My daughter had serious ear problems from allergies when she was very small. They put in the ear tubes which helped tremendously. However, when they removed the right one which hadn’t fallen out on its own, her right ear was damaged leaving a hole in the ear drum.
Last summer they did surgery and repaired it and it was healing wonderfully.
A few weeks ago, she had a cold and went to the nurse practitioner. While examining her, he made reference to a huge amount of wax buildup in that ear and wanted to gently clean it. My wife asked if he was sure it was ok since just having surgery and he said it was no problem and very safe.
He began and within 2 seconds, busted the ear drum, which requires another surgery to re-repair.
We must be there at 9AM tomorrow, 11/24, and the outpatient surgery (across the street from the Hospital ER) will likely take place within a couple of hours from then. She is upset, to say the least (the last one was a scary experience for her) and I am a nervous wreck (which is unlike me).
I ask that you send good thoughts and prayers for her. She is the reason for me caring. It is for her that I do this.
UPDATE 7:00 AM:
The surgery was called off early this morning (which is an answer to my prayers, as I see it). She will be re-evaluated and monitored over the next few months to see if the ear will heal itself and if not, we will go through the surgery during the summer.
What an emotional relief! (I am such a wuss in my old age)
Thank you all!
