled off the air.

Mississippi

Yea MS-1 Nunnelee, Alan [R] No trips anywhere.

Yea MS-2 Thompson, Bennie [D] 57 trips taken between 2000 – 2011 costing $115,549 No trips to Israel.

Yea MS-3 Harper, Gregg [R] 4 trips taken between 2009 – 2011 costing $43,172 1 trip to Israel $17,610.

Yea MS-4 Palazzo, Steven [R] 1 trip to Israel taken in 2011 costing $23,360.

One could look at the list of people who voted for the NDAA and perhaps feel a bit better (Marsha Blackburn DID vote “aye”, showing that she is not interested in preserving our liberties), but not much.

Now to Lame Alexander. I received my monthly email newsletter from him. Apparently, he is very worried about the “checks and balances” that Obama is ruining for Congress. He wrote something about his imaginary outrage here. This is a very slimy man, who also could care less about the Constitution, much less any checks and balances. You know, Lame, if you really were worried, you might work with Congress to impeach the liar, instead of clutching your faux pearls of shame. You might not have voted FOR the patriot Act (and every extension). You might have not voted to continue the bogus Iraq War that you were complicit in getting started (or too stupid to see was a bunch of malarkey). You might have not voted against implementing the 911 Commission’s recommendations (no matter how bogus they were), but better yet, sponsor a new, REAL investigation, since many of the members and its legal council have come out and said it was bogus. You might even vote to dismantle the TSA and certainly work to stop their roadside drug searches in your own state. Maybe you would even call out Israel, but instead, you love them and their “democracy” (apparently more than your own country). Maybe you could fight for American jobs instead of voting to allow corporations to keep their tax free crap from overseas profits.

If the man truly gave more than his obligatory lie, he might not have voted lock-step “yea” on the NDAA. He might actually tell us the truth. He might actually fight for liberties, instead of stripping as many as he can muster.

Oh yeah, as  aside note to all the PaulTards, the bastion for personal liberties didn’t even bother to vote on either of the above mentioned recent bills.

Suckers.

Oh yeah, now Tennesseans have voted to put Santorum on the ballot. Speaking of suckers.

B’Man’s Hypocrite Watch: To Kill, Steal and Destroy

Satan’s Trap?

The nutjobs that run the AFA are certainly focused on Satan’s Trap, aren’t they? They put most of the focus on attacking McDonalds, Pepsi, Home Depot and other companies  for their support of gay rights (not to mention their “war on Christmas” and war on spring egg nonsense), but what do they say about what Jesus addresses that the thief’s (Satan) purpose on Earth is.

New Living Translation(©2007)
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

But look around and find me one little scribble about war, especially the immoral wars we have undertaken in America, instigated by their favorite right-winged, neocon Herr Leaders.

Their Mission

The mission of the American Family Association is to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture, and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission.

So, they focus on gay issues and never mention what America does in its emulation of the thief: which is to steal, KILL and destroy.

This is precisely why, as a Mississippian (they were founded in Tupelo, MS) I am embarrassed and consider them to be a farce whose real agenda is little more than being a mouthpiece for right-wing agendas that are meant to separate and divide the American public with some of the least important issues facing us. It is a sick joke to read their action statement IF they have no inkling of what Jesus’ stance on war and peace is. As a matter of fact, their actions betray Christ, which is why so many thinking people (including Christians) think of them as a farce and tool of the GOP.

Instead of speaking out against war, they mouthpieces (namely Bryan Fischer) speak in some of the most revolting SUPPORT of war and killing:

So the question is this: when are we going to start awarding the Medal of Honor once again for soldiers who kill people and break things so our families can sleep safely at night?…

…However, Jesus’ act of self-sacrifice would ultimately have been meaningless – yes, meaningless – if he had not inflicted a mortal wound on the enemy while giving up his own life.

Jesus inflicted a mortal wound on the enemy? Can you say “retarded”?

There were many things this monster was called in the comments section of that writing. There were many folks who called him out for what he is: a preacher with kill-lust (which is the antithesis of The Christ). So much so, that he felt he needed to write a Part II.

He then goes to the Old Testament, instead of anything Jesus would have to say, to bolster his blood-lust for killing and ends with this doozy:

War is certainly a terrible thing, and should only be waged for the highest and most just of causes. But if the cause is just, then there is great honor in achieving military success, success which should be celebrated and rewarded.

The bottom line here is that the God of the Bible clearly honors those who show valor and gallantry in waging aggressive war in a just cause against the enemies of freedom, even while inflicting massive casualties in the process. What I’m saying is that it’s time we started imitating God’s example again.

First of all, the wars we are currently using for murder and world control are anything BUT “just”. To the contrary, they are the least “just” wars America has ever undertaken and are, as I have said many times at this blog, illegal and immoral. To equate David or any of the Jewish wars and actions to America is idiotic and nothing more than an attempt to justify something which has no basis in fact. America was never attacked by Afghanistan or Iraq. Fact. We were NEVER put into any mode of self-defense, because neither of these countries could ever have harmed us in any way.

Mississippi Moon Wontcha Keep On Shining On Me

Delta blues are named for the Mississippi Delt...

Image via Wikipedia

This old country boy loves Mississippi. Until the last 5 years, the majority of my life was spent there. Of course I know about all the stereotypes (and many times, “truths”) that are used against us MS Folk. But generally, I used this as a way to keep the very wonderful things about the place my little hidden secret. I have taken pride in being from the “50th State”, because I never really believed that it was last.

Sure, we are the poorest state… have the highest obesity rates… one of the highest number teen pregnancy rates… one of the least educated… one of the highest unemployment rates… one of the highest rates of gonorrhea… and many other negative stats which make us “winners”. But I also know that most of these people are the nicest, most inviting and loving people in this country. That is a fact that I believe and have witnessed in my world travels.

There is also beauty in the country-side, especially in NE MS (where I grew up). There is ample wildlife and open spaces, not to mention the river therapy that Dr Doug talks about.

But, we are experiencing some devastation right now that includes the recent tornado event and perhaps worse, the Mississippi River is over-flowing, endangering the lives of many thousands of people on the west side.

DublinMick (a Georgia country boy), informed me of the SF Gate article which discusses the flood event and there is one paragraph that catches my attention in a very scary way:

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour urged people to get out if they think there is even a chance their homes will flood. He said there is no reason to believe a levee on the Yazoo River would fail, but if it did, 107 feet of water would flow over small towns.

One Hundred and Seven Feet???

