Poor Dennis… Maybe You Should Never Have Latched Those Lips On To Barry’s Ass

You Sold Out And It Cost You!

Watching my site stats over the past day, I wondered why all the sudden I was getting a huge amount of hits on this old post, “Flilf – Not Flilf“. Then I read that ass-kisser lost his recent election attempt to Kaptur, after the party he loves so much instigated a redistricting.

I call him  ass-kisser because of this.

Back in 2008, I wanted him as POTUS because he was one of the few anti-war candidates who also was a proponent for Single Payer, Medicare For All Health Care (the only sane system we could have implemented, were it not for the fact that Health Insurance owns Congress and Obama). He was one of the few that seemed to stand up to the Liar-in-Chief. He even wanted to impeach Bush/Cheney (I now see this as political maneuvering to gain anti-war votes, knowing it would be impossible, but at least he tried). He wanted an end to the Federal Reserve. In so many ways, he was the demoRAT Ron Paul, except he seemed to have a heart.

I wrote about him here many times and campaigned for him, as well. I went so far as to suggest he and Ron Paul (another wolf in sheep’s clothing who has fooled many like-minded individuals to myself with his stump rhetoric) run together as POTUS VicePOTUS.

This blog’s search stats tell me that people are searching for Elizabeth, not Dennis (I know they don’t care about Huckabee), so that in itself is telling.

Poor Dennis. You deserve what you get, you wimp. Now join me and the rest of the poor folks without a job.

At least I still call ‘em as I see ‘em.

Tracking The Liar-In-Chief

I was called a Obama Bot by Rothbard freaks at a Facebook Page I recently joined (and subsequently quit within a few days). I provided a link to a search on this blog for “Obama” to show that there is no honest way anyone can say I am a Obama Maniac (as I call them). As a matter of fact, I consider Obama Maniacs and Bushies to be essentially, one in the same in mindset. Further (and this will rub some feathers the wrong way), I consider those who are now championing Ron Paul as some sort of Savior in exactly the same fashion. Why? Because he is a Republican.

You have seen me write “Never an R or D Again” so many times here that it should be self-explanatory, but there are a few new readers (some from that page) and I feel compelled to explain it again.

There is not a single historical example that anyone can share with me that their particular “Savior” from within either of the two fake parties has ever actually been able to do what they claim. I will keep asking for an example, but it never comes. And simply put, it is because the system will never allow them to actually do what they say they will do. Or, they are damned liars from the Get-Go.

The PaulFreaks are clinging to the same hope that the Bushies and Obama Maniacs cling to. Bushies wanted integrity brought back to the White House (I laugh since there was never any integrity contained within, at least in my lifetime of over 50 years). Obama Maniacs wanted “Hope” and “Change” brought into the White House (and look what you bumbling idiots got us). Now, we have a bunch of people who think that Paul (whom I agree with on probably 90% of his stances) will be allowed to do something while working WITHIN the same tainted party.

But if these people will be honest with themselves, instead of the tired old Straw Man arguments and canards they incessantly keep throwing up, they would understand that even tho they agree with Paul, it is the tainted system that controls it all. These PaulFreaks think the man will be allowed to carry forward on ending the Fed, etc, but when his party is so corrupt and owned by these very powers, they can’t seem to understand the impossibility of it. They think that the party will not fight the initiatives and put up roadblocks worse than any independent candidate could ever face. They think that the tickling words to their ears will be pursued by the very Party that has been fighting it for over 50 years (and I am talking about the Demublican/Repubocrat Party, for they are both the same entity, just with two faces to keep the meat eaters divided). They forget all of those before him that tried and were quickly killed, while the media of the day covered it up or shrugged it off (and that Goon Squad link doesn’t even get into the Kennedy assassination, which was arguably done because he wanted to have sound money and dump the Fed).

All one has to do to see that I am consistent is to read here just a bit. Do a search here on Paul or Obama or Bush and see that I have not hedged, especially since Kucinich showed what a Party Clown he is/was. It was that final nail in the coffin of the false duopoly that convinced me totally that the current system is beyond hope and that people like Kucinch and Paul are just pacifiers for those of us who see the truth… that the system is corrupt and tainted.

So, as another example of how the candidates tell you one thing, but change immediately upon being elected by The Sheople, I offer (via Activist Post) the promises made by Obama about GMO foods. Now compare it to what he is doing (which is NOTHING, except allowing GMO foods to be hidden inside almost everything we consume from a grocery store). If you think, even for a second that Paul will be different, then you need to buy the ocean front property I am selling here in Tennessee.

BuelahMan is Justin Bieber’s Newest Fan

My daughter is 6. She is “in love” with this kid and “wants to marry him”. She has MADE me sit thru each and every video of him (and Usher). For the life of me, I don’t get it, except to say that the kid is an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist and singer. He dances, too. Personally, if he did rock and roll I might be even more adoring of him.

But before I go on, I want to tell you about my day.

I have been to a foot “specialist” to confirm what I already knew: I have torn my Achilles tendon. This is no minor deal, either. This tendon is one of the worst to tear and repair and is apt to have many more problems with as I go forth. This specialist is a great guy. He was a student of my Mother-in-law and actually rode with her to school for quite some time. He also graduated high school with my wife. He understands my financial situation and is breaking a few of his business rules, but even with that, this is going to cost me alot of money that I don’t have.

Case in point, “The Boot”:

This sweet little contraption normally costs $500. Our friend (The Dr) let me have it for $300. They wanted me to use crutches with this boot and would sell me a pair for $80 (luckily I have access to a bent up pair that my wife’s Grandfather used 20 years ago… which will suffice). I can bend them back straight if it becomes too much of a problem, but they’re good for now.

They did Xrays of my foot and ankle ($150) and his charge for the visit was $100. My insurance comes with a $3500 deductible starting at the beginning of this year, so guess what… it’s all on me at my $290/week unemployment set to end the end of this month. He allowed me to pay $200, but the rest is due within 30 days. He has an order for me to go to the local hospital for an MRI on the lower leg, foot and ankle to confirm what we both know is the problem. I’m guessing somewhere around $1000 (maybe more).

Then, if true (I go back Tuesday for confirmation), he will send me to another Doctor for surgery in a town not too far from here (for he doesn’t work on anything above the ankle). It appears that most Achilles tendon tears are actually up around the calf, where the tendon is at its weakest point and not where it attaches to the heel. All of this means that I can figure to spend at least another $5,000 for the surgery and new Doctor. This is all money I don’t have and no way to get.

So, why do I now find myself a Bieber fan? Because he said this in a Rolling Stones article:

The Canadian-born (Justin) Bieber never plans on becoming an American citizen. “You guys are evil,” he jokes. “Canada’s the best country in the world.” He adds, “We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard’s baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby’s premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.”

I don’t really know if he was joking or not, but the system is evil as hell, in my opinion. If you have read here any length of time, you know how I feel about Big Meds. I was a huge advocate for Single Payer and wrote about it constantly when the debate (yeah, as IF they ever debated Single payer) was brewing.

I have tracked those corrupt Congresspeople that gain from fighting against Single Payer. And I have paid tribute to the very few who worked to get it debated (and then the ones who capitulated like the lap-dogs they are). I have called the lying liars out on several occasions, noting that Mr Soetero was once a very vocal advocate (but that only happened with certain audiences):

Poor lying bastard.

I also did a series called Where In The World Is Universal Healthcare, where one could do their own investigation into how other countries have implemented similar Single Payer systems and achieved far better results in health that we could ever achieve with a profit driven system. I highly advise you read thru those posts to see how you, as an American, are getting screwed.

Suffice it to say that I recognized that the American Sheople were being taken for a ride and most gobbled up the lies like a 750 pounder gobbles up donuts. We could have better, but the people here need to wake up and get rid of the two party criminal Corptocracy which feeds in large amounts from the health insurance industry.

Rock on, Biebes!

Paul Craig Roberts Quits: I Don’t Know Whether To Be Pissed Or Give Up, Too

What is there to say about the movement? One of the most outspoken “insider” realists around seemingly sees the efforts as moot.

Should I be pissed? Should I quit? (I ask both of these to American Everyman)

I don’t know what to think about this. There is not the best rationale in his quitting. Sure, they are trying to squash any dissenting voices, but isn’t that the call to get louder?

I don’t know whether to feel sad or feel sorry for Mr Roberts.

Are we all to take the same path… give up the fight? Should we all decide that it is too late and just hang up our efforts?

I don’t know whether to be pissed or give up, too.

Mr Roberts originally penned his “retirement?” at CounterPunch. And in closing said this:

America’s fate was sealed when the public and the anti-war movement bought the government’s 9/11 conspiracy theory. The government’s account of 9/11 is contradicted by much evidence. Nevertheless, this defining event of our time, which has launched the US on interminable wars of aggression and a domestic police state, is a taboo topic for investigation in the media. It is pointless to complain of war and a police state when one accepts the premise upon which they are based.

These trillion dollar wars have created financing problems for Washington’s deficits and threaten the U.S. dollar’s role as world reserve currency. The wars and the pressure that the budget deficits put on the dollar’s value have put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block. Former Goldman Sachs chairman and U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson is after these protections for the elderly. Fed chairman Bernanke is also after them. The Republicans are after them as well. These protections are called “entitlements” as if they are some sort of welfare that people have not paid for in payroll taxes all their working lives.

With over 21 per cent unemployment as measured by the methodology of 1980, with American jobs, GDP, and technology having been given to China and India, with war being Washington’s greatest commitment, with the dollar over-burdened with debt, with civil liberty sacrificed to the “war on terror,” the liberty and prosperity of the American people have been thrown into the trash bin of history.

The militarism of the U.S. and Israeli states, and Wall Street and corporate greed, will now run their course. As the pen is censored and its might extinguished, I am signing off.

At the same time we lost one of the stalwart defenders and fighters of the only sane health care solution this week to the corptocracy (speaking of Kucinich). It seems that the few people that were holding the mantle of peace and caring for Americans (which would also help the rest of the world) over the corporate control the majority fall in line with, are folding. Giving up.

What does that mean for us… the little insignificant folks who fight with whatever methods they have access to? When the icons are dying, flip-flopping, downright selling out, or just giving up the fight and there is no one but us left, is it a lost cause?

I don’t think so. I believe that the only way to a correction is for all Americans (the ones that have the capability of transcending the mind control) to learn that their “party” is a scam and that they should do as I do and promise to not vote for either a Dem or a Rep (in my case ever again). If everyone would make and keep this promise, then obviously neither party would hold or gain another seat. But don’t fall for some replacement “Tea Party” who was simply hijacked by the old guard ReTHUGlicans. For this is precisely what will happen and you know it. They have already put their mitts all over it.

But where do the replacements come from? For just because we make the vow doesn’t mean that there will not be the undying sycophant who considers party more important than any issue facing us (which may be around 20-30% of the population, I estimate). It IS ingrained. However, it is also evident that many people are awaking. My friend (in real life) Dr Doug told me he was a long-time Republican and fell for the BS. He has been reading and totally immersing himself in links from here and many other places and finds himself to be much more libertarian than before. He is but one of many folks I know (in real life) that are seeing the light. That both parties are complicit.

So, education is the key. Being able to show people that most of these people in these party (by far) are corporatist and will fall into line no matter what. How else can you explain Kucinich or ALL the Republicans who voted against this bill without pushing for a Medicare-For-All system (or some semblance of a populist defense). The fact is that this theater we are seeing from our couches and desk chairs still, no matter what the kabuki, is nothing more than protecting and enlarging the Big Money control of America. It truly is nothing less than fascism at its base and total makeup.

I am not advocating any armed takeover (hitting the beach, as has been noted). For, unless the entire citizenry were to engage, it is a loss. I do not have that kind of trust in my fellow citizens. But there is a way to make a change, by working against their system. If enough were to see it and agree, then it is possible (I know what a HUGE “if” that is).

That being said, no matter what Mr Roberts does (hopefully just takes a short break), I am forced to keep on ranting and raving, hoping that someone new, everyday, can be reached and caused to rethink their brainwashing; Search a new horizon beyond that Two Party Paradigm.

One way to do that is search for new places to obtain information. My friend (unreal life) D.Eris from Poli-Tea (we have shared links and I have featured their work here before) has joined ranks with several Independent minded folks to form a new Blog for Independents called “Third Party and Independent Daily“. It is new and I have been reading with great interest. The goal is to move beyond that paradigm and provide news specifically for Independents and Third party folks. From the “About” block:

Third Party and Independent Daily is a multi-partisan group weblog that aggregates news and blog items from across the political spectrum on the third party and independent web.

Check ‘em out.

I know it is only a start. And I know how it feels to be depressed and feel as if nothing works. But, that is certainly not the case with Mr Robert’s influence on me and many more that valued his perspective and insight.

Take a break, Paul, then come back.

If Liz Were Queen, We Would Undermine The Entire Process

I read at a place called “If Liz Were Queen“. Nice blog, especially when it comes to the health care/health insurance issues/debate/giveaway. She explains why the Tea Partiers Are Clueless To What Is Really Wrong With The Health Care Legislation:

WHAT IS REALLY WRONG WITH THIS BILL?

IT FORCES 50 MILLION AMERICANS TO BUY AN INSURANCE PRODUCT FROM KNOWN CROOKS!

IT IS NOT “SOCIALIZED” MEDICINE. These people are just repeating what the Republican leadership have told them to say–people like Chuck Grassley who have done nothing but lie about the content of the bill.

IT IS WALL STREET CORPORATE PREDATOR MEDICINE.

IT HAS NO SAFEGUARD OF ANOTHER CHOICE, ANOTHER PLACE OTHER THAN WALL STREET FOR AMERICANS TO GO TO PURCHASE THEIR INSURANCE.  IT HAS NO PUBLIC OPTION.

IT IS NOT A “GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER” YOU FOOLS!  IT IS JUST ANOTHER WALL STREET TAKEOVER.

Her Highness provided a youtube clip of a young student as he interviews various partiers and gets their incoherent and erroneous responses.

Doesn’t that just say it all? Is it just me, but wouldn’t it make just a bit more sense if these people actually knew what they hell they were protesting? And let me just say right here and now, if you have the audacity to wear a GW Bush hat after those 8 years, you are totally beyond any hope. Its like a Bush bumper sticker on your car: surely you are so embarrassed by your two votes that put that imbecile (and his evil handler, Dick) in office, that you long ago scraped that off (even if the paint or the bumper, itself, had to go).

If this is what it means to be in a Tea party, ya’ll can have it.

Her Highness also points out that the Republicans May Have The Tables Turned On Them Over Health Care In November:

For certain it will be the Republicans from poor areas who don’t endorse the health care bill who will suffer the most.

Yep that’s how it’s shaping up.  Many of the Republicans who long touted that  the Democrats will lose the House and the Senate if they vote for health care reform look like they could lose out in November if they vote against the health care bill.

Virginia Foxx, a Republican Congresswoman from the 5th Congressional District of North Carolina might be ammong the Republican casualties in November…

Wouldn’t that be great, except that it could get much, MUCH better than putting Corporately owned and controlled Democrats such as Dennis Kucinich back in the office where they, like the Senate’s Bernie Sanders, can simply back off from principle and promises because standing for what is right might “Undermine The Entire Process“. Well, duh, you damned old fool. That is exactly what needs to be done. Disrupt the giveaway and make the system right. So, with this kowtowing remark, we lost the only seemingly sensible Senator we had.

They ALL suck.

Let us acknowledge that and get rid of every damned one of them next election cycle.

Simply do NOT vote another incumbent and ignore the two parties. For even the “Independent” Bernie Sanders has no spine after being in for so long.

They ALL must go.

If Democrats really get serious about real health care reform as Harry Reid has promised and pass the public option in the next couple of months, it’s all over for the Republicans in November.

The Democratic health  care reform would have the full support of 82% of the American people.

The Republican liars like Ghuck Grassley with his lies about “death panels” and other Republican poliiticians with their lies about the bill supporting abortion could very well be toast.