You need to understand that the very highest point in Mississippi is near my hometown and that is 806 feet (Woodall “Mountain”). But to the far west, in the Delta, it is far lower, especially near the river. 106 feet would totally cover virtually the entire area, likely killing many of the 465,000 or so people who live there in their squalor. To think that the Gov is saying that “IF” the citizens “think” there is a problem for flooding to move out. Well, tell me, you sanctimonious clown, where will these poverty-stricken people go?

A Natural News article explains even more detail about what is going on and that many places have already seen the high water mark record broken:

Flood waters continue to rise all along the Mississippi, including in Natchez, Miss., which today saw its portion of the river rise to 58.3 feet, breaking the all-time 1937 record of 53.04 feet. Vicksburg, Miss., Baton Rouge, La., and New Orleans, La. are all expected to see record-breaking crests late next week, some far exceeding previous record flood levels.

Tunica is under water. Massive crop failures already have occurred.

According to the above article, the “Black Water” is also tainted and I wonder what this might mean for the future of the region (not to mention America).

How Was Your Florida Spring Break?

Courtesy of Redskynews

I have a few young family members that just had Spring Break. I called them personally and asked them to not go to Florida (or anywhere on the Gulf Coast). I explained to them that I believe that swimming, eating the seafood (maybe some people don’t mind their fish with lesions on it), or even frollicking in the sand could be hazardous to their health.

As far as I know, only one relative went (after telling me on the phone that she wasn’t going). I have yet to speak with her about it (and probably won’t). Young people have priorities very different than an old guy like me, I understand that. But had one of my uncles ever personally called me and asked me to not do something, I would have evaluated sources and information shared with me and made my own decision. I hope she did this.

Would she have seen the news that shrimpers keep pulling up nets full of oil (found in the Courthouse News Service link above):

At a scoping meeting last week in Biloxi, Miss., Vietnamese shrimpers said they have pulled up nets full of oil from the seafloor and have had to decide whether to report the oil to the Coast Guard, which would mean dumping their day’s catch, or pretend they don’t see the oil.

John Lliff, a supervisor with NOAA’s Damage Assessment Remediation and Restoration Program, said no one knows how much of the seafloor is covered in oil. …

Shrimpers in Biloxi also said that in places where shrimp have been plentiful, there are no shrimp now. …

If she had been investigating my claims, she may have found one such article that caught my attention where I was informed that Mississippi’s Attorney General, Jim Hood, attended various Town Hall meetings in South Mississippi to find that the biggest complaint was not the slow financial payouts by BP’s hired hand, Feinberg, (I covered him here) but more related to how many people are getting sick:

[Waveland resident Laurie] Lambert said, “I mean there’s people getting sick everywhere and nobody realized how bad it is.”

“It makes me sick to see little kids swimming out there in that water. There’s dead fish everywhere. I mean, that alone is nasty. That’s just a cause right there for health problems,” said Lambert.

While others were a bit more poignant describing their ailments:

“When they started burning the dispersants out there, my lungs caught on fire. I have emphysema and COPD,” Martin Rehbein said.

He is now beginning to see skin problems. He wants Hood to know he’s convinced it’s caused from the spill.

“These things just started coming out and this has gotten a lot worse,” said Rehbein.

I wonder if she saw any of the 136 dead bottlenose dolphins that seem to be washing up all over the coast during her visit? From MSNBC:

As of Monday night, scientists counted 136 bottlenose dolphin carcasses found since mid-January along the shores of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, almost half of them newly born or stillborn infants.

And [Blair Mase, NOAA's stranding coordinator for the Southeast] noted that “we’re still in the response phase” since carcasses are washing up daily, including at least two on Tuesday in Louisiana.

Or the new rash of sea turtles dying in droves?

“In the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen an increase” in turtle deaths in the northern Gulf, Connie Barclay, a spokeswoman for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, told msnbc.com.

Since March 15, she noted, 39 deaths were confirmed in Mississippi, 4 in Alabama and 3 in Louisiana.

I will admit that when I read at Digital Journal (via Activist Post) that the Obama Administration decided to restrict finding on these dead dolphins referenced above, it causes me to consider that we have just another lie and cover-up in the making. But what else is new with the Fascist State?

And like everything else I bitch about here, surely any thinking person will admit the huge possibility that things are far worse in this situation than officials will ever admit to. Just consider that for every dead animal that washes ashore, there is likely many more that don’t make it to be seen:

The death toll from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill goes far beyond the animal corpses washing ashore, says a report that warns that whale and dolphin deaths may be 50 times higher than believed.

The report, by an international team of marine mammal specialists, estimates that for every corpse that washes ashore another 50 may never be found.

I was discussing a different topic at my friend, DublinMick’s blog, when I noticed this comment post that caught my attention:

FLORIDA MEGASTORM: WORST YET TO COME, 3/31/11 10 a.m.

400 lightning strikes in 20 minutes, widespread flooding, power outages near Brooksville and points east. This is from the first hours of this storm, although it was turbulent overnight.

Majority of storm still out in Gulf, aimed at coast just north of Clearwater. Storm moving 45 mph. They keep extending the tornado watches. Wind 100 mph in places.

Lots of reported tornado sightings. Everything canceled, people running for cover. Weather guy on channel 8 is explaining it as just another cold front. Lots of high rises on the beach near St. Pete are in big trouble in about 15 minutes.

Dutchsinse called this two days ago on YouTube.

Report from St. Pete: “My dogs have been freaking out since Sunday night.”

National Weather Service: “Main threat straight line winds.” Hmm, that would put the multiple tornadoes second. Lightning and hail #3.

Speaking of some way to stir this mess up even more and then dump it further inland. One of the early fears about this poison dump was “what if” a big storm hit? It appears we may see what happens. My prayers and hopes for the safety of those citizens go out.

Now, I don’t think that my young niece has any immediate health effect to deal with, but from what I have read it doesn’t necessarily happen immediately. I also understand that most that have had ill effects are full time residents, by and large.

The Mandate: Savage Austerity While Inflation Skyrockets

I think it is pretty obvious what is about to occur in this country. The unconscious American public is about to embark on massive changes to their social structure and welfare. We have basically fallen into the prescribed “sides” of the issues they want us divided into and have swallowed the bait and the hook is set.

Us “lefties” and you “righties” (or vice versa, whichever side you think we belong will suffice, for in reality it all means nothing) will go to the polls next Tuesday and we will vote for the lesser of two evils (AGAIN). The Republicans have hijacked the Tea Party making it nothing more than the Corporate Republican scalawags and you people have totally dumped the ideology that made you attractive to real patriots who are trying to change the system. How you could allow it is beyond me, but you did it. You let those fools co-opt you into becoming the same old Corporately fed, Zionist fawning, Imperial backing Republican Party that Dr Paul speaks AGAINST (but sadly won’t leave, making him moot, as well).