But if the Democrats are not careful and do not support a strong public option they can lose as well–not to Republicans, but to independents.  More and more Americans are beginning to get the ties of Congress–both Republicans and Democrats–to Wall Street.  We are not so dumb that we don’t get the connection between 50 million forced Wall Street Health Insurance customers and the stock portfolios of the 263 multimillionaires in Congress.

Stopping The Health Insurance Give-away Bill

Dennis the Chamberlain, don't forget to grab the train of the King's robe

Should we trust Dennis ever again?

Nope. He sold his soul to the devil, himself.

As Kurt Nimmo writes at Infowars:

Meanwhile, Obama managed to arm-twist one-time totalitarian care opponent Dennis Kucinich into backing the plan Democrats say they will enact without votes in Congress. Obama had summoned Kucinich to Air Force One and Dennis kissed the ring. “Even though I don’t like the bill, I’ve made a decision to support it in the hope that we can move to a more comprehensive approach once this legislation is done,” he told reporters.

Apparently Kucinich no longer consider Obama’s totalitarian care plan a sham. In October, he said the entire legislative package was “a bailout for insurance companies.” The American people are “being mandated to buy private insurance. If you read the bill, the people are going to end up paying — the insurance companies can raise rates 25 percent right off the bat, if you read the bill,” said Kucinich.

Dennis Kucinich, one of a very small number of Democrats who originally opposed Obamacare, now apparently believes it is fine and dandy for the government to force the commoners to buy health care insurance at gunpoint. He also believes large insurance corporations deserve a monopoly in partnership with the government.

Should we ever trust Dennis Kucinich again? I think not.

Dennis tried to defend his indefensible traitor action (piece of shit, lying scumbag), presented at AfterDowningStreet

Single Payer advocates explain reality to the Corporate whores, Howard Dean and John Conyers. h/t SinglePayerAction

And we also get the benefit (read as “sham”) of having the senate protect the health insurance premium double digit increases.

There may be but one way to stop this horrendous bill: Wait until the individual states sue.

Raw Story explains that Virginia will sue

(not that you would think it is a good idea from the Dem party sycophants commenting there)

Or maybe Idaho (thanks to AfterDowningStreet) for the link:

Idaho on Wednesday became the first state to pass a law saying no thanks to part of President Obama’s health care proposal.

The Idaho Health Care Freedom Act says in part, “every person within the state of Idaho is and shall be free to choose or decline to choose any mode of securing health care services without penalty or threat of penalty.”

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter, a Republican, said Wednesday he signed it because he believes any health care laws should ensure people are “treated as an individual, rather than as an amorphous mass whose only purpose in this world is to obey federal mandates.”

Several other states may follow suit.

And of course, the obvious next step in the plan is to abolish Medicare and Medicaid. Walgreens in Washington State will stop accepting medicare payments for meds (which will be the last day my family will ever shop in their stores in TN or anywhere else, for that matter)

Effective April 16, Walgreens drugstores across the state won’t take any new Medicaid patients, saying that filling their prescriptions is a money-losing proposition — the latest development in an ongoing dispute over Medicaid reimbursement.

The company, which operates 121 stores in the state, will continue filling Medicaid prescriptions for current patients.

In a news release, Walgreens said its decision to not take new Medicaid patients stemmed from a “continued reduction in reimbursement” under the state’s Medicaid program, which reimburses it at less than the break-even point for 95 percent of brand-name medications dispensed to Medicaid patents. (h/t PrisonPlanet)

If you want to see a non-corporately owned person explain the truth in opposition to the flip-flopping Kucinich at Democracy Now. Watch as Nader says the truth about the bill and how Dennis cannot explain himself without admitting he had to kowtow to corporate pressures.

Dennis, you know that Obama is not going to help real America. Ralph knows this and is unapologetic in explaining it.

The video at the Democracy Now link is one of the most important you can see that not only tears Dennis a new asshole, but explains exactly what is happening in this bill. Dennis, however, is owned and indebted to the Corporately owned Democratic party. And as far as I am concerned, he can have them and suck on them and do whatever it is he needs to do to kiss their ass. At least Ralph didn’t.

At the end, Dennis shows his true colors and that his dedication and motivation is to protect Obama and the Dem Party.

This, in and of itself, is enough to write him off as I have.

B’man’s Piece of Shit Watch: Dennis Kucinich Has Decided Principle Is Meaningless

Until today, I have thought of Dennis Kucinich as a real leader. One that was beyond reproach. One, that I even put over Nader (for a few reasons). I wrote about him this morning, in defense against Ms Hamsher’s post (she was damned right and I was damned wrong). But her warning should now go out. Give back every dime, you coward.

I have focused Dennis on my B’Man’s Patriot Watch more than once and even considered him a hero. I have given money to this man and I don’t live in his district. I have supported him and would continue to support him, IF he hadn’t emasculated himself in front of the entire country. He allowed Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi to screw us and he didn’t even put up a whimper of a fight. He was the only one who “acted” as if he truly wanted change. But, he doesn’t want change, what he has is “a real desire to see our president succeed“.

But you, not so much.

Dennis, you cowardly piece of shit.

Let me apologize to anyone who considers me a critical thinker and/or one who can pin people fairly accurately (I couldn’t have been MORE wrong about this man) and provide you with something that a past president said of honesty in politics (and I have argued SHOULD be the case, but is no more):

We cannot afford to differ on the question of honesty if we expect our republic permanently to endure. Honesty is not so much a credit as an absolute prerequisite to efficient service to the public. Unless a man is honest, we have no right to keep him in public life; it matters not how brilliant his capacity.”: Theodore Roosevelt – (1858-1919) 26th US President

It is not at all possible to believe a single one of these fuckers. Thank you, Dennis Kucinich, you piece of shit, for showing me that my only real glimmer of hope is nothing more than another kowtowing, pissy little fucker who was bought and paid for by bullshit.

There are those of us who know better.

You just fucked up, Dennis. Big time. I wonder which Demublican asslicker is going to replace you?

Scott puts it as well or better than old B’Man can at AmericanEveryman:

Dennis took a plane ride with Obama and sold us out. Threw us right the fuck under the bus. He sold us out after talking to Obama and Pelosi. He sold us out because he was told that without his support other progressives would also hold out and Pelosi would have to use the “deem and pass” trick to force Obamacare on the American people. That action would harm her rep and Obama’s rep. So he flipped his vote without getting a goddamn thing in exchange.

The one thing he said at the end was that he “didn’t like the process” that has taken place on this bill, when he was asked about the threat of the “deem and pass” possibility. He hung his head and said, “look, if your looking for someone to say they approve of the way this bill was handled, I’m not the guy. I don’t like anything about how this bill was passed. I’m voting “yes” and that is it.”

Possibly a little insight into what happened on that plane flight to Cleveland. BUT I DON”T GIVE A SHIT. Real leaders continue to stand NO MATTER WHAT THE FUCKING CONSEQUENCES.

Here that Dennis? you piece of shit.

Did Martin Luther King cave, you cowardly motherfucker? Did JFK in the end?

They were heros, you’re a punk. End of story.

Tell Me He Was Wrong: I’ll Tell You We Missed Our Chance

I put on my Dennis Kucinich for President T-Shirt this morning. I saw a video mix of all his answers in the few Dem POTUS debates at AfterDowningStreet (and again, this morning at AmericanEveryman) and as I watched and listened to him, I knew that America had made a humumngous mistake by not electing him (or Nader, after Dennis got out). As much as I respect Nader, Kucinich was my first choice.

Below is why.

Now, I am not interested in the strawmen you erect (just like I snarkily replied at American Everyman, saying, “But he is so short…”), but I am interested in why anyone would think this man is lesser than the fool you elected. Or any of the bunch.

Watch this video and tell me that America doesn’t need a man of this caliber. Just imagine how it would be to elect a president who was right in the first place and right every time. Explain to me one issue he was wrong on. Then compare to the Corporate wienie you elected.

You bunch of dumbasses:

B’Man’s Ass Kissing Sycophant Watch: Moulitsas and Erickson Are Indistinquishable

There are sites that simply cater to the meat eaters from the two bogus faux parties. They have their place and script to follow. Yet, they are truly indistinguishable when it comes to logic (neither has any) or any semblance of critical thought.

They both play their role as pawns, leading the gullible few Sheople of red or blue stripes to the altar of the Demublican Party, where they can fight and scream and make foolish claims (with the purpose of further division and no clear “progressive” or “conservative” endgame). They work to fire up the few fools that still believe they represent the masses.

Go to either site (Daily Kos or Redstate) and you can see that there is no real debate or dialogue… just that particular meme being spread and accepted by what I can only deem as total and complete imbeciles (if they believe it). This is about 30 – 40 % of America that believes these two lies. This means that 30-40% of America are ignorant fools who couldn’t think their way out of a wet toilet paper bag.

Eric tells us that the torture-loving, Lesbo without a cause, Liz Cheney, is right. That her shtick about the Al-Qaeda 7 is correct and the attacks against her are wrong. He tells us that it is the “left” that dare represent “terrorists” and that the goodly right never would (isn’t it convenient to forget John Adams defending the British soldiers charged in the Boston Massacre). There are a multitude of examples of how it once was honorable to represent anyone in the system. It is what they swear an oath to do. But that doesn’t matter to a political sycophant set only on dividing and obfuscating the reality of the Constitution and the way things actually work.

None of that matters when you have a political objective that has nothing, whatsoever, to do with honoring the law and Constitution of the United States of America.

Since we know that the false right paradigm is as bogus as Yoo’s writings and Karl Rove’s dancing, let us think about the “other side” of the one-sided coin: Markos Moulitsas Zuniga. In my estimation, he is even more dangerous. I figured out long ago that his site is nothing more than a front for the Dem Party. Although labeled a “Progressive”, he is hardly that (he was once a precinct captain for the Republican Party and from his idiotic, ass-kissing perspective, one would be a fool to consider him a “progressive”. He is regressive. His site and Crooks and Liars are two peas in the same corruptly rotten pod.

But, with the help of the media (MSNBC, etc) and the Whitehouse, Kos has come into the spotlight (even for his 15 minutes, see below). He has been knighted as the online king of progressives, yet, knows virtually nothing about progressive causes. He has established a huge following of Sheople that would suck on his little weenie, if he weren’t too embarrassed to pull it out.

So, when the only real “Progressive” in Congress stands up to the status quo of enriching and awarding health insurance companies, Markos says this of him, ““I’m going to hold people like Dennis Kucinich responsible for the 40,000 Americans that die each year from a lack of health care.”

You see, it has nothing to do with the insurance scam that causes all these people die. It is Dennis’ fault because he has something burning inside of him that is devoid in Zuniga…. Integrity and honor. And this doesn’t even touch the area of Moulitsas’ lacking mental capacity.

He said on Countdown, ““God knows it’s taken us a long time to even get our toe in the door. … If somebody like Kucinich wants to block that, I find that completely reprehensible.”

But I ask you, what is more reprehensible: never lifting a finger to push the powers that control him and make his blog so powerful to enact the most progressive solution to healthcare, the Single payer system Kucinich penned or just kowtowing to the Dem Party that is giving away even MORE to the health insurance industries? Who do you think is considering the people of this country more, Dennis (a multi-termed elected official and multiple POTUS candidate) or Markos (a paid shill with CIA ties)? You can go here to hear him talk about it or here or here to read about it.

The fool then said that Dennis’ approach wasa very Ralph Nader-esque approach to politics”. (As if that is a bad thing)

You see, it is apparent. Kos only cares about fulfilling the paradigm’s goal of division and complete ravaging of America. And there are throngs of gullible foolish idiots falling all over themselves to be recognized by this puny little piece of shit… the kind that hangs in the bowl and needs multiple flushings just to get rid of it. And even after it is gone, the stink will stay forever.

But he doesn’t stop with criticizing the politics of Kucinch. He is making claims to bolster the divide (which aren’t true):

What he is doing is undermining this reform.” “He is making common cause with Republicans. And I think that is a perfect excuse and a rational one for a primary challenge.”

He then goes personal:

He used his 2004 run for president to score dates. Luckily, he’s married this time around so we’ll be spared that pathetic display of desperation.”

LOL (I can do that, too): coming from a fag-looking little cretin like Kos, that is hilarious. (I’m sorry, I don’t know if he’d suck a dick, but I am confident he’d hold it in his mouth for a while).

Besides, I addressed the FLILF question long ago here. I must admit that I have never seen the man Markos is married to, but shim is likely lacking in comparison. Certainly in thinking ability, to have accepted “puny penis’s” offer in matrimony.

OK, enough little pecker and ugly wife jokes (but I can give as well as he can, just to prove the point and NO, I am not anti-gay anything).

I want to refocus on the CIA connection that NO ONE except Kurt Nimmo at Prison Planet and some folks at My Left Wing have addressed (and got some of them banned, telling me that MLW has about as little integrity as Kos, but today was the first time I ever read there). Simply do a search for “markos cia” and you will find all sorts of discussions around this subject (back around the summer of 2007).

Just go here and click the Real Audio link. The interviewer and Kos get into the CIA topic at the 12 min mark and at 12:50, Kos admits that he had a secret. But this secret isn’t the kind that everyday rednecks like you and I are privy to. No, Markos Moulitsas, actually spent over 6 months with the CIA. He then goes on for many minutes defending the “liberal” CIA and explains that all they want is a “stable world“.

It was said in such a inconsequential way, as to infer that signing up to work for the CIA is an everyday experience just like filling out a McDonald’s job application. Then spent 6 months in the process (just like a McDonald’s job, eh?)

Oh, PLEASE! I know the man is a blithering fruitcake, but I cannot fathom that people would actually believe this shit. But believe, they do. At least temporarily. But, even Kos’s old booty buddy, HuffPo, is beginning to question that fool’s “progressiveness”:

But let’s look very closely at the shift-changing  policies of Kos. Funny how a cursory search on that bogus propaganda bulletin board shows that just in Dec of last year, Markos was agreeing with Kucinich (obviously before his handlers chewed his ass out and made him change the meme). He wrote a post called, “Remove Mandate, or kill This Bill“.

But, the idiotic thing about Kos’ threat to “primary Dennis” is laughable, since the date has passed for someone to challenge Dennis in his district (where he is loved). In other words, Markos is flexing puny little muscles that can’t lift anything more than the anger of the sycophantic fools that follow him.

Ian Welsh at HuffPo explains this better than I can:

Kos is threatening Dennis Kucinich, of all people, with a primary if he doesn’t vote for health care “reform.”

Let me get this straight, Kos wants to primary one of the most reliable and principled progressives in Congress (perhaps the most principled one) because Kucinich doesn’t want to vote for a bill which will force Americans to buy crappy health insurance from private companies?

First they came for Massa, and now, not being able to find any dirt on Kucinich, they’re putting the pressure on, and Kos is going along with it?

Because, lord knows, what progressives should spend their time and money on this year is primarying someone like Kucinich. What they should do is start a left wing fucking civil war so that Obama, Hoyer and Rahm Emanuel can sit back and laugh as the left wing tears itself apart over a bill which, whether you want it passed or not, no one who is on the left wing should think is better than mediocre.

Be very clear, if “progressives” like Kos want to primary Kucinich, many other progressives will defend him and fight for him. So, instead of picking up new seats, we’ll be wasting time and money fighting over a seat already held by a progressive.

Those who want to go after Kucinich are acting as Obama and Rahm’s heavies. Acting as enforcers for a President who believes in indefinite detention without trial, who has expanded the war in Afghanistan, gutted civil rights and who wants to force every American to buy health insurance from private companies.

It’s time for Kos’s 15 minutes to end. The man’s stupidity, hubris and willingness to be used by a president who is objectively a conservative means he is now doing more damage to the left than good.

Ian, where you miss the point is that Kos has NEVER been anything but a Corporate owned, CIA controlled asshole that has convinced the Dumbass Democratic party Sheople that he is one of them. It is nothing more than the false paradigm in play. Time for the Sheople to become People and tell him to STFU. And every follower that begs to suck his wee little penis, too.