Then we have that other side of “Socialists” (yeah, right) that back a Kenyan infiltrator (lol) who is nothing but an extension of the last asshole that held that position. You forgot all your bitches about illegal wars, about torture, about loss of liberty and have swallowed the Dem Party storyline of “at least we aren’t Bush” (even tho nothing of any substance has changed).

You people keep us in the never-ending ping-pong game of  lesser evils, all-the-while never figuring out that evil is evil. Period. I live amongst the most gullible lot of nincompoops, if this is the best you can do.

As for me, if and when I go into any voting booth, I will write in…

NONE OF THE ABOVE

…if confronted with an R or D choice.

Of course, the sycophants from the left will say, “But that is a vote for the Republicans” and the righty sycophants will say, “You are voting for a Democrat.” But that is what ignorant sycophants do. They conveniently forget how we got to where we are and that these fools they follow and idolize are simply two sides of the same tainted coin.

I haven’t forgotten:

I remember it vividly, whereas the sycophantic rightys can’t seem to muster two brain cells together to recall the 8 years previous to the latest disaster POTUS administration. For God’s sakes, you are flirting with that idiot, Newt. WTF? Have you no shame?

I am not endorsing the D’s by putting up that video. Like I said, I’ll not vote for either, ever again.

You see, I haven’t forgotten the lies the D’s told us all to get control of Congress and the POTUS-ship. I haven’t forgotten all the outrage of the wars from “the left” which mysteriously disappeared after electing your favorite PARTY CLOWNs. I haven’t forgotten how angry you were with illegal wars, but how quickly you embraced them when the Savior was elected. I haven’t forgotten your idols that bitched and moaned about our military forays in the ME, just to have them rally for the sanity of MORE war and murder.

You see, we are too far gone. There really is nothing more that someone like me can do to spread any sanity… to try to educate you as to what the hell you are getting US in to.

But I do want to make a prediction. I will predict that by your playing their games by their rules, you will give the Republicans a massive victory next week. Enough to change the majority makeup of the House. Not by much, but enough. Enough for what, you ask?

Enough for them to claim they have a mandate from the people of America.

This mandate will entail savage austerity, according to Zerohedge:

And, it is coming soon to America.

In the US, the intensity of the Austerity-For-Workers program will depend partially on the size of Republican gains in the November 2 mid-term elections. More seats going Republican—particularly the loss of the House—means more momentum for attacking working families’ social safety net.

What does this mean to poor rednecks, like myself? It means that IF you think you will get any Unemployment benefit extensions, forget it. Those 99%ers you have read about are about to become 24%ers or a bit more. How about that pension you acquired via hard work? How would you feel if the Gubment took it and reallocated it in Gubment (worthless) Bonds and “promised” you that you will get your money, but on their timeline? What if this austerity includes remaking the Social Security System, radically cutting benefits that are already far underfunded for normal life in America? What if that Medicare that you count on to keep you alive is stripped down to nothing? What if this austerity causes even more job losses in America and that we will NEVER recover the ones already lost?

We are about to embark upon the hardest times of your life (unless you are the mega-wealthy). Our elected officials are about to strip us of social programs that we count on and we will be left to fend for ourselves or die.

Charlie McGrath has one of the best run-downs of what is about to happen that I have seen. Well worth the watch, if you haven’t seen it yet:

Simultaneously, we are about to see inflation jump like never before. It is already happening, as I write this, but the real storm is a month or so away. As one example, College Tuition is going up again. But everything else will, as well. Especially food.

From CNBC:

Food Prices Expected To Rise Sharply

Corn is up 45 percent the last three months. We haven’t seen cotton prices this high since after the Civil War. Soybeans are up. Oil is up. Metals are up. So are coffee and cocoa. In this era of massive liquidity, everything is up, except for food prices—specifically processed food (made from many of the same commodities and other ingredients whose prices have risen).

According to the USDA, that is going to change. In its most recent CPI report for food, the USDA reported that prices are expected to rise in 2011.

For all food, prices are expected to rise two to three percent, which is double the levels of 2010. Meat prices are expected to rise up to 3.5 percent, and dairy 5.5 percent.

And it is a global phenomena (h/t Guardian UK):

Global food crisis forecast as prices reach record highs

Another warning is that crime is on the rise in America and will continue to do so as people get hungry. The Economic Collapse Blog has a list of 12 Statistics That Make You Wonder What Is Happening In America

#1 The murder rate in New York City has increased more than 15 percent in 2010, and the number of rapes has shot up from 943 in 2009 to 1075 so far this year.

#2 In the city of Detroit, crime has gotten so bad and the citizens are so frustrated by the lack of police assistance that they have resorted to forming their own organizations to fight back.  One group, known as “Detroit 300″, was formed after a 90-year-old woman on Detroit’s northwest side was brutally raped in August.

#3 Crime in Miami Beach was up almost 11 percent during the first half of 2010.

#4 The murder rate in Tempe, Arizona is now the highest it has been in 10 years.

#5 Shoplifting is completely and totally out of control.  According to the National Association of Shoplifting Prevention, every single day Americans steal more than $35 million worth of goods from retail stores.

#6 Today, there are approximately 400,00 registered sex offenders in the United States.

#7 U.S. authorities claim that there are now over 1 million members of criminal gangs operating inside the United States. According to federal statistics, these 1 million gang members are responsible for up to 80% of the violent crimes committed in the U.S. each year.

#8 The median age of the victims of imprisoned sex offenders in the United States is 13 years old.

#9 The crime rate in the San Diego school system is escalating out of control. The following is what San Diego School Police Chief Don Braun recently told the press about the current situation….

“Violent crime in schools has risen 31 percent. Property crime has risen 12 percent. Weapons violations (have gone up) almost 8 percent.”

#1053 percent of all investigated burglaries in the states of California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens.

#11 Law enforcement officials estimate that about 600,000 Americans and 65,000 Canadians are trading dirty child pictures online.  They also say that the total profit from creating and trading these images is approximately two to three billion dollars every year.

#12 Each year, one out of every five people in the U.S. is victimized by crime.  No other nation on the planet has a rate that is higher.