It is time we identify the Cass Sunstein-esque cabal, name them and put them where they belong, in the annals of insignificance. Then, let us vote out each and every asshole who counters Kucinich’s plan for Single Payer healthcare. And reward those that agree.

Kucinich Announces Introduction of Privileged Resolution to End Afghan War

Washington has a lot of money. It has trillions for war, but no money for housing. Money for war, but no money for health care. Money for war, but no money for education. Money for war – no money to rebuild our cities. No money to create jobs, but money for war.

The Democrats took control of the Congress in 2006 with a promise to end the War in Iraq and it’s not enough for this Administration to slow-walk the end of the war, which could continue for years to come. And it’s not enough for a Democratic Administration to escalate a war in Afghanistan at a time when there’s no clear objective and no end in sight of the contribution of blood and treasure, to a region which has never been conquered by any foreign country.

It’s time that we take a stand as citizens. And it’s also time to force Congress to take it’s Constitutional responsibility seriously. Article 1, Section 8 requires that Congress has the war-making power. It is absolutely imperative that Congress be required to assert it’s responsibility on behalf of the American people. Congress is directly elected by the people. And Congress has to respond and step up to it’s responsibility to decide if we’re going to stay at war in Afghanistan. And so, soon, I will bring to the Floor of the House a Privileged Resolution which will force a vote as to whether or not we stay in Afghanistan.

I ask your support for this Resolution. I ask you to go to that page on our website where you can sign-in and pledge your support to the effort to get out of Afghanistan; and where you can circulate far-and-wide the petitions that will enable us to be able to build a rising, civic movement for peace and social justice in America.

Money for war: Isn’t it time that we demanded that the resources of our country be used to create the society that we know that we’re capable of building.

Thank you very much.
Dennis

A Prayer for America – by Dennis Kucinich

I offer these brief remarks today as a prayer for our country, as a celebration of our country. With love of democracy. With love of our country. With hope for our country. With a belief that the light of freedom cannot be extinguished as long as it is inside of us. With a belief that freedom rings resoundingly in a democracy each time we speak freely. With the understanding that freedom stirs the human heart and fear stills it. With the belief that a free people cannot walk in fear and faith at the same time. With the understanding that there is a deeper truth in the unity of the United States. That implicit in the union of our country is the union of all people, everywhere. That all people are essentially one. That the world is interconnected not only on the material level of economics, trade, communication, and transportation; but interconnected through human consciousness, through the human heart, through the heart of the world, through the simply expressed impulse to be and to breathe free.

I offer this prayer for America.

Let us pray that our nation will remember that the unfolding of the promise of democracy in our nation paralleled the striving and accomplishment of civil rights. That is why we must challenge the rationale of the Patriot Act. We must ask why should America put aside guarantees of constitutional justice?

How can we justify in effect canceling the First Amendment and the right of free speech, and the right to peacefully assemble?

How can we justify, in effect, the canceling the Fourth Amendment, probable cause, the prohibitions against unreasonable search and seizure?

How can we justify, in effect, canceling the Fifth Amendment, nullifying due process, allowing for indefinite incarceration without a trial?

How can we justify, in effect, canceling the Sixth Amendment, the right to prompt and public trial?

How can we justify, in effect, canceling the Eighth Amendment which protects against cruel and unusual punishment?

We cannot justify widespread wiretaps and internet surveillance without judicial supervision, let alone with it.

We cannot justify secret searches without a warrant.

We cannot justify giving the Attorney General the ability to designate domestic terror groups.

We cannot justify giving the FBI total access to any type of data which may exist in any system anywhere, including medical and financial records.

We cannot justify giving the CIA the ability to target people in this country for domestic intelligence and intelligence surveillance.

We cannot justify a government which takes from the people our right to privacy and then assumes for its own operations a right to total secrecy.

The Attorney General recently covered up a statue of Lady Justice showing her bosom as if to underscore there is no danger of justice exposing herself in this administration.

Let us pray, oremus, that our nation’s leaders will not be overcome by fear. Because today there is great fear in the Capitol. And this must be understood before we can ask about the shortcomings of Congress in this current environment.

The great fear began when we had to evacuate the Capitol on September 11. It continued when we had to leave the Capitol again when a bomb scare occurred as members were pressing the CIA during a secret briefing. It continued when we abandoned Washington during the anthrax scare, when anthrax, possibly from a government lab, arrived in the mail. It continued when the Attorney General declared a nationwide terror alert and then brought the destructive Patriot Bill to the floor of the House of Representatives. It continued in the release of the Bin Laden tapes at the very same time the President was announcing our country would withdraw from the ABM treaty.

It remains present in the cordoning off of the Capitol. It is present in the camouflaged armed national guardsmen who greet members of Congress each day we enter the Capitol campus. It is present in the labyrinth of concrete barriers through which we must pass each time we go to vote.

The trappings of a state of siege trap us in a state of fear, ill-equipped to deal with the Patriot Games, the Mind Games, the War Games of an unelected President and his undisclosed Vice President.

Let us pray. Let us pray that our country will stop this war. “To provide for the common defense” is one of the formational principles of America. Our Congress gave the President the ability to respond to the tragedy of September 11. We licensed a response to those who helped create the terror of September 11th. But we the people and our elected representatives must reserve the right to measure the response, to proportion the response, to challenge the response, and to correct the response.

Because we did not authorize the invasion of Iraq.

We did not authorize the invasion of Iran.

We did not authorize the invasion of North Korea.

We did not authorize the bombing of civilians in Afghanistan.

We did not authorize permanent detainees in Guantanamo Bay.

We did not authorize the withdrawal from the Geneva Convention.

We did not authorize military tribunals suspending due process and habeas corpus.

We did not authorize assassination squads.

We did not authorize the resurrection of COINTELPRO.

We did not authorize the repeal of the Bill of Rights.

We did not authorize the revocation of the Constitution.

We did not authorize national identity cards.

We did not authorize the eye of Big Brother to peer from cameras throughout our cities.

We did not authorize an eye for an eye.

Nor did we ask that the blood of innocent people, who perished on September 11, be avenged with the blood of innocent villagers in Afghanistan.

We did not authorize this administration to wage war anytime, anywhere, anyhow it pleases.

We did not authorize war without end.

We did not authorize a permanent war economy.

Yet we are upon the threshold of a permanent war economy. The President has requested a $45.6 billion increase in military spending. All defense-related programs will cost close to $400 billion.

Consider that the Department of Defense has never passed an independent audit.

Consider that the Inspector General notified Congress, recently, that the Pentagon cannot properly account for $1.2 trillion – that’s trillion – in expenditures. Correct, that it cannot account for $1.2 trillion in transactions. Consider that in recent years the Department of Defense could not match $22 billion worth of expenditures to the items it purchased. Consider that it has written off as lost billions of dollars worth of in-transit inventory and stored nearly $30 billion worth of spare parts it did not need.

Yet the Pentagon’s budget grows with more money for weapons systems to fight a cold war which ended, weapon systems in search of new enemies to create new wars. This has nothing to do with fighting terror. This has everything to do with fueling a military industrial machine with the treasure of our nation, risking the future of our nation, risking democracy itself with the militarization of thought which follows the militarization of the budget.

Let us pray for our children. Our children deserve a world without end. Not a war without end. Our children deserve a world free of the terror of hunger, free of the terror of poor health care, free of the terror of homelessness, free of the terror of ignorance, free of the terror of hopelessness, free of the terror of policies which are committed to a world view which is not appropriate for the survival of democratic values, not appropriate for the survival of a free people, not appropriate for the survival of a nation, not appropriate for the survival of the world.

Let us pray that we have the courage and the will as a people, and as a nation, to shore ourselves up, to reclaim from the ruins of September 11th our democratic traditions.

Let us declare. Let us declare our love of democracy. And declare our intent for peace.

Let us work to make nonviolence an organizing principle in our own society.

Let us recommit ourselves to the slow and painstaking work of statecraft, which sees peace, not war, as being inevitable.

Let us work for a world where someday war becomes archaic.

Let us work for a world where nuclear disarmament is an imperative. This is the vision which the proposal to create a Department of Peace envisions. Forty-three members of Congress are now cosponsoring the legislation.

Let us work for a world where America can lead the way in banning all nuclear weapons not only from our land and sea and sky but from outer space itself. This is the vision of HR 3616: A universe free of fear. Where we can look up at God’s creation in the stars and imagine infinite wisdom, infinite peace, infinite possibilities. Not infinite war, because we are taught that the kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven.

Let us pray. Pray that we have the courage to replace the images of death which haunt us, the layers of images of September 11th, faded into images of patriotism, spliced into images of military mobilization, jump-cut into images of our secular celebrations of the World Series, New Year’s Eve, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the strobic flashes which touch our deepest fears, let us replace those images with the images of people working to rebuild their democratic institutions. With images of the work of human relations. Of the work of reaching out to people, helping our citizens here at home. Of lifting the plight of people everywhere.

That is the America which has the ability to rally the support of the world.

That is the America which stands not in pursuit of an axis of evil, but which is itself the axis of hope and faith and peace and freedom.

America, America. God shed grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood and sisterhood.

America, America. Long may Thy land be bright with Freedom’s holy light

America, America. Let us pray for our country. Let us love our country. Let us defend our country not only from the threats without but from the threats within.

America, America. Crown thy good. Not with weapons of mass destruction. Not with invocations of an axis of evil. Not through breaking international treaties. Not through establishing America as king of a uni-polar world. But through looking at America as a nation among nations and viewing the world as an interconnected whole.

Crown thy good, America. Crown thy good with sisterhood and brotherhood. And crown thy good with compassion and restraint and forbearance and a commitment to peace and democracy here at home and in the world. And a commitment to economic democracy here at home and throughout the world.

Crown thy good, America. Crown thy good America. Crown thy good.

Thank you.

Kucinich’s Prophetic “Prayer for America” Speech
8 Years Ago Today

Many have called Dennis Kucinich’s “Prayer for America” speech one of the most eloquent and significant summaries of post 9/11 America. He delivered it eight years ago today.

The Kucinich campaign staff urges you to read and to distribute this prophetic message which even after eight years maintains a fresh sense of urgency.

Dennis Kucinich: Time To Put a Stop to The Health Insurance Give-away

I don’t know why I put myself thru it, but I noticed that Dennis Kucinich was going to be on the Ed Show and wanted to hear what he had to say in regards to the POTUS’s speech and his plan for health care (not INSURANCE) reform.

View the clip here.

One thing that you won’t see in that clip (or in any clip I can find) was the very next guest that Ed brought on to totally discount Mr Kucinich. Ed gave Jonathan Alter much more and uninterrupted air time so he could offer the contrary view that just happens to go along with the POTUS. Just ram the bill thru and work from there. But as Dennis points out, the entire bill is a non-starter and a sham. It is nothing more than forcing people to buy insurance when they can’t afford it, anyway.

Jonathan Alter is nothing more than a media clown who knows where his bread gets its butter. The main point, tho, is how a Congressman, elected multiple times and ran for the presidency, is simply shrugged off by this foolish little man. Who, in their right mind, would give Alter more credence than Kucinich?

Of course you won’t hear the entire argument, for they would not allow Dennis to rebut the idiocy Jonathon (then the ass-kissing Ed Shultz) spread out for you rednecks.

Jesus Christ, I know better than to watch that shit.

Notice that you can’t find the clip of Jonathon coming in and discounting Kucinich and saying “He’s wrong.” But all those gullible assholes who gobble this shit up every night saw it.

There is no doubt in my mind that these corrupt sycophants know exactly what they are doing and who’s direction they follow. It has nothing, whatsoever, to do with what is best for this country.

For, as Mr Obama said in that clip, “show me”. How can you show someone something when they won’t open their eyes due to the money stacks that disallow it?

I’ve been screaming the answer for well over a year now. The bastard just says shit, but cares nothing for the real answers. Empty suit and a lying asshole.

“If only we had known then what we know now”

OCTOBER 2002 – IRAQ WAR RESOLUTION REVISITED

Dear Friends,

Seven years ago this week the House of Representatives debated the Iraq War Resolution which was presented by President Bush. I made the case for NOT going to war. I analyzed the Bush war resolution, paragraph by paragraph, and pointed out “Key Issues” which argued against Congress voting to go to war. I distributed the attached analysis, personally, to over 200 members of Congress from October 2, 2002 until October 10, 2002 when the vote occurred.

When you hear people say: “If only we had known then what we know now,” remember, some did know of the false case for war against Iraq. And since so many know now that we should not have gone to war against Iraq, then why are we still there?

Please read this analysis and let me know what you think.

Thank you.
Dennis
P.S. – The “Whereas” clauses were verbatim from the 2003 Bush Iraq War Resolution. The “Key Issue” represented my commentary.

Analysis of Joint Resolution on Iraq
by Dennis J. Kucinich
October 2, 2002

Whereas in 1990 in response to Iraq’s war of aggression against and illegal occupation of Kuwait, the United States forged a coalition of nations to liberate Kuwait and its people in order to defend the national security of the United States and enforce United Nations Security Council resolutions relating to Iraq;

KEY ISSUE: In the Persian Gulf War there was an international coalition. World support was for protecting Kuwait. There is no world support for invading Iraq.

Whereas after the liberation of Kuwait in 1991, Iraq entered into a United Nations sponsored cease-fire agreement pursuant to which Iraq unequivocally agreed, among other things, to eliminate its nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons programs and the means to deliver and develop them, and to end its support for international terrorism;

Whereas the efforts of international weapons inspectors, United States intelligence agencies, and Iraqi defectors led to the discovery that Iraq had large stockpiles of chemical weapons and a large scale biological weapons program, and that Iraq had an advanced nuclear weapons development program that was much closer to producing a nuclear weapon than intelligence reporting had previously indicated;

KEY ISSUE: UN inspection teams identified and destroyed nearly all such weapons. A lead inspector, Scott Ritter, said that he believes that nearly all other weapons not found were destroyed in the Gulf War. Furthermore, according to a published report in the Washington Post, the Central Intelligence Agency has no up to date accurate report on Iraq’s WMD capabilities.

Whereas Iraq, in direct and flagrant violation of the cease-fire, attempted to thwart the efforts of weapons inspectors to identify and destroy Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction stockpiles and development capabilities, which finally resulted in the withdrawal of inspectors from Iraq on October 31, 1998;

KEY ISSUE: Iraqi deceptions always failed. The inspectors always figured out what Iraq was doing. It was the United States that withdrew from the inspections in 1998. And the United States then launched a cruise missile attack against Iraq 48 hours after the inspectors left. In advance of a military strike, the US continues to thwart (the Administration’s word) weapons inspections.

Whereas in 1998 Congress concluded that Iraq’s continuing weapons of mass destruction programs threatened vital United States interests and international peace and security, declared Iraq to be in “material and unacceptable breach of its international obligations” and urged the President “to take appropriate action, in accordance with the Constitution and relevant laws of the United States, to bring Iraq into compliance with its international obligations” (Public Law 105-235);

Whereas Iraq both poses a continuing threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region and remains in material and unacceptable breach of its international obligations by, among other things, continuing to possess and develop a significant chemical and biological weapons capability, actively seeking a nuclear weapons capability, and supporting and harboring terrorist organizations;

KEY ISSUE: There is no proof that Iraq represents an imminent or immediate threat to the United States. A “continuing” threat does not constitute a sufficient cause for war. The Administration has refused to provide the Congress with credible intelligence that proves that Iraq is a serious threat to the United States and is continuing to possess and develop chemical and biological and nuclear weapons. Furthermore there is no credible intelligence connecting Iraq to Al Qaida and 9/11.