I also read from my home town weekly paper that a very small town in my home county has a Chief of police who is apologizing to residents over the weekly road blocks that they set up in town every Sunday (now becoming renowned for it). As I read thru the list of “arrests” it couldn’t be more clear what they are going after… weed smokers. The vast majority of the arrests were drug related and the biggest proportion, by far, was for marijuana. The fine for less than 1 ounce (1st offense in MS) is about $1,000. After everything is said, done and paid for, it might cost a person $1800 to handle it in court. Fine and dandy, except for the fact that it costs the country $2800 per case.

Not only are these people arresting young folks (ruining their lives) over a weed, they are losing money EVERY time they do it. And the tax payer yawns and scratches his hinder parts and turns on American Idol while sipping his illegal beer in that dry county.

Of course, nothing new on all the break ins and thefts. But never mind that. We stopped those hippies from smoking a little weed.

WTF?

Look. I know I am experiencing my own hardships (no job, no prospect for a job), but I can’t bury my head. No matter how hard it gets, I believe I will be able to take care of my family utilizing my network I have been setting up for a couple of years (you know who you are). I am not totally prepared, but I have most of what we need to survive. So, I am not just some crazy person freaked out over my own circumstances. This shit is real, people. It is happening right before our eyes and we better be ready for it when it comes… for IT IS COMING.

Let me share with you this list of 30 Reasons Why People Should Be Getting Really Nervous About The State of The U.S. Economy (again from the Economic Collapse blog):

#1 Corporate insiders are selling off stock at a blinding pace and are looking for the exits.  Alan Newman, the editor of the Crosscurrents newsletter, examined a number of the top performing stocks in the market including Google, Apple and Target and found that the ratio of corporate insider stock sold to corporate insider stock purchased over the last six months for those companies was 3,177 to 1.  At the group of firms that Newman looked at, corporate insiders had purchased 38,000 shares of stock over the last six months and yet had sold off over 120 million shares.

#2 Analysts at both Bank of America and Goldman Sachs both believe that the U.S. Federal Reserve is going to initiate a new round of quantitative easing in November.  It does not take a genius to figure out that this is very likely to push up inflation and have very serious consequences for the U.S. dollar.

#3 Economists at Goldman Sachs are projecting that the Fed will have to purchase at least $4 trillion in assets during this next round of quantitative easing to get the U.S. economy moving in a positive direction once again.

#4 In the United States today, there are 5,057 janitors with Ph.D.’s, other doctorates, or professional degrees.

#5 Investors have very little faith in the U.S. dollar (and in paper currencies in general) at this point.  Precious metals are soaring to obscene heights.  The price of gold has increased more than 20 percent in 2010.  The price of silver has skyrocketed about 40 percent this year.  These are not signs that indicate that the U.S. financial system is stable.

#6 Robin Griffiths, a technical strategist at Cazenove Capital, told CNBC on Monday that the U.S. dollar is in danger of becoming “toxic waste”.

#7 In the United States today, 317,000 waiters and waitresses have college degrees.

#8 U.S. lending institutions repossessed an all-time record total of 102,134 homes in the month of September.  That was the first time that home repossessions in the U.S. had ever exceeded the 100,000 mark during a single month.

#9 According to a Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller home price report that was released on Tuesday, single family home prices in the United States declined  for a second straight month in August.

#10 In the United States today, over 18,000 parking lot attendants have college degrees.

#11 During the months of August and September, the state of Nevada had an unemployment rate of 14.4 percent, which was the highest in the history of the state.  Not that the rest of the country is doing any better.  The state of California has become a complete and total economic disaster zone, and the city of Detroit, Michigan is literally dying.

#12 The “official” unemployment rate in the United States has been at nine and a half percent or above for 14 consecutive months.

#13 The number of people unemployed in the state of California is approximately equivalent to the populations of Nevada, New Hampshire and Vermont combined.

#14 According to the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, there are approximately 3 million more vacant housing units than usual in the United States.

#15 China has reduced the export quota on rare earth elements for the second half of 2010 by 72%, thus strengthening their position in the world economy even more.  Rare earth elements are absolutely crucial to the manufacture of a vast array of high technology products, and now even more of them will have to be made in China.

#16 In 1985, the U.S. trade deficit with China was 6 million dollarsfor the entire year.  In the month of August alone, the U.S. trade deficit with China was over 28 billion dollars.

#17 Wheat, corn and other staples are absolutely soaring in price on world markets.  These higher food prices are going to hit U.S. consumers hard.

#18 In 2007, 3 U.S. banks failed.  In 2008, 25 U.S. banks failed.  In 2009, 140 U.S. banks failed.  Last Friday, it was announced that 139 U.S. banks have failed so far this year and it is not even the end of October yet.

#19 Total student loan debt in the United States is climbing at a rate of approximately $2,853.88 per second.

#20 Back in 1980, the United States imported approximately 37 percent of  the oil that we use.  Now we import nearly 60 percent of the oil that we use.

#21 According to an analysis by the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, the health care reform legislation that Congress didn’t read but passed into law anyway will generate $409.2 billion in additional taxes on the American people by the year 2019.

#22 Median household income in the U.S. declined from $51,726 in 2008 to $50,221 in 2009.  That was the second yearly decline in a row.

#23 One out of every six Americans is now enrolled in a government anti-poverty program, and yet the number of Americans signing up for food stamps and other social programs just continues to set new all-time records month after month after month.

#24 The number of Americans working part-time jobs “for economic reasons” is now the highest it has been in at least five decades.

#25 American 15-year-olds do not even rank in the top half of all advanced nations when it comes to math or science literacy.

#26 According to a recent poll conducted by CNBC, 92 percent of Americans believe that the performance of the U.S. economy is either “fair” or “poor”.

#27 After analyzing Congressional Budget Office data, Boston University economics professor Laurence J. Kotlikoff came to the conclusion that the U.S. government is now facing a “fiscal gap” of $202 trillion dollars.

#28 A trillion $10 bills, if they were taped end to end, would wrap around the earth more than 380 times.  That amount of money would still not be enough to pay off the U.S. national debt.

#29 According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the U.S. national debt is rapidly closing in on 14 trillion dollars and and will climb to an estimated $19.6 trillion by 2015.

#30 At our current pace, the Congressional Budget Office is projecting that U.S. government public debt will hit 716 percent of GDP by the year 2080.

“I’m Having a Katrina Flashback” – “Sometimes Life Is Not Fair”

Poor old Gene Taylor (Mississippi Representative) is beside himself after a recent air flight over the affected areas in Mississippi. Apparently, he didn’t get Haley Barbour’s message that oil is not to be found and that all you lemmings need to come down and play on our beaches (shit, the nasty stuff is ONLY coming in by the Ton. Or maybe you heard about that fat slob telling us how the $20B escrow account will hurt, not help, the situation (even tho it will take TRILLIONS to fix this)? Crazy? Zionist Kenneth Feinburg tells us that there is not enough money in the world” to pay all the claims.

I always say, never allow the facts to get in the way of the rhetoric.

Gov. Haley Barbour says he’s pressing BP and federal officials to increase resources in Mississippi, where oil has reached the shoreline and continues to flow into the waters around barrier islands.

“While command and control of on-water resources has improved, it must get much better and the amount of resources to attack the oil offshore must be greatly increased,” Barbour said in an e-mailed statement.

h/t CBSNews

Back to Gene and his incredulousness:

U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor got off the flight angry.

“It’s criminal what’s going on out there,” Taylor said minutes later. “This doesn’t have to happen.”

A scientist onboard, Mike Carron with the Northern Gulf Institute, said with this scenario, there will be oil on the beaches of the mainland.

“There’s oil in the Sound and there was no skimming,” Carron said. “No coordinated effort.”

Taylor said it was a good thing he didn’t have a mic in the helicopter, because he might have said some things he didn’t want his children to hear.

“They’re paying all these boats to run around like headless chickens,” Taylor said, as reporters gathered to hear his assessment of the Sound.

So, I come back to my old adage: Is this ineptness or intentional?

Do I have to keep asking the question, “how is it possible that we are so inept? How is it that anything and everything we do seems to be ass backwards? As “if” they want this thing to happen? I wouldn’t be the first to think it is possible. Kenny’s Sideshow linked to a post about the potential Asphalt Volcano that was PURPOSEFULLY drilled to cause precisely what is happening. According to this link, they know that the oil will degrade and disperse on its own, so they are not concerned about cleanup. However, the rationale is evil: they want all the southern, lazy-assed rednecks,  filthy coon-asses and low-life blacks DEAD.

There is also much scuttlebutt that suggests that the US government knew and was instrumental in this (which aligns to my previous posts questioning purpose or ineptness)

Thank goodness we still have our government to look after us, right?

Is Gulf safe for swimming?

Of course it is. This is why over 400 people who visited Escambia County Beaches are needing medical assistance “for upper or lower respiratory problems, headaches, nausea, and eye irritation“. This is why they are setting up “Decontamination Stations” all over the beaches. This is why:

Swimmers who did venture into the water questioned whether it was really safe to wade, swim and play in the Gulf, especially when they had to walk through a line of tar balls and stay clear of skimmers scooping up oil just 25 and 50 feet from the shore.

“I only went into the water up to my ankles. That’s as far as I wanted to go,” said Joe Chambers, 28, of West Pensacola as he scrubbed off oily residue from himself and his son, Ethan, 4, in the public showers at Casino Beach. “It doesn’t smell like the beach. It smells like a gas station. There are no fish in the water. There’s nothing alive in the water. I don’t know how public officials can just look at the water and make a call to reopen it for swimming.”

Carol Doster of Grand Isle, Miss., said her son Dallas, 12, was frightened by the oil that streaked his legs and arms after a five-minute swim in the Gulf on Friday. “It won’t rub off,” Doster said. …

Lanza said the health department did not test the water or sand samples before lifting the health advisory. He did send out health department employees to look at the water before they covered up the health advisory signs.

Are you still thinking you need some beach time? Watch this:

Enjoy your swim in Goldman Sach’s Corexit bath. I mean, hell, can’t let that “product” go to waste (especially if it can be used to cull a good chunk of the population and keep them from losing BILLIONS cause of its being outlawed almost everywhere else).

At least we got Biden that cares

“Sometimes life’s not fair,” said Vice President Joe Biden, as he addressed a small crowd in New Orleans, Louisiana yesterday. “Y’all have been hit with Katrina, Gustav and now the BP oil spill. You’ve been through more than any community has a right to be asked to go through. You’ve been on boats, some of you, since you were kids.”

I have warned people not to go (and some went anyway, and defriended me from Facebook to avoid hearing from me about it). Within 3 or 4 days, those people are back and told me that I was right. That there is something being hidden and that many people are going to be sick (and that evacuations are probable). All of this shit I told them before they left. Duh. Take a damned chance on getting cancer by going to that place, ignorant, but caring ones.

Martial Law is close (there are already more military down there than anyone has ever seen before). Roadblocks are going up (unsubstantiated as of7/14/10 4:00PM… Ed) Papers are needed to get close to report on the action. Many people from S Louisiana are leaving (moving trucks are all rented with none available at this time).

This shit is so much worse than we are being told (and the stuff we are hearing is pretty bad).

Carl Safina explains how bad it is in the TED video:

All posts are opinions meant to foster comment, reporting, teaching & study under the “fair use doctrine” in Sec. 107 of U.S. Code Title 17. No statement of fact is made or should be implied. What Is The Motive For Killing The Gulf?

This isn’t “just happening”. This has the smell of purpose. But what could possibly be the motive?

BP had no contingency plans for emergency. On the contrary: they knew where it would go, that ecology would never recover.

According to Karen Dalton Beninato’s blog post at neworleans.com, there are three main conclusions that point to the fact that BP knew how bad this was:

1) In the worst case discharge scenario (on chart below), an oil leak was expected to come ashore with highest probability in Plaquemines Parish within 30 days

2) Spokespersons were advised never to assure the public that an ecosystem would be back to normal after the worst case scenario, which we are now living through.

3) Corexit oil dispersant toxicity has not been tested on ecosystems, according to the Oil Spill Response Plan. “Ecotoxilogical effects: No toxicity studies have been conducted on this product.”

But, “why”? Why let it keep spreading to new regions of the gulf? Or worse (as Dr Doug and I were discussing today) what happens when some tropical storm or hurricane picks this stuff up and dumps it on us? Into our water table? Killing our plants and livestock? Is it possible?

… the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially began on June 1. This season is predicted to be especially active with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) expecting up to 23 tropical storms, up to 14 of which may become hurricanes. Strong storms could sweep the toxic mixture of oil and chemical dispersants from the Gulf far inland, contaminating rivers, wildlife and even residential areas that might have escaped exposure under other circumstances.

The experts are already frightened that this is the end of the fishing industry:

Because of the increasing threat posed to the environment by spreading oil, NOAA was forced to expand the area covered by their fishing ban for three consecutive days beginning May 31. As it stands, 37 percent of the Gulf of Mexico, or 88,522 square miles, is now closed to fishing. Large areas off the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are shut down. Federal waters near the Florida panhandle have also been closed.