Whereas Iraq persists in violating resolutions of the United Nations Security Council by continuing to engage in brutal repression of its civilian population thereby threatening international peace and security in the region, by refusing to release, repatriate, or account for non-Iraqi citizens wrongfully detained by Iraq, including an American serviceman, and by failing to return property wrongfully seized by Iraq from Kuwait;

KEY ISSUE: This language is so broad that it would allow the President to order an attack against Iraq even when there is no material threat to the United States. Since this resolution authorizes the use of force for all Iraq related violations of the UN Security Council directives, and since the resolution cites Iraq’s imprisonment of non-Iraqi prisoners, this resolution would authorize the President to attack Iraq in order to liberate Kuwaiti citizens who may or may not be in Iraqi prisons, even if Iraq met compliance with all requests to destroy any weapons of mass destruction. Though in 2002 at the Arab Summit, Iraq and Kuwait agreed to bilateral negotiations to work out all claims relating to stolen property and prisoners of war. This use-of-force resolution enables the President to commit US troops to recover Kuwaiti property.

Whereas the current Iraqi regime has demonstrated its capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction against other nations and its own people;

Whereas the current Iraqi regime has demonstrated its continuing hostility toward, and willingness to attack, the United States, including by attempting in 1993 to assassinate former President Bush and by firing on many thousands of occasions on United States and Coalition Armed Forces engaged in enforcing the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council;

KEY ISSUE: The Iraqi regime has never attacked nor does it have the capability to attack the United States. The “no fly” zone was not the result of a UN Security Council directive. It was illegally imposed by the United States, Great Britain and France and is not specifically sanctioned by any Security Council resolution.

Whereas members of al Qaida, an organization bearing responsibility for attacks on the United States, its citizens, and interests, including the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, are known to be in Iraq;

KEY ISSUE: There is no credible intelligence that connects Iraq to the events of 9/11 or to participation in those events by assisting Al Qaida.

Whereas Iraq continues to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations, including organizations that threaten the lives and safety of American citizens;

KEY ISSUE: Any connection between Iraq support of terrorist groups in the Middle East, is an argument for focusing great resources on resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. It is not sufficient reason for the US to launch a unilateral preemptive strike against Iraq.

Whereas the attacks on the United States of September 11, 2001 underscored the gravity of the threat posed by the acquisition of weapons of mass destruction by international terrorist organizations;

KEY ISSUE: There is no connection between Iraq and the events of 9/11.

Whereas Iraq’s demonstrated capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction, the risk that the current Iraqi regime will either employ those weapons to launch a surprise attack against the United States or its Armed Forces or provide them to international terrorists who would do so, and the extreme magnitude of harm that would result to the United States and its citizens from such an attack, combine to justify action by the United States to defend itself;

KEY ISSUE: There is no credible evidence that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction. If Iraq has successfully concealed the production of such weapons since 1998, there is no credible evidence that Iraq has the capability to reach the United States with such weapons. In the 1991 Gulf War, Iraq had a demonstrated capability of biological and chemical weapons, but did not have the willingness to use them against the United States Armed Forces. Congress has not been provided with any credible information, which proves that Iraq has provided international terrorists with weapons of mass destruction.

Whereas United Nations Security Council Resolution 678 authorizes the use of all necessary means to enforce United Nations Security Council Resolution 660 and subsequent relevant resolutions and to compel Iraq to cease certain activities that threaten international peace and security, including the development of weapons of mass destruction and refusal or obstruction of United Nations weapons inspections in violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 687, repression of its civilian population in violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 688, and threatening its neighbors or United Nations operations in Iraq in violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 949;

KEY ISSUE: The UN Charter forbids all member nations, including the United States, from unilaterally enforcing UN resolutions.

Whereas Congress in the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution (Public Law 102-1) has authorized the President “to use United States Armed Forces pursuant to United Nations Security Council Resolution 678 (1990) in order to achieve implementation of Security Council Resolutions 660, 661, 662, 664, 665, 666, 667, 669, 670, 674, and 677″;

KEY ISSUE: The UN Charter forbids all member nations, including the United States, from unilaterally enforcing UN resolutions with military force.

Whereas in December 1991, Congress expressed its sense that it “supports the use of all necessary means to achieve the goals of United Nations Security Council Resolution 687 as being consistent with the Authorization of Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution (Public Law 102-1),” that Iraq’s repression of its civilian population violates United Nations Security Council Resolution 688 and “constitutes a continuing threat to the peace, security, and stability of the Persian Gulf region,” and that Congress, “supports the use of all necessary means to achieve the goals of United Nations Security Council Resolution 688″;

KEY ISSUE: This clause demonstrates the proper chronology of the international process, and contrasts the current march to war. In 1991, the UN Security Council passed a resolution asking for enforcement of its resolution. Member countries authorized their troops to participate in a UN-led coalition to enforce the UN resolutions. Now the President is asking Congress to authorize a unilateral first strike before the UN Security Council has asked its member states to enforce UN resolutions.

Whereas the Iraq Liberation Act (Public Law 105-338) expressed the sense of Congress that it should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove from power the current Iraqi regime and promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime;

KEY ISSUE: This “Sense of Congress” resolution was not binding. Furthermore, while Congress supported democratic means of removing Saddam Hussein it clearly did not endorse the use of force contemplated in this resolution, nor did it endorse assassination as a policy.

Whereas on September 12, 2002, President Bush committed the United States to “work with the United Nations Security Council to meet our common challenge” posed by Iraq and to “work for the necessary resolutions,” while also making clear that “the Security Council resolutions will be enforced, and the just demands of peace and security will be met, or action will be unavoidable”;

Whereas the United States is determined to prosecute the war on terrorism and Iraq’s ongoing support for international terrorist groups combined with its development of weapons of mass destruction in direct violation of its obligations under the 1991 cease-fire and other United Nations Security Council resolutions make clear that it is in the national security interests of the United States and in furtherance of the war on terrorism that all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions be enforced, including through the use of force if necessary;

KEY ISSUE: Unilateral action against Iraq will cost the United States the support of the world community, adversely affecting the war on terrorism. No credible intelligence exists which connects Iraq to the events of 9/11 or to those terrorists who perpetrated 9/11. Under international law, the United States does not have the authority to unilaterally order military action to enforce UN Security Council resolutions.

Whereas Congress has taken steps to pursue vigorously the war on terrorism through the provision of authorities and funding requested by the President to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or persons who planned, authorized, committed or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 or harbored such persons or organizations;

KEY ISSUE: The Administration has not provided Congress with any proof that Iraq is in any way connected to the events of 9/11.

Whereas the President and Congress are determined to continue to take all appropriate actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or persons who planned, authorized, committed or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such persons or organizations;

KEY ISSUE: The Administration has not provided Congress with any proof that Iraq is in any way connected to the events of 9/11. Furthermore, there is no credible evidence that Iraq has harbored those who were responsible for planning, authorizing or committing the attacks of 9/11.

Whereas the President has authority under the Constitution to take action in order to deter and prevent acts of international terrorism against the United States, as Congress recognized in the joint resolution on Authorization for Use of Military Force (Public Law 107-40); and

KEY ISSUE: This resolution was specific to 9/11. It was limited to a response to 9/11.

Whereas it is in the national security of the United States to restore international peace and security to the Persian Gulf region;

KEY ISSUE: If by the “national security interests” of the United States, the Administration means oil, it ought to communicate such to the Congress. A unilateral attack on Iraq by the United States will cause instability and chaos in the region and sow the seeds of future conflicts all other the world.

Now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SEC. 1. SHORT TITLE.

This joint resolution may be cited as the “Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq”.

SEC. 2. SUPPORT FOR UNITED STATES DIPLOMATIC EFFORTS

The Congress of the United States supports the efforts by the President to-

(a) strictly enforce through the United Nations Security Council all relevant Security Council resolutions applicable to Iraq and encourages him in those efforts; and

(b) obtain prompt and decisive action by the Security Council to ensure that Iraq abandons its strategy of delay, evasion and noncompliance and promptly and strictly complies with all relevant Security Council resolutions.

KEY ISSUE: Congress can and should support this clause. However Section 3 (which follows) undermines the effectiveness of this section. Any peaceful settlement requires Iraq compliance. The totality of this resolution indicates the Administration will wage war against Iraq no matter what. This undermines negotiations.