“Fishing communities are suffering a worst case scenario of total collapse,” Carl Safina, an ecologist with Blue Ocean Institute, told the World Socialist Web Site. “I don’t see how this could be temporary. The basis of their livelihood is being destroyed.”

There has been one series of bad solutions. In the last case, they had to increase the flow by 20% to try the Top Hat. Ed shows us well that is working out for us. They just can’t seem to stop it. The scary thing?

Oil Might Keep Leaking for Months After Relief Wells are Drilled

Many technical experts have said that the first attempts to complete the relief well in August could miss entirely on the first try, as it is difficult to intersect the blown-out well at the precise location and angle needed.

(h/t Washington’s Blog)

Is it a done deal or not? Dr Doug has a friend who said this should have been stopped long ago (I have had oil folk tell me the same thing).

Am I just a suspicious bastard or is it a fact that everything seems so purposeful? It seems to me that people knew something was about to happen. Jay at ThoughtSwirl explains that there is Evidence Supporting Foreknowledge Of BP Oil Spill “Accident”

  • Goldman Sachs sold $250 million worth of BP stock in the first quarter of this year.
  • BP chief Tony Hayward sold £1.4 (about $1.68 million) worth of BP shares weeks before the oil spill.
  • And Haliburton bought a company that specializes in dealing with WELL FIRES and BLOWOUTS in APRIL
  • Since the spill the BP stock is taking a beating (pretty convenient for ole Tony, Haliburton AND GS). As a matter of fact, there are a “A Series Of Lucky Coincidences Involving Goldman Sachs And BP plc

Earlier, when observing the US AG disclosure of a civil and criminal investigation into BP plc, we noted in passing that BP’s former Chairman, Peter Sutherland, who left the firm is a Chairman of Goldman Sachs International. Mr. Sutherland holds some other interesting titles, including a position on the Trilateral Commission, he was a chairman of the London School of Economics in 2008, he is a UN special representative for migration and development; he was the founding director-general of the World Trade Organisation, he had previously served as director general of GATT since July 1993 and was instrumental in concluding the Uruguay GATT Round Negotiations. Needless to say, we focused on the Goldman relationship. When digging deeper, we uncovered some amusing correlations, most notably between the BP plc sellside ratings by Goldman BP analyst Michelle della Vigna and the Goldman Sachs Asset Management holdings of BP plc.

I can say this… this is raw Capitalism in action. No regulation, winks and nods towards environmental safety concerns, and no matter what,  PAY THOSE DIVIDENDS while you got ‘em.

Can you imagine the share owners as they laugh, knowing that at their Texas City facility, they just released 500,000 pounds of emissions, including more than 400 pounds of benzene for 40 consecutive days?

That’s a hoot to celebrate over with a bath full of cash, huh?

    (h/t Infowars)

Oh, and did you know that Haley Barbour (Governor of Mississippi) is a tool?

So the tool needs to be asked, why would “Defense Secretary Robert Gates grant YOUR request to send troops of up to 6,000 by Louisiana, 3,000 by Alabama, 2,500 by Florida and 6,000 by Mississippi?

Funny thing. I see those numbers (6,000; which is EQUAL to Louisiana’s request) and I think that Jowls must be lying out his ass.

Elevated Levels of Benzene, Hydrogen Sulfide, Methylene Chloride in Gulf Air

And so the cancer sicknesses can begin to take their toll on humans (from Facing South):

Today the Louisiana Environmental Action Network released its analysis of air monitoring test results by the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA’s air testing data comes from Venice, a coastal community 75 miles south of New Orleans in Louisiana’s Plaquemines Parish.

The findings show that levels of airborne chemicals have far exceeded state standards and what’s considered safe for human exposure.

For instance, hydrogen sulfide has been detected at concentrations more than 100 times greater than the level known to cause physical reactions in people. Among the health effects of hydrogen sulfide exposure are eye and respiratory irritation as well as nausea, dizziness, confusion and headache.

The concentration threshold for people to experience physical symptoms from hydrogen sulfide is about 5 to 10 parts per billion. But as recently as last Thursday, the EPA measured levels at 1,000 ppb. The highest levels of airborne hydrogen sulfide measured so far were on May 3, at 1,192 ppb.

Testing data also shows levels of volatile organic chemicals that far exceed Louisiana’s own ambient air standards. VOCs cause acute physical health symptoms including eye, skin and respiratory irritation as well as headaches, dizziness, weakness, nausea and confusion.

Louisiana’s ambient air standard for the VOC benzene, for example, is 3.76 ppb, while its standard for methylene chloride is 61.25 ppb. Long-term exposure to airborne benzene has been linked to cancer, while the EPA considers methylene chloride a probable carcinogen.

Air testing results show VOC concentrations far above these state standards. On May 6, for example, the EPA measured VOCs at levels of 483 ppb. The highest levels detected to date were on April 30, at 3,084 ppb, following by May 2, at 3,416 ppb.

Have you still got that idiotic idea of a Florida vacation in mind? We put that out of our mind before this, but now, even if someone GAVE me the money and everything was free, I wouldn’t drive to spend a minute there.

Our world in the SE USA (and likely beyond) is doomed yet the response is almost exactly the same as we are getting with the banking fiasco ripoff. Just more obfuscation, finger pointing and little else of substance to change the reality (or even acknowledge it fully). Washington’s Blog makes the connection:

As ABC News notes, the White House allowed BP to suppress video of the oil spill for 3 weeks; and a top oil spill expert says that BP’s use of booms around the spill site now won’t really do anything … and is just an exercise in public relations so that it looks like it’s doing something.

BP is also using dispersants to hide the extent of the oil spill. Specifically, as many commentators note, the dispersants cause much of the oil to sink, so that it appears that the spill isn’t that big. But the dispersants are not only highly toxic, but will also probably make the damage from the oil itself even worse.

Moreover, just as the cover-up about the severity of the financial crisis has allowed Larry Summers, Tim Geithner, Ben Bernanke and most of Congress to kill real financial reform, BP and the government’s drastic underplaying of the size of the spill has allowed BP to skate by without taking emergency actions, such as bringing in booms on an emergency basis, or to undertake more pro-active and creative responses.

And just as nothing has changed going forward with regard to the economy since the 2008 meltdown, nothing has changed with regard to offshore drilling.

For example, since the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling rig exploded on April 20th, the Obama administration has granted oil and gas companies at least 27 exemptions from doing in-depth environmental studies of oil exploration and production in the Gulf of Mexico. And a whistleblower who survived the Gulf oil explosion claims in a lawsuit filed today that BP’s operations at another oil platform risk another catastrophic accident that could “dwarf” the Gulf oil spill, partly because BP never even reviewed critical engineering designs for the operation.

Indeed, the industry and government spokespeople have used the exact same word as each crisis – financial and environmental – unfolded. They said the problem was “contained”.

In both cases, we the people are left holding the bag because the giant companies and their campaign-contribution-buddies in DC are trying to sweep the severity of the problem under the rug, to manage the crisis as p.r. campaigns to protect those who let it happen … instead of actually taking steps necessary to solve the problems, and to make sure they won’t happen again.

I wonder if this seems futile to you (especially considering that MOST of the oil is purposefully being dispersed under water).

BTW: As I previously noted, the Gulf Currents have already grabbed the oil and is spreading it to the rest of the Sunshine State. Ed at Not Another Conspiracy tells us that tarballs have reached The Florida Keys.

    Goodbye reef.

Now answer this. Will someone get pissed when it hits the eastern seaboard or should we wait until it hits Europe?

    Just wondering….

    The Coming Gulf Crud

I pointed out early on how horrific this Gulf oil vomiting is. How it could turn the Gulf (and possibly every ocean black). How it could kill all living beings in her waters and if the reservoir is as big as they claim, might kill off every living being in ALL oceans (thereby killing every other terrestrial being, as well). What I am saying is that if this isn’t stopped, it could be the very end of the planet. I don’t think this is overboard, in any degree.

As I have said already a few times, this is far worse than what they have been telling us and even MSM is beginning to pick up this story. NPR had a fascinating story the other day and Common Dreams picked up on it.

Steven Wereley, an associate professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University, analyzed videotape of the seafloor gusher using a technique called particle image velocimetry.

A computer program simply tracks particles and calculates how fast they are moving. Wereley put the BP video of the gusher into his computer. He made a few simple calculations and came up with an astonishing value for the rate of the oil spill: 70,000 barrels a day — much higher than the official estimate of 5,000 barrels a day.

The method is accurate to a degree of plus or minus 20 percent.

Given that uncertainty, the amount of material spewing from the pipe could range from 56,000 barrels to 84,000 barrels a day. It is important to note that it’s not all oil. The short video BP released starts out with a shot of methane, but at the end it seems to be mostly oil.

“There’s potentially some fluctuation back and forth between methane and oil,” Wereley said.

But assuming that the lion’s share of the material coming out of the pipe is oil, Wereley’s calculations show that the official estimates are too low.

“We’re talking more than a factor-of-10 difference between what I calculate and the number that’s being thrown around,” he said.

At least two other calculations support him.

Timothy Crone, an associate research scientist at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, used another well-accepted method to calculate fluid flows. Crone arrived at a similar figure, but he said he’d like better video from BP before drawing a firm conclusion.

Eugene Chiang, a professor of astrophysics at the University of California, Berkeley, also got a similar answer, using just pencil and paper.

Without even having a sense of scale from the BP video, he correctly deduced that the diameter of the pipe was about 20 inches. And though his calculation is less precise than Wereley’s, it is in the same ballpark.

“I would peg it at around 20,000 to 100,000 barrels per day,” he said.

Chiang called the current estimate of 5,000 barrels a day “almost certainly incorrect.”

Chiang is being pretty nice about that. For, as always, the lying liars are bald-facely NOT telling us the truth. Of course their official estimate is untrue. To explain that they have ruined our planet irreversibly, would never do. BP disagrees with the figures, altho they were the fastest to suggest that no one could accurately estimate the flow of oil, even tho there is technology readily available to do such an estimate.

No matter what the lying assholes say, tho, what is happening in the Gulf is far worse than the Exxon Valdez spill (which was about 250,000 gallons of oil). This hole is shitting that every day. Magnitudes worse in volume.

Guess what? Even the MSM is hinting that we were lied to about this:

This new, much larger number suggests that capturing — and cleaning up — this oil may be a much bigger challenge than anyone has let on.

And you want to know what else? It could do this for years or even decades before emptying its gut:

Matthew Simmons, retired chair of the energy-industry investment bank Simmons & Company, said that BP and the US military’s engineers are more or less clueless about cutting off the flow.

“We don’t have any idea how to stop this,” Simmons said. The former banker mocked a proposal to try and plug the leak with trash, saying it was a “joke.”

Simmons noted that the pressure at 5,000 feet undersea — where the well site is located — is so high, that containment efforts are likely often to fail. At 5,000 feet underwater, blocking elements have to be able to hold even with pressures off 40,000 pounds per square inch.

Incoming American Association of Petroleum Geologists chief David Resink says the oil reservoir that is feeding the spill is colossal.

“You’re talking about a reservoir that could have tens of millions of barrels in it,” Resink said. At the current spill rate, it “would take years to deplete,” he added.

There is history with spills and as in the case of the Valdez, there was a cost associated with harm to humans. There is nasty stuff in that putrid slime (an estimated 50,000 gallons of benzene were released from the Alaska disaster. To those in clean up, it cost the their health (and lives):

Mississippi: The Military Wants Your 3 and 4 Year Olds, But HealthCare May Kill Them First

Report: Pre-K needed to increase military recruits

By MARIA BURNHAM – Associated Press Writer

JACKSON, Miss. — National security is threatened by soaring obesity rates among young people, a lack of early education and by high juvenile crime rates, a group of retired officers says in a report. About 75 percent of Mississippians aged 17 to 24 are ineligible to serve in the military mainly because of these three factors, according to the report issued by Mission: Readiness, a nationwide nonprofit group of retired military leaders. That number matches the national percentage. If that trend continues, in 20 years the military will be significantly understaffed, said retired Army Brig. Gen. Augustus Collins of Madison. “We need to support long-term strategies to help our young people maintain healthy lifestyles and keep them on the right side of the law,” Collins said at a news conference at the state Capitol. The best way to do that in Mississippi is through increased early education, in particular state funded pre-kindergarten programs for 3- and 4-year-olds, the report says.

Lazy, fat asses better shape up so you can ship out. They NEED your kids to fill the ranks and you are letting them down. They have a long-range plan to coincide with their new hundred years wars and they need their next 15 year “crop” in decent shape for the grinder.

But let me ask you something. Wonder why your kid is so fat to begin with? Think it may have anything to do with the fact that it is cheaper to feed them a fast food hamburger than to buy, cook and serve a decent meal of fresh vegetables? That chips are cheaper than carrots?