SEC. 3. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.

AUTHORIZATION. The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to

(1)defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and

(2)enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions regarding Iraq.

KEY ISSUE: This clause is substantially similar to the authorization that the President originally sought.

It gives authority to the President to act prior to and even without a UN resolution, and it authorizes the President to use US troops to enforce UN resolutions even without UN request for it. This is a violation of Chapter VII of the UN Charter, which reserves the ability to authorize force for that purpose to the Security Council, alone.

Under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, “The Security Council shall determine the existence of any threat to the peace… and shall make recommendations to maintain or restore international peace and security.” (Article 39). Only the Security Council can decide that military force would be necessary, “The Security Council may decide what measures… are to be employed to give effect to its decisions (Article 41) … [and] it may take such action by air, sea, or land forces as may be necessary to maintain or restore international peace and security.” (Article 43). Furthermore, the resolution authorizes use of force illegally, since the UN Security Council has not requested it. According to the UN Charter, members of the UN, such as the US, are required to “make available to the Security Council, on its call and in accordance with a special agreement or agreements, armed forces…” (Article 43, emphasis added). The UN Security Council has not called upon its members to use military force against Iraq at the current time.

Furthermore, changes to the language of the previous use-of-force resolution, drafted by the White House and objected to by many members of Congress, are cosmetic:

In section (1), the word “continuing” was added to “the threat posed by Iraq”.

In section (2), the word “relevant” is added to “United Nations Security Council Resolutions” and the words “regarding “Iraq” were added to the end.

While these changes are represented as a compromise or a new material development, the effects of this resolution are largely the same as the previous White House proposal.

The UN resolutions, which could be cited by the President to justify sending US troops to Iraq, go far beyond addressing weapons of mass destruction. These could include, at the President’s discretion, such “relevant” resolutions “regarding Iraq” including resolutions to enforce human rights and the recovery of Kuwaiti property.

PRESIDENTIAL DETERMINATION.

In connection with the exercise of the authority granted in subsection (a) to use force the President shall, prior to such exercise or as soon thereafter as may be feasible, but no later than 48 hours after exercising such authority, make available to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President pro tempore of the Senate his determination that

(1) reliance by the United States on further diplomatic or other peaceful means alone either (A) will not adequately protect the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq or (B) is not likely to lead to enforcement of all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq, and

(2) acting pursuant to this resolution is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or persons who planned, authorized, committed or aided the terrorists attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.

(c) WAR POWERS RESOLUTION REQUIREMENTS. -

(1) SPECIFIC STATUTORY AUTHORIZATION. – Consistent with section 8(a)(1) of the War Powers Resolution, the Congress declares that this section is intended to constitute specific statutory authorization within the meaning of section 5(b) of the War Powers Resolution.

(2) APPLICABILITY OF OTHER REQUIREMENTS. – Nothing in this resolution supersedes any requirement of the War Powers Resolution.

SEC. 4. REPORTS TO CONGRESS

(a) The President shall, at least once every 60 days, submit to the Congress a report on matters relevant to this joint resolution, including actions taken pursuant to the exercise of authority granted in section 2 and the status of planning for efforts that are expected to be required after such actions are completed, including those actions described in section 7 of Public Law 105-338 (the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998).

(b) To the extent that the submission of any report described in subsection (a) coincides with the submission of any other report on matters relevant to this joint resolution otherwise required to be submitted to Congress pursuant to the reporting requirements of Public Law 93-148 (the War Powers Resolution), all such reports may be submitted as a single consolidated report to the Congress.

(c) To the extent that the information required by section 3 of Public Law 102-1 is included in the report required by this section, such report shall be considered as meeting the requirements of section 3 of Public Law 102-1.

Healthcare Is A Human Right: Let’s Pursue It With HR 676

A New Movement: Health Care as a Civil Right

Dear Friends,

There is only one true health care public option: Single payer. It covers everyone, all basic health care needs, with doctor of choice. No more premiums, co-pays or deductibles. All health care assets in America would become not-for-profit. The bill already exists. It is HR 676. Congressman John Conyers and I wrote the bill. Our bill has the support of 85 co-sponsors in the House. And it is backed by a growing national movement of labor, doctors, and nurses. The movement needs you. Please join me for tomorrow’s national conference call at 10:00pm EDT. Please call toll-free 1-800-230-1096.

The hour has arrived to begin anew the Civil Rights Movement, this time for Health Care for All. I am calling upon you to become a force in this movement. Go to Health Care as A Civil Right at Kucinich.us to learn how you can circulate a single-payer petition and organize in your community. Please help fund this effort. Go to Kucinich.us now, contribute.

The Preamble to the United States Constitution and Article One, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution both describe an originating purpose of our United States: to promote the general welfare. Health care is a legitimate function of our government. Health care is a basic right in a Democratic society. It is no more a privilege based on ability to pay than is the right to vote, which was once accorded only to property owners.

Health care is also a moral imperative. Forty seven million Americans are uninsured. Fifty million Americans are underinsured. People are losing their homes, their jobs, their life’s savings, their retirement security and their financial health because they cannot pay medical bills, and despite this calamity Washington looks another way. We must not avert our eyes to this human suffering and this economic injustice.

Let’s prepare a response which Washington will long remember as the time when the people reclaimed their government from the insurance and pharmaceutical companies. Join us. Contribute. Together, we can initiate an action plan to intervene and provide health care for all.

  1. A National Health Care for All Conference Call from Washington, DC, at 10 pm EDT, Thursday, September 10th at 1-800-230-1096. Join us, so that we can discuss our new beginning and ways in which we can all help. Pre-registration is necessary in order to reserve sufficient phone lines. Please RSVP here. When you call in and the operator asks, “what conference call?” tell the operator, “Health Care for All.”
  2. On-line petition. Please contact your lists, your family and friends. Please sign the petition for a single payer system. I will deliver the petitions directly to your Congressperson.
  3. Petition to download, print and circulate among friends and neighbors – including an instruction sheet.
  4. Health Care Meet-Ups. Coming Thursday September 10 2009.
  5. Tell A Friend. Every email forwarded will make a difference? Please use the “Forward Email” link below to circulate up to 5 emails at a time to your friends.

I need your help to initiate this action. If you believe, as I do, that we can and must begin a new long-term state-by-state grassroots effort to create a single-payer, not-for-profit health care system, please contribute now at Kucinich.us Thank you.

Sincerely.
Dennis

Health Care or Insurance Care? It’s Time to Respond!

Dear Friends,

The health care decision-making process in Washington is horribly tainted by the campaign contributions of insurance and pharmaceutical interests. Under the pay-to-play system health care becomes insurance care, the public option shrinks to irrelevance, the choice we are left: What kind of private, for-profit insurance do you want? This is not acceptable. We must respond now, and not settle for a plan which subsidizes insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies and sets the stage for the privatization of Medicare. We want Health Care for all the people, Medicare for All, which is exactly what the bill John Conyers and I wrote, HR 676, accomplishes. And the only way we will achieve it is to organize and take action in our communities to effect real change at a state and national level. Let us initiate immediately an action plan to intervene and provide health care for all:

  1. On-line petition. Please contact your lists, your family and friends. Please sign the petition for a single payer system. I will deliver the petitions directly to your Congressperson.
  2. Petition to download, print and circulate among friends and neighbors – including an instruction sheet.

Let me guess… you still have insurance through work (or your spouse’s work) and you have nothing to worry about because they will continue to cover you… right?

20090808-elise

According to The Economic Policy Institute, that security may be premature. There has been a steady decline (5%) of employer based health insurance since 2000 (this figure is based off of 2007 numbers, which will be higher now). September 10th will be the day for the new report and I am willing to bet that declines will tap down near the 55% realm.

There will be a day of reckoning when those of you who have insurance provided by your employer will not be so spoiled and realize how hard it is for low income and small business owners to survive. The others of you that have never experienced any sort of ailment that cost significant money and are still not paying because you are gaming the system… it won’t work. There are a million things that can make that strategy fall on its face and on to my back to pay, since you can’t and won’t.