MUST WATCH: Food Inc.- Hungry For Change?

From Information Clearinghouse: In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government’s regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, herbicide-resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won’t go bad, but we also have new strains of E. coli—the harmful bacteria that causes illness for an estimated 73,000 Americans annually. We are riddled with widespread obesity, particularly among children, and an epidemic level of diabetes among adults. Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto) along with forward thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield’s Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms’ Joel Salatin, Food, Inc. reveals surprising—and often shocking truths—about what we eat, how it’s produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here. http://www.foodincmovie.com/about-the-issues.php Posted February 09, 2010

That movie tells it all about Big Farming and how corporations rule everything in the process, especially the very food (plant or animal) that you put in your mouth. If you watch that film you will come away with the same disgust for fast food as I have developed in the last few months. Especially in regards to the change in my diet the last couple of weeks to this paleolithic diet. Food tastes so different. So much better. Just the elimination of added sugars (I haven’t eaten any processed foods… only stuff we meticulously prepare here) has made a major difference (not to mention the elimination of salt, which has actually enhanced my sense of taste). I feel so much better and now look forward to eating.

I prove it to myself and you can prove it to yourself, as well. But you will PAY for it. It costs us MUCH more to eat this way than to go to a fast food restaurant at every meal. By far. That movie will explain why that is.

I want to point out a couple of things that I didn’t know until recently. 1st, We are killing ourselves with cancer by the way Big Food adulterated their products (milk and meat). Did you know that US milk is banned from all of Europe? And most don’t want our meat either?

… About 20 percent of our milk is genetically engineered. Technically this is known as rBGH, the small r stands for recombinant, BGH, is bovine growth hormone… This [milk] contains very high levels of a natural growth factor known as IGF-1… IGF-1 stands for Insulin-like Growth Factor 1. So growth factor 1 is a natural growth factor and is responsible for normal growth but when you drink rBGH milk, you have very, very high levels of this natural growth factor. When you drink it, the IGF-1 survives digestion and is readily absorbed from your small intestine, into your blood. Increased levels of IGF-1 have been shown to increase risks of breast cancer and we have about 20 publications showing this; risk of colon cancer [shown] by about 10 publications; prostate cancer by about another 10 publications. And a further concern: increased levels of IGF-1 block natural defense mechanisms against early cancers, [mechanisms] known as ‘apoptosis.’” The scientific evidence of the dangers of rBGH milk is explained in great detail in Dr. Epstein’s book What’s in Your Milk?, published in 2006. “Based on the concerns which I have just briefly summarized, in 1999, the United Nations Food and Safety Agency, which represents a hundred nations worldwide, ruled unanimously not to set safety standards for rBGH milk, and effectively this has resulted in an international ban on U.S. milk. – Dr. Joseph Mercola

Secondly, Health Insurance Companies invest BIG BUCKS in fast food companies. Yep! They know where to put all that dough they take from you. They put it right back into some of the main reasons you are getting so fat, sick, diabetic and dead.

Health insurance companies invest billions in fast food chains – Mike Adams

(NaturalNews) – Did you ever wonder how health insurance companies drum up future business? It’s easy: Just invest in companies whose products cause chronic degenerative disease, driving people towards more health care needs and therefore more health insurance. And that’s exactly what the health insurance industry is doing.

A new article published in the American Journal of Public Health reveals that U.S. and Canadian health insurance giants own nearly $2 billion worth of stock in fast food giants like McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell and others. So profits made by health insurance companies are reinvested in industries that make people sick and diseased, bringing them back to buy more health insurance down the road.

It’s a pretty clever business model for an industry that seems focused on the almighty dollar and obviously has no concern whatsoever for the actual health status of its customers. If anything, these health insurance companies hope you get sicker!

The simple fact is that our entire health “care” system is totally built around treating illnesses… NOT preventing sickness. It is all PROFIT motive. Why do other countries that have far better health stats fare so much better than the USA (which spends more per capita than any other developed country for health care)? Because they provide and insist on preventative care. They know that if you eat healthy, you don’t need all the meds and procedures. It costs less.

We are a bunch of lazy fat asses (me included) on the most part. 1/2 of young people in Mississippi are obese and this is why the military is worried. One of their poorest, most dependent portions of society is getting too fat for their slaughter mill and they want to remedy that.

Personally I am torn. Altho I don’t want those kids to die for a very long time, it may be better to get fat as hell and have a heart attack than join them and die from a bullet to the head over their Empire.

    Maybe that’s just me.

But the other side of the evil coin (pharmaceutical companies) has the answer for our fat assed woes… EVEN MORE MEDICINE:

If Main Stream medicine really works, Why Are Americans So Unhealthy?

Now, to hear mainstream medicine pushers say it, the only reason Americans are so sick and diseased right now is because — get this — not enough people are taking enough medications! Yes… if they could only convince more parents to drug more babies and toddlers; or if they could get more teens on four, five or six drugs at once; or if they could convince nursing homes to pop a dozen different meds into the mouths of senior citizens then we’d all be healthier!

America, you see, suffers from a medication deficiency. That’s the line of mainstream medicine: More meds = less disease. And now, they’re trying to convince everyone that even healthy people now need meds (statin drugs) even if they show no symptoms of disease.

So now — get this — being healthy is no longer enough to avoid medications! We’re ALL supposed to be medicated, whether we’re healthy or not. Mainstream medicine, you see, isn’t satisfied to just treat sick people with its medications, radiation machines and surgical procedures: It wants to put all the healthy people on pills, too.

And what will be the result of all this? Imagine in your own mind, for a moment: What will be the result if, say, Americans start taking twice as much medication as they do right now. Will Americans be healthier? Of course not. They will be more diseased. More medicated and chemically contaminated.

The fish downstream will be even more polluted with pharmaceutical runoff and the bio sludge human waste “compost” products now being put on farms will be even more heavily saturated with medication chemicals. Will that create health for America? Of course not.

Mainstream medicine does not work. And pushing mainstream medicine onto more people will only cause more sickness, more suffering and more bankruptcies across American households. It will, however, accomplish one very important thing: The obscene financial enrichment of a few powerful corporations like Pfizer, Merck, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca.

And that, my friends, is the entire point of mainstream medicine: To mainline the profits for Big Pharma, sideline the legitimate health problems of the American people, and streamline the criminal soaking of the rich, the poor and the recently-insured in order to turn sickness into profit.

That’s mainstream medicine for you. I’m sure glad I don’t use it.
